I wake up the next day, to be crowded by my family, and other families on the ship. We all wake up and go stand in line to get breakfast. The line is long and it gets louder the longer it takes. after a few hours of waiting in line, we reach the counter, where they pour us a bowl of beans from a can they baked in large metal pots, that were like two feet tall and a foot wide. we then left to go to the window to eat. My little brother has been attached to me like a magnet. He doesn't quite get what is happening, so he asks me a lot of questions like, "Where are we going?" and "When are we going home?" My parents explain things to him as thoroughly as possible, be he is still confused about it. In his brain, he seems to think that this is like a vacation, he doesn't quite get that we are moving, and will never go back to Earth. I on the other hand am freaking out about all this. I have always been afraid of heights, but this is like heights on a way higher level. I am terrified of space as well. The fear of like what happens if the ship breaks down. I am also freaking out about the new planet, and new house, and not having my best friend there with me. My best friend always kept me level headed with her optimism, but all I can think of now are the bad thoughts. I try to remember the good times, and stay on the positive side, but the memory of her face filled with tears, still haunts me. I then see Amanda walking over to me. "Hey Melaena, how you holding up?" I sigh and say "Not very well, I'm an emotional wreck" She smiles at me and says "Well not all is bad news, Dylan and his family made it on board." Hearing that gives me a little bit of joy to go on. Dylan was me and Kaley's childhood friend. He moved a bit away, so we didn't see him as often. She then told me where I could find him, and I headed that way. Just seeing that I could see just one of my childhood friends made me a little happier. I then found him aboard and we gave each other a big hug. "Mel! I'm so happy you made it on board! Did Kaley make it on?" I tell him the bad news in a somber tone "No, she didn't make it." We both then bow our heads in grief. We spend a bit talking about our favorite things about our lost friend. Then we spend the whole day just talking about what has happened since he moved. We also talk about what we expect the new planet to be like. We head off to our families, and then go to bed. For about a little more than two weeks, it is like this, wake but, stand in line for breakfast, talk to Dylan, and go to bed.
