the gemstone unleashed a psychic like a heart beating for the first time. I hurriedly looked back at it and there it was, floating a few meters in the air above the hand that held it. My eyes shook open and a blinding light of crimson filled them. This was bad. My senses skyrocketed as I stared at the floating gemstone that felt as if it also stared back at me. I glared at it and it felt like the gemstone was also glaring back at me.
It pulsed like a beating heart, its light dimming and brightening in sync. This bastard was the source, I was too careless. Whatever it was, it had psychic abilities and was not going to be reasoned with. It was a full-blown confrontation. I did not make the first move, I couldn't. The sisters were sleeping on the uppermost floor. Even with the barrier I cast, I was unsure if it would be enough to withstand a full-blown confrontation between two powerful psychics. I did not even think this was going to happen in a world allegedly governed by magic.
The gemstone pulsed and pulsed, rising ever so slightly into the ceiling. It was rising out the hatch, no, it was facing me and was determined to stay. I could only hope that I could be able to contain this rogue psychic entity in this room alone with bringing it to the surface.
And it hit me. The gemstone unleashed a powerful psychic pulse that destroyed the floor above us and was about to shatter the floor to the surface. I heard Yuna cry out in her sleep but it was a cry of shock. I was relieved to realize that she wasn't in any pain. I heard the rumble of footsteps that hurriedly made their way out of the ruin. They were now out of the way, it was time for my move.
I gathered a significant pool of my psychic energy into my eyes causing them to shine brighter than the sun. Normally I would test out the abilities of my enemies, toy with them for a few minutes before defeating or killing them. However, there were other lives at stake and if I wasted my time further, there was no saying I wouldn't regret the consequences.
The entire room quaked under the weight of our psychic powers clashing against one another. The gemstone then pulsed its most powerful yet but I wasn't going to be pushed around by a tiny rock. My crimson eyes then flashed like a supernova and the entire stone ruin exploded from the ground and up.
For a moment I was distracted by the screams of the sisters but my enhanced sense showed that they were already far away from the battle. The horses had rescued them and they were already fleeing as far away as they could.
I was glad.
The chunks of the ruins and the pieces of the ground that went up into the air stayed in the air as I and the gemstone floated above the trees. I was now in full throttle, my psychic, and enhanced senses to their max. I saw everything on the planet wherever it was even if it was half a world away. Though, I did not distract myself with the billion of inhabitants I sensed.
I searched only for the sisters, there they fore, sallying forth, and never looking back. When I found them, I strengthened their barriers so that they could withstand what I was about to do next.
The gemstone was pulsing rapidly, it was getting ready for its own powerful attack. The crimson light around me started to shine exponentially until I was brighter than the sun. The light then exploded and lit up the night sky with my crimson light. The sisters watched as the stars disappeared and the clouds turned red like roses. The forest shook and the animals awoke from their slumber and fled as the ground below them rumbled. The dens were emptied and the birds flew away as two psychic beings were about to have it their way. The gemstone also shined, its green color plastered against the red but the red was overwhelming it still.
It was time.
My eyes exploded and a concentrated beam of my psychic energy burst from my eyes pointed at the direction of the gemstone. The gemstone exploded as well and fired its own beam of psychic energy to counter mine. Our attacks clashed in the air as both of us tried to overpower the other. It seemed like a stalemate as the beams of light shined so bright, appearing under the once calm sky like two suns strangling each other.
I sensed the horror this world felt that night. Nature itself reacted violently and trembled before us.
And then the tables began to turn. The gemstone was weakening, it could not keep up. I was exuding too much power for it to handle. It was over. My beam began to push against its power until it was only an arm's length away from hitting the gemstone.
The gemstone began to crack as the crimson pillar crept towards it. The sky had been overtaken by my light and its light was extinguished from the heavens. I sensed the fear of the gemstone as my pillar was about to reach it. And when it did, I heard the gemstone cry out in agony;
NO
The sky cracked and the world trembled.
Nobody knew why, except us.
I did not remember what happened during the explosion. When I opened my eyes, my body felt numb. The sky above me had returned to normal and I found myself falling from the sky. Time moved slowly around me as I turned my head to see what had happened to the gemstone.
It was shattered into a hundred smaller pieces. I looked at it indifferently, I could have handled this another way but any other way would have resulted in precious time. A gemstone that was almost as powerful as I was wasn't something I should be giving a chance to.
The world was lucky.
I and the gemstone concentrated the brunt of our attacks on each other but if the attacks were to be pointed at the planet.
Extinction, only extinction would follow and nothing would be left.
Suddenly, the gemstones appeared above my head. I looked at them as I slowly fell.
The gemstones suddenly turned into glitter and fell onto my forehead, melting through my skin.
"What the-"
Time then returned to normal.
What the hell was that stone anyway?
What was it doing in.. there.
