【Walking】 into a pitch black room, Scarlet was well unaware of bumping into what felt like a wooden table.
She thought to herself as she ran her fingers over the bumpy surface. Weapons... Blades, handgun, scourge, and a spiky club, huh.
"You got quite the collection here." She said passively as the room lights started to flicker, as they came on. Across the room from where she stood sat a very irksome looking man on the throne. He had chestnut brown hair and was wearing a floral Hawaiian button up with matching vans and a beige fedora that complimented the rest of his looks. Next to him was an expressionless Eris who stood there silently.
A few feet in front of me knelt three still figures. One in particular was very small compared to the other two. Not only were their movements restrained, they had a thick sack over their heads.
"As you can see, there are weapons on the table and those irrelevant beings over there. Hopefully you're smart enough to put the two together and come up with a conclusion." He said in a brusque manner.
The chestnut guy whistled signaling two other men to unbag the hostages. Scarlet darted her eyes skimming their extremely bruised up faces.
A pregnant woman, a man, and a child? She thought to herself.
"What are they doing here?"
"Supposedly one of them committed a heinous crime that got em on the blacklist. Pick correctly and the other two may be lucky enough to walk out of this room alive. Choose wisely." He let out a vile chuckle.
"Please, I have a family at home. I'm eight months pregnant and is about to have the baby! At least save the baby I'm begging you! I'm innocent! I swear— the woman's cries were abruptly cut off into violent muffles.
She continued to beg with her pleading, watery eyes. The man next to her sat there calmly smirking repulsively. The kid that knelt next to him had puffy eyes and a rosy pink face. He stayed just as calm and silent seemingly to anticipate what's about to happen.
A set of polished stainless steel throwing blades have caught Scarlet's eyes as she peered down the table. It was a black and blue two-toned blade set with a nylon cord wrapped handle.
Exquisite, yet an insanely sharp blade. Gorgeous smithery. Scarlet let out a sigh as she instead reached for the revolver, pointing it at the bored professor.
"Compelling choice. I haven't been in this situation nor have I seen this kind of rebellious attitude for quite some time. Unfortunately, sorry to disappoint. I am not the target today.
"How unfortunate that you aren't." Scarlet said out of spite. She turned her head making eye contact with the man whose whole face was masked in disturbing tattoos and piercings.
"And you are?"
"None of your business." He hissed spitting at the ground in front of me.
Scarlet had the most irresistible urge to pummel him, but knowing it wouldn't be as satisfying, she managed to keep her composure.
"AND you're here because..?"
"That's easy. Raaaape... Manslaughter, trafficking, kidnap, arson, theft... The list goes on ya know!" He said excitedly as he swayed his whole body in a circular motion. Minutes passed and the nut still continued to proudly brag about his sick accomplishments.
"Heh, I got plenty more if the little birdie's curious. But-- Only if you're offering something in return..." He cooed, winking as he eyed Scarlet's body lecherously.
"Tch. Scum to the very end. You're fucking disgusting." I spat right back at him. Without another second passing by, I pulled the trigger.
"You... Bi-tch" were his last words as his body fell to the floor.
"Congratulations. You guessed correctly. Believe it or not, it was an easy pick." The professor sarcastically applauded. The pregnant woman let out a huge sigh of relief finally allowing her tensed body to loosen up.
A sly grin appeared on chestnut's face. "You know what would make this more interesting?"
Scarlet eyed him suspiciously not wanting to answering.
"Kill them."
Scarlet stood there completely flummoxed by what he just said. She scrunched her face in disbelief and anger.
"You said that two can live. They are both innocent civilians!" She bursts out.
"Awww, how touching that you--"
The woman's voice cracked bursting into tears.
"Mercy please! Someone, help!" She shrieked.
Several noticeable vein popping appeared on the side of the professor's forehead.
"I hate being rudely interrupted. Eris, shut her up. Her constant whining is just so irritating, it's giving me a huge migraine."
Eris twirled her pistol around her trigger finger before taking her shot. A loud bang rang out. Moments later, the body laid in a pool of blood.
"You see... It doesn't matter whether they're criminals, exiles, innocents, royalty, or whatever-- You follow and execute orders that you were given ."
"What kind of bullshitery is that?" Scarlet clenched her her fist lowering her eyebrows.
What seemed to be lost, jumbled up memories had suddenly came flooding back causing her to groan in anguish.
"I- I refuse." She stammered.
"No?" The professor quirked his eyebrows intertwining his fingers.
"Eris, please show this insolent brat how things work around here."
Eris picked up the same set of blue throwing knives. Her eyes fixated on mine. A sharp blade whizzed past my ears thudding right into the wall behind me. Another blade brushed my cheek. Blood dripping down the side of my face, I ran my fingers tracing the deep gash it had left.
"Still being a defiant little pup? Eris, maybe try going for a different part of the body. Maybe it'll do her some good." His voice trailing off.
The third knife was chucked with such force that it lodged right into my upper thigh. Grimacing in pain, I dropped down to one knee. Several smaller blades grazed the sides of my arms and legs and the rest of my body.
"Looks like you're feeling quite generous today I see... That's not like you Eris." He said cocking his eyebrows.
With the speed of light, he appeared behind me pressing the head of his gun against my head.
"Let this be a small lesson to you. You better learn how to follow orders and respect your superiors. Hopefully this will get through that pea sized brain of yours because I'm starting to lose every ounce of my patience. Now, before I blast you to bloody bits, shoot the boy." His voice laced with such bitterness.
I can't die here. At least not yet. Scarlet slightly flinched as she yanked out the lodged knife from her thigh. Struggling to get up, she held the table for support. Her hands shaking as she gripped the gun.
"Why the fuck are you struggling cadet?" He said sounding even more aggravated.
Gazing at the child, a pair of soft light brown eyes stared back faintly nodding his head. A baby cheek smile appeared on his face as he mouthed it's okay.
He closed his eyes readily accepting what was coming. Trying to force my tears back, I scanned his baby like features one last time.
I'm sorry. I turned away finally managing to muster up the will to pull the trigger. The gunshot echoed through my mind. Within the corners of my eyes, his body thumped to the floor.

Woo, long chapter! Thanks for pushing through :)
7 chapters in. Rereading my previous chapters it got me wondering on how I can improve my writing/ make it more interesting. Should I lessen the details/ descriptions? Maybe lessen the dialogue and more action? Personally I feel like I go into too much detail... Am I wrong? Right? Maybe? I would love to hear it from my dear readers. Comments and suggestions are welcomed!
