“It all ends here,” I never expected him to say that to me, not after everything I did for him. I was backed behind my own wall, trapped by my own creation. I was surrounded by people I thought I had total control of, in the end, it was not so. Six of them surrounded me with their hands pointed at the floor below my feet. Their eyes glowed and palms shuddered. I could sense at least a hundred of them outside, even my own army betrayed me. No, everyone did.
The leader who orchestrated everything was standing in front of me, just a few meters away. He had this smug look on his face. The bastard stole my own golden uniform and put it own and declared himself the new Emperor. I sensed twenty others were stationed at several locations across the multiple moons above, they were using their own psychic powers to focus entire dampeners onto my body. It was working and I applauded them for the success of their plan, it deserved my respect.
The many dampeners that were pointed at me were powerful enough to prevent my own psychic energy from mustering completely. I was now just a human who could only muster enough psychic power to enhance my senses. In other words, I was powerless in the face of these beings with powers that reached beyond this reality.
The bloody floor under me was slipping. The bodies of the men and women who stayed loyal to me slowly sank into the floor as a black sphere appeared beneath. The bastards were opening a portal but to where? With my powers dampened, there was no way for me to escape or fight back.
I looked at them one by one until I fixed my eyes on his. He gave me a smugly smile.
“What?” He said. “You told me that betrayal was a vital key in everything I should do. I’m surprised you did not think I would do the same to you,: I was a fool for thinking he would stay an idiot. In some form, he still was. As the portal beneath me shook open, my body slowly sunk into it as if I was thrown onto magma. They focused all their remaining power into creating this hole between space and time.
“You know we couldn’t kill you. I’m not that dumb, so we’re banishing you far, far away from us. To a place you will never escape from,” The traitor proudly declared. The others smiled and threw their insults at their former master. I sensed their anger and hatred towards me combine like a whirlpool in the middle of a storm above the swirling waters. They hated me that much.
But why.
I gave them everything they wanted.
I pondered for a split second until the traitorous man spoke his final farewell to me and himself.
“So long, father,”
I bet he did not think about what I would do next.
As my head was about to enter the portal along with the rest of my body, I felt my powers return as I expected but only slightly. If they were indeed sending me into a place far away from them then that would mean I would be brought into another place, a place from which the dampeners couldn’t reach. The dampening devices could not reach through the portal no matter how hard they tried. This was common sense, they must have thought I would just accept my defeat.
Hell no.
For a split second, my eyes glowed a crimson hue. They were attentive enough to notice it just as my eyes sank through the sphere. I caught a glimpse of his face, full of shock and terror because he knew I was going to retaliate. But in what way? I sensed his question. They did not anticipate this, they knew they were in trouble. In a hurry, they would have raised their psychic barriers thinking I would launch a direct attack at them. It was silly, if I did what they thought I would do, my attack would be easily repelled due to me not being in full strength. Or so I assumed those were their thoughts.
I mustered my psychic energy into one spot to destabilize it, what spot? Where else? The portal of course. Just as it was about to close, I sent a flurry of my psychic energy into it. It overloaded the portal and it began to spasm violently. As I was sucked into the vortex and thrown into the tunnel inside the continuum, I saw the boom that was the result of my actions. That boom represented one of the most powerful entities in the universe, not even light itself could escape from it. I managed to destabilize it just enough to cause it to collapse onto itself.
Yes, in the portal’s place was now a small singularity, not powerful enough to destroy the planet but powerful enough to cause an explosion equivalent to a nuclear weapon. Thank you, Hawking.
The boom sent a shockwave powerful enough to form a minor ripple in the tunnel, tossing me aside and throwing me into another hole that for some reason appeared out of nowhere. Wherever it led, there was no stopping from here on out.
I pondered one more time. This was it, I was leaving everything behind and not because I wanted to, I did not have a choice, there was no other choice. To be betrayed by my own most trusted, where did I go wrong? Where did I fail?
I should have killed them long ago.
Well, there wasn’t anything I could do.
I closed my eyes just as I entered the hole and muttered to myself what my mother told me before she died.
“Be a good boy,”
I’m sorry, mother. I did not become what you wanted me to be here.
