Tripp parked his Ferrari out in front of a magnificently beautiful hotel, I couldn't believe my eyes that he would choose something so spectacular for a tech conference. We stepped outside the vehicle, he threw his keys to the valet to park.
"Wow, let me guess, you own this hotel too?"
"Yuuuppp!" He responded smugly. “I’ve got a room for us on the top floor, Penthouse style. This hotel is one of my favorites. In the heart of the city there’s so much to do around here.”
“Okay so you own the most successful tech company in the country, maybe in the world and now you own hotels. What else do you own, or is this just a hobby for the rich?”
“Ah my dear I own more around here than you think, restaurants, hotels, luxury stores, you name it I probably own it or something similar.” He placed his hand on the small of my back as he guided me to the hotel entrance where employees looked like a deer caught in headlights trying to serve Tripp.
“So what you’re telling me is the rich get richer huh? One business after another, you’re after them all.” Wow that must be nice to have all that money.
“I mean I guess you could think of it that way, believe it or not, I actually work really hard for all that I own.” I can’t tell for sure but he might have been a bit agitated by that comment. I mean I’m sure he does work really hard, but making money is easier when you had a bunch of money to start with. It’s hard to build your way up in life when you live pay check to pay check. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to feel financially secure like Tripp. Maybe one day I’ll be happy and not always feeling like I’m running away from my past. Tripp snapped me out of my thoughts with his deep soothing voice. “Could you have breakfast delivered by 8:00am for both of us? Have my car out here ready by 9:00am. We’ll be departing for the conference then.” He turned to me. “I’ll show you to the room then we can go shopping to get you a suitable wardrobe for tomorrow.”
He had so much authority and everyone around us snapped to with his words. I’ve got to admit I like a man who can take charge. I feel safe with Tripp, I could see hanging out with him more. Though I have to admit I don’t really know if we have a future together past fooling around a bit. He lives in a completely different world, and I’ve read enough romance manga to know that if I follow this path I’ll be walking down a world of hurt with brutal people who will stop at nothing for Tripp’s fame and fortune or I’ll wise up and walk away. Very rarely do things end well for the poor girl who falls for the rich CEO, so I’ve got to do the only wise thing and protect my heart. We headed toward the elevator. “This one isn’t going to stop midway right? Maybe we should just take the stairs.” I might have been a bit afraid of elevators now. I’ve never really been a fan of them or any heights in general. It had a similar look to the other elevator too. It was really fancy and looked really expensive but I was still a bit wary.
He inhaled sharply. “Ugh you’re going to make me exercise now? Ugh what I don’t do for you.” He put on a big dramatic show about taking the stairs but ended up wrapping his arm around my waist, resting his hand firmly on my hip. “Fine, I’ll take the stairs for you.”
“Thanks.” I mumbled blushing from close contact with him, but in all honesty I didn’t really want him to remove his arm.
“Just kidding!” He pushed me into the elevator and quickly pushed the button up to the top floor.
“What the hell! You asshole!” I started swinging my purse at him as he laughed at me. “I’ll beat the shit out of you! Get over here!”
“Aghhh look out! She’s got a weapon!” He pretended to cower in the corner of the elevator.
“Damn right! Prepare yourself!” Wham! I gave him another good hit.
“Hey!” He wrapped his arms around me and lifted me into the air. “Gotcha!”
“Put me down! Put me down!” I laughed until I almost cried.
Ding! The elevator sounded as it finally reached the top floor. Tripp finally placed me back on the ground but slipped his hand onto mine, intertwining our fingers. “This way.” He was practically dragging me to the hotel room door. “Here we are!”
He held the keycard up to the door and waited for the click, making a grand gesture of opening the door, revealing a beautiful modern looking room that was once again at least twice as big as my whole apartment. There was an indent in the center of the room with a small circular hot tub surrounded by the furniture. The hot tub had blue lights making the water glow with rose petals floating in the water. The lamps on the end tables looked to have been made out of real crystal and the tv had to have been at least an eighty inch. The leather couch really finished the room. “Oh my gosh!” I exclaimed. “I’ve never seen such a beautiful hotel room!” I started to explore a bit more, it even had a full fledged kitchen with stainless steel appliances. “Wow I’m jealous you get to stay here, can you show me to my room? Or are there two bedrooms in this suite?”
“You misunderstand, we’re sharing this room.” He answered simply, placing his leather bag onto the glass bar in the kitchen.
“Whoa whoa wait a minute, I have to share a room with you?! Hold the phone, that totally wasn’t part of the deal!”
“Well you didn’t specify you wanted your own room.” He shrugged.
“It’s a given isn’t it?!”
“What’s the big deal, we shared a room last time.”
I sounded out my words dramatically. “I. Was. Drunk!”
“Well you’re more than welcome to get your own room, pretty sure every other room is sold out, but if you’re lucky enough to find one, especially with the tech conference in town you’re probably looking at a few thousand a night.” He smirked. “The company is only approving reimbursement for this room.”
“Company?! You’re the owner! Ugh you’re such an asshole!”
This made him laugh. “Come on, don’t you want to go shopping? Or do you want to show up to Tech Of The Year in that?”
“Ugh I hate you.”
“I highly doubt that.” He pulled out his credit card. “Afterall I got the money for this trip.”
