Was the man crazy?
Had he lost his mind?
Or was all of it in his head, he could be just fine.
Did he really have a husband?
Was he alive or dead?
He couldn't shake these thoughts from his psychotic head
He barely registered the pain in his wrists as panic swept him away,
but not before the ladies dressed in white tightened his restraints to keep him at bay.
He lunged for one as she darted to the side,
He yelled, "Where is he? Is he really alive??"
His husband; was he real?
Was he even there?
He wasn't sure and that was enough to make the ladies swear.
The nurse who wore red got up to follow.
She grabbed a yellow bottle, then yelled, "SWALLOW!"
She shoved a pill down his throat, but not before he gagged;
The lady dressed in red grunted and reached into a bag
He had not noticed the bag which was drenched in rainbow colors
"Sleep tight now dear, and don't soil the covers."
He felt another slide down his throat
He shuddered when he felt it and thought he might croak.
They watched him with intensity before they stated,
"It should take effect soon, please, be patient."
With that darkness crept into his vision
It beckoned him closer, then he made the decision.
He decided to stray from the dimming light.
He never meant to give everybody a fright.
Just before the darkness encased him,
"I'm sorry," he whispered, and remembered Jason.
He dreamt of his husband and remembered him fondly;
All those late nights wasted playing Volley
He enjoyed the memories of his beloved.
But soon, his stomach filled with dread
He noticed the room filling with smoke;
Jason inhaled and began to choke.
The man sobbed and held him tightly.
Jason cried, but only slightly.
Then he dreamt of the look
The one that said "I love you" as his shoulders shook.
He held his lovers head, begging for him to stay, but better for him to leave than let him live that way.
