With a stiff punch, Elizabeth knocked one robot into three others, where they collapsed into a pile of sparking scrap metal. She dodged another before lunging after it and serving it a frenzy of punches.
Noah and Toru worked back to back, blocking flailing arms and snapping them off where they could. Ten of Dr. Thore’s drones were laid to waste in a ring of scraps around the boys. As the dust cleared, two drones zipped towards them in opposite directions. Noah and Toru locked eyes over their shoulders and jumped, letting the two bots crash into each other, bringing their total to an even dozen.
Marisol jump-kicked one of the bots, sending its head spinning before falling on its back. A swift left hook took down another, and then a third with a jab-jab-uppercut combo. The eerie buzz of another drone came from behind, too close for Marisol to react in time. From above, Jaleesa landed her foot through the sneaky robot’s chest. Jaleesa shook her foot free and gave Marisol an amiable nod. Supernova scanned the warehouse as the trap doors opened up once again, releasing another wave of robots. Both Marisol and Jaleesa stared down the manic dentist, who had his thumb firmly pushed against his remote. Supernova came together in the middle of the warehouse, back to back, sidestepping in unison.
“We have to get that remote!” Jaleesa said.
“We need a distraction.” added Toru.
“Say no more!” answered Elizabeth. With that, the green-suited hero picked up two lifeless robot heads and began clanging them together. She ran straight into the denser part of the crowd, inviting them to chase after her.
Marisol dashed for Dr. Thore, but was met by two drones instead. As she battled the metalheads, Jaleesa jump-flipped over them and landed in front of the mad dentist. Dr. Thore flinched, lifting the remote high and away from the young girl. Jaleesa rolled forward and sprung up with a handstand, kicking the remote out of his hand and high into the air. The remote fell quick into the clamped hand of one of the drones. Immediately, Toru pounced on the robot’s back and wrestled it out of its hand, launching it across the warehouse.
“Noah!” signaled Toru. The remote fell only feet away from Noah, who quickly made a dash for it. But before he could get his hands around it, the remote was incinerated by a bright blue laser. Noah looked up from the sizzling pile of ash where the remote had landed to see Dr. Thore holding a smoking ray gun. Jaleesa quickly kicked the gun out of Dr. Thore’s hand, where it smashed to pieces on the hard cement floor of the warehouse. She backed up to meet Marisol, desperate to come up with a plan B.
“They’re gonna keep coming!” said Jaleesa, motioning to one of the trap doors which released yet another wave of cone-bodied drones. Marisol looked around, watching Elizabeth, Toru, and Noah fight off the horde of bots. She continued scanning the rest of the warehouse for anything that could help them.
“There!” said Marisol, pointing to a large antenna hanging from the ceiling above the sugar tank. At the tip of the metal rod was a small bulb, pulsating a red light synchronously with the rest of the robots. “We need to find a way up there.”
“I’ve got it—just cover me.” said Jaleesa. She ran to the wall and started climbing one of the exposed metal columns. Dr. Thore was onto her plan and ordered his robots after her, but Marisol was there to fend them off, punching and kicking them to scrap. As Jaleesa reached the top of the column, she pulled on a net which hung from the ceiling to test its sturdiness. Seeing that the net was stable, she swung herself forward rope by rope, until reaching one of the ceiling’s metal beams. From there, the giant antenna was in reach. She dropped down and caught hold of the beam, and with a firm kick, the antenna snapped from its base and fell below into the sugar tank.
Throughout the warehouse, all of the drones came to a halt as their blinking red lights stopped glowing. All together, their hovering mechanisms ceased, and they fell with a resounding clang.
Jaleesa stuck her landing as she dropped from the ceiling. The rest of Supernova gathered around her, facing a shaken Dr. Thore.
“I surrender!” he squeaked, dropping to his knees and placing his hands high in the air.
“Some evil genius.” muttered Elizabeth as she kicked the head off of one of the stiff bots. The five friends acknowledged each other as they prepared to turn Dr. Thore in, when all of a sudden the ground began to tremble.
Supernova faced the eastern wall, watching as dust and debris fell from the warehouse’s aged structure. In a flash, the wall erupted, sending chunks of rock and steel to the ground. Through the cloud of dust, the silhouette of an enormous rounded figure appeared with two large forward-facing drills for arms. Four small mechanical spider legs appeared from the bottom of the giant ball, lifted itself off the ground and crawled forward out of the dust cloud. The warehouse lights revealed the Mecha to resemble an oversized peppermint candy, looming over the team of miniature superheroes. Near the top of the massive mechanical mint was an elongated windshield, which swiftly slid open and revealed three familiar foes.
“Disruptor Gang!” shouted Noah.
Gracie stood up and let out a wicked cackle, while Ivan and Narendra joined in beside her in matching black-and-green outfits.
“Oh, how sweet it is to look down on you irksome, little brats...”
