Ruben laid collapse on the ground of his back yard soaked in sweat after his personal training session. Blades of glass stuck to his skin making him uncomfortable until he was finally able to catch his breath and stand up. After doing his cool down stretches, he grabbed his soccer ball and walked back into his house. Upon waltzing into the kitchen he sees his mom making breakfast and gives her a kiss on the cheek while rejoicing at the scent of frying bacon and vegetable omelettes.

 "Morning Ru how was your workout?" 

At the sound of his mother soft voice Ruben snapped out of his food trance and responded, “It went well Mama, my dribbling drills are starting to get easier so I’ll probably have to switch up my routine starting next week." 

“That’s good honey, now go take a shower you reek, breakfast should be ready by the time you come back down." He responded with a nod and rushed upstairs to shower and get dressed for the day. He returned to the kitchen and dark blue jeans and a Hunter X Hunter shirt with Feitan on the chest and sits down to eat his breakfast. At the same time his dad walks in dressed in a dark blue suit with a briefcase in hand. 

“OK honey I’m off," he says to his wife before grabbing his cup of coffee and giving her a kiss on the forehead. 

“Also Ru, I saw you working on your volley in the yard it’s really improved this summer you’ll definitely be chosen for Captain this year."

 “Thanks dad but I’m still going to have to win the practice games to be considered." On capstone high school soccer team, the selection for team captain is a  very tedious affair that consists of a summer Boot Camp and a series of practice matches leading up to deciding one at the end of the camp.

Throughout his high school career Ruben has participated in every boot camp since freshman year trying to earn the title as team captain. Last year's camp was the closest he ever came to reaching his goal, but his injury put him behind on his training. However, Ruben is positive that this year will the year he takes the captain spot, it is his senior year after all he has to make it his best. 

When his dad turned and walked out the door Ruben received a text from his best friend Anthony.

Anton: yo Ru, are we on for some 1v1 at the park later? I wanna test my skills

Ruben: sure I'll ask my mom and meet you there at 1

Anton: nice! See u there and bring your A-game :P

"Hey mom is it cool if I go play with Anton at the park later?"

"Sure, just make sure you're being careful, I know the doctors have cleared you but try not to overwork yourself, and keep doing your therapy."

"yes ma'am" Ruben finished his breakfast and went back to his room to get lost in a new book he found at their local library. By the time he remember to look at his phone he had 10 minutes to get dressed in his gym clothes, grab his cleats and rush to the park to meet Anton.

A/N: ahh I finally got the courage to post the first chapter! I've written and re written it 3 times. I hope whoever ends up reading this will enjoy it but it still has a long way to go. Tell me what you think so far :) ~Woot
