Everyone had started to notice how often Diamond and Erien were together. Whether it was her in his studies helping him with paperwork to even walking around and playing with the pups. Rumours and snickers of amusement by this started to spread among the pack.
“Maybe this is a good thing. Both of them seem to get along so well. They even balance each other out.”
Lydra picked at the fuzz on her coat, smiling,” She is a wild little force she is with a large sensitive side. He is too calm and kind-hearted with a raging monstrous anger. A good way to balance you say.”
Some of the healers giggled together, still trying to figure out how those two managed to balance themselves out with their natures. Just a new thing to learn.
“So, when do you think one of them will cave in and tell the other?”
“I give until the spring equinox. Maybe even summer solstice,” Lydra raked her slender brittle oak coloured fingers through her hair. Her painted indigo claw-like nails tapped on her dark lips,” Should we help them? Get Alpha’s little brother in on it?” Some of the other healers gathered around Lydra and nodded eagerly. The romance was everything in this pack to the girls, the men, some you could say their way to be romantic was to flirt like dumbasses. But they adored the effort.
Lydra smiled and started a hushed whisper of chatter with the girls, getting a plan into action to make these two confess to one another. Or to see who would crack first. Everyone knew that Diamond had feelings for Erien, and Erien was just too easy to read. He was more than just an open book. It was like big bright golden letters blinding the pack.

Spring was almost here. March nearly closing in now, finally, things settled down from the fight and work to start on saving what was left of the Binturongs and Martens home and replace anything that didn’t survive.
Rayna offered help since all of her flock will be back once spring hits. Diamond watched as they both worked together, drawing up plans and blueprints for new homes and bridges. Diamond shifted around on her feet, tapping the toe of her shoe on the ground trying not to look. Something pointed at her gut, making her on edge and irritated.
“We can make new bridges from the twigs and surviving rope still in their forest territory. Something borrowed mixed with new. Never hurts!”
“Um,” Diamond spoke out, making them both look up at her. She looked away muttering audible,” Can I have Erien alone for a bit? I need to talk to him.”
Rayna’s nose twitched, a small smirk forming on her face. She was too aware of what was going on. Rayna was always too aware of how people really felt when acting a certain way.
The blonde leaned up and stretched, waving her arms like wings and sighed out laughing,” Yeah! I’ve been distracting him all day today anyway. You two probably have some wacky friendship stuff going on! I’ll go now, I need to prepare for my flock's return anyway!” Rayna placed her hands on her hips, rustling the features that were chained onto her belt and smiled,” LEt me know when he is free! Don’t keep my childhood best friend from me for too long!”
Diamond flinched a bit by Rayna’s small teased tone on the words of my childhood best friend.
Rayna patted Diamond’s head giggling and winked before exiting and closing the door behind her. Erien groaned from the much-needed break and walked around his desk, smiling,” So, you needed to talk to me?”

Diamond was covering her face from embarrassment as Erien was waving his hands and shaking his head wildly. Diamond had just let the words fall like water from her mouth, asking if he liked Rayna. Erien had yelled no as if horrified by that idea even coming to anyones mind.
“Rayna is too much of a smart person for me! She is too much of an achiever too! She makes me feel like an idiot!”
Diamond rose her head up with a questioning look,” Aren’t you kinda?” Erien tsked frowning and crossed his arms and shrugged. Both of them remained in silence for the rest of the time before Erien spoke again.
“Rayna is my best friend. She and I grew up together and nothing can beat that. She is too much like a sister to me to be even close to liking her as something other than that. Not that her being too smart or an achiever is a bad thing, I’m just too much of a simple person. I enjoy the nostalgic times that are either fast or slow. I like the simplistic things, and feeling the proudness of achieving small things and the occasional big things. Rayna and I are just family to one another. Nothing more than that.”
Diamond nodded, feeling a bit ridiculous for assuming something so fast over time just because of how they acted. Now that she thought back on everything she saw and heard, it was sibling-like nature.
“O...Okay. I’m sorry for assuming. I just, well, I thought you were having trouble confessing or something. Every time she was teasing you about having feelings for someone, you would be blushing and trying to make her stop like you were worried she would find out it was her,”
Erien looked away, his cheeks turning a soft shade of crimson now. He didn’t know what to say or do. But at least he had gotten that all cleared up.
“No.”
Diamond looked at the Alpha before her, confused on why he had said no so flatly. She knew she was wrong already, but, why say it?
“No, that’s not why I was blushing every time. There is someone I like, but as I said, it isn’t her. She knows I like someone and she knows who it is too. That’s why she messes with me so much.”
“Who is it?”
Erien flicked his eyes to Diamond’s, locking a little too quickly onto them. The dark honey colour was back, but a subtle swirling of the golden light in them from the sun made it show it was a menacing glance.
He smiled, placing his folded hands on top of his head and shook his head,” It’s someone. That’s all I can say. She’s pretty neat but you’d think she’d be too much of a handful when she’s excited. I guess someone like me would have trouble with handling a wild shy girl like her. Dontcha think?”
Diamond felt a small pain in her stomach as he spoke. Someone else really had his eye now? Ouch. But, Diamond smiled nodding,” For someone who says they are nothing but a simple person with simple ideals, I’d say your hands are full Alpha Erien. So if you manage to confess to that girl, I wish you luck.”
Erien stayed quiet, keeping his gaze on the petite feline girl in front of him. He smiled softly, the dark honey fading into a soft melted colour as he nodded slowly,” Right. Why don’t we go by the creek again? I think one of the Marten kids wants to go to and play in the water. So, why don’t we too?”
Diamond stepped back against the door, grabbing onto the handle and gave a small smile,” Opal and Emerald are going to need me soon. I better go now so I can be there when they need me. Maybe next time Erien. But thank you.”
With that, the black-haired female was out of sight. Erien felt a not so subtle depressed weight in his chest from the declined offer. Something about it twisted in him, feeling like a problem was going to happen. Did what he said hurt her? Was she shocked that he even liked someone? Did she feel uncomfortable with the talk now?
Erien grew pale in the face and cold inside. Did Diamond know it was her that he liked and she didn’t know how to shoot him down without sounding rude and ruthless?
“Great…,” Erien leaned back onto his desk and sighed, slumping down onto the flooring of his studies and laid his head on his knees. He felt heavy now. Worried that now something was messed up.

Diamond was wiping away tears that had tracked her soft tanned skin as she closed the bedroom door behind her. Opal and Emerald were in the room, noticed, and rushed over-worried.
“Is everything okay? What happened?”
“He said he likes someone. And the way he talked about them…,” Diamond sat down on the ground tearing up again feeling defeated in feelings.
Opal and Emerald sat on either side of her, holding their sister between them and rubbed her head,” It’ll okay sister. Did he name the person?”
Diamond shook her head.
“Then that means you could still be that person!”
Opal nodded along with Emerald’s point, Diamond wiping her face a little to clean the tears off,” Don’t give up okay? You can still tell him how you feel.”
“But I feel like I would be intruding on someone else’s confession to him and want for him if he doesn’t like me back. I don’t want to do that.” Diamond looked at her two sisters, slightly pulling and playing with her long hair.
“You just gotta try. Never hurts too. It’ll hurt depending on the outcome, but it’ll hurt way less if you just tell him. Better do it now than later and never get the chance to.”
