The Unknown Bounty - The Mandalorian

Prologue

Prologue

Oct 14, 2020

A girl ducked into an alleyway. She breathed heavily as she adjusted her thick leather mask. Grains of sand blew in the wind and her loose strands of blonde hair swayed quietly with the breeze.

The girl sighed and looked up to the dark night sky. A perfect night for a thief to take action.

She poked her head around the corner, scanning the area for anyone in sight. She squinted her eyes, knowing that the sky could be playing tricks with her vision.

Looking over her shoulder, she saw the metal side door leading inside to the bank. She wanted the gold and steel that was kept inside. Not only could she use the gold to buy food and survive, she could trade the steel for better clothes and armor.

The girl tugged her hood against her head and pulled a pair of heat seeking goggles from the pocket of her vest. She put the goggles against her eyes and looked around, seeing motionless globs of dark red. They were sleeping citizens in nearby houses. Each home was made of stone, had steel rooftops, and strong iron doors. It was a pretty rich neighborhood.

The girl then looked inside the building in front of her. The bank was empty, something she hadn't expected.

Then, she paused and felt a blaster being pressed against her skull.

"Who are you?" asked the unknown character. The girl slowly brought her goggles away from her face. She raised both hands and dropped the goggles to the floor.

"Are you the girl on this chip?" the man asked, his voice deep and serious. A gloved hand appeared before her with a bounty puck clutched in his fingers. It showed a hologram of her masked face and hood up. Above her picture said "Name Unknown" and below that, "Bounty: 3,000"

The girl rolled her eyes. Another bounty hunter. She had seen enough of those in the past year. After she became a master thief, she also became the youngest high-valued bounty on the planet. Her head price kept getting higher as she stole, killed, and escaped other bounty hunters throughout the year.

The girl looked over at the bounty hunter. He had a mask on just like her's, but she saw a hint of fear in his dark eyes.

"Who said I was for sale?" she asked in a low voice. In a quick motion she pressed a button on her glove and smoke filled the narrow alleyway. She grabbed the bounty hunter's blaster, slid behind him, grabbed him from behind into a headlock, and jabbed the blaster into his cheek. She could tell the bounty hunter thought of her as an easy target. She sensed he didn't bring any other weapon but the blaster. She got that a lot when she first started stealing.

"W-what?" the bounty hunter stuttered right as the girl shot the man right in the face. There was a loud bang that made the girl rush out of the alleyway. Blood spilled out of his skull as the smoke started to disappear. She heard a scream and already knew it was too late to get into the bank.

With a groan, the girl jumped up and grabbed the edge of the roof of the bank. She pulled herself up and fled into the shadows as more voices and murmurs were heard from the scene.

"Dang it! I used my last smoke bomb," she mumbled, rolling her eyes. "Whatever. I guess I'll have to go to the market, then."

She sighed and started running, her legs bringing her farther and farther from the bank. She knew if she didn't get out in time, she would've been found out. That was her greatest fear.

No one knew her name, no one knew her age, and no one knew how dark of a past she had and how dangerous she really was.

She was the Unknown Bounty.

"Sir! Are you a Mandalorian?!" a lady asked a man in steel armor. He looked down at the lady. She was almost in tears.

"Yes," he started, understanding that she had a job for him to do. "What's wrong?"
