Sebastian Rodriguez was a bit of a romantic. Ever since he knew of fated pairs, he always found it fascinating. Though, he didn’t have much hope in having one. Having two Beta parents, he knew he would become a Beta. That was why, the first time his sex examination result came out, he thought there was an error. With two Beta parents—and a Beta older sister—who would have thought that he was an Alpha?
Ever since then, he wished to find his fated partner. Not that he knew he had one—most Alpha didn’t. Still, he wished. Imagining what he would do if he ever found his fated one.
Who would have thought he really existed? And who would have thought they would meet this early?
Starting the coffee machine, Sebastian hummed. The part-timer was ecstatic to be able to give his number to his crush, thinking it was one step closer to his fated partner. Sebastian poured the coffee onto the cup and took the hot milk out. He poured the milk onto the cup, creating a simple shape out of the remaining foamy milk. He wanted to create a heart latte art, but he decided not to. Though heart shaped wasn’t difficult for him, his ulterior motive would be showing. He wouldn’t want to come off as too strong, otherwise Chester would back away from him again.
He couldn’t hide his excitement, though. He wanted to get closer to Chester as soon as he could.
With Chester’s coffee done, the waiter went straight to the Omega—who curiously didn’t sit at his usual spot next to the window. Well, the seat next to his usual was occupied, which could be the reason why Chester was reluctant to take his usual throne. Instead, the salaryman was sitting quite in the middle of the room. Lucky him, Chester could be seen easily from the cashier.
Smiling a little brighter than usual, Sebastian put the cup down in front of the customer. “As you’ve requested,” he announced cheekily, grinning to showcase his perfectly lined teeth. “I tweaked the sweetness a little bit, tell me how you prefer it.”
Chester eyed the cup on the table, fuming and warm. “Do you make it sweeter?”
“Yes.”
Chester lifted his eyebrows, sipping the warm liquid down. A sweet twinge crawled down his throat, fulfilling the need of sugar for his sweet tooth—though, a little too sweet for his liking. “I like sweets,” Chester said. “But I don’t really like my coffee too sweet. So, the previous one was better.”
Sebastian nodded, engraving his fated partner’s likes and dislikes in his mind. “Do you like sweets?”
“I do,” Chester took another quick sip of his beverage, nodding. “I also like éclair. And ice cream. I’m quite a sweet tooth.”
“Cool,” Sebastian said. “My sister likes to bake.”
“I know,” Chester chuckled. He knew Sebastian’s sister before he knew Sebastian, after all. “Now, get back to work. Don’t want owner to scold you, no?” he waved his hand, ushering the waiter away. Though reluctant, Sebastian left with a smile. A prolonged conversation with Chester, learning his preference, giving him his number—the day couldn’t get even better.
Sebastian’s shift ended at two, right after lunchtime. Ray was the one continuing his shift, usually. Though, since Ray was absent, another part-timer Sebastian didn’t really know took over his shift—whose name was Hannah, if Sebastian recalled right.
The part-timer came early, greeting both Sebastian and Caleb. She put on her apron and went straight to the cashier, motioning to Sebastian that he could leave. Sebastian nodded a ‘thank you’ to her before leaving the counter. He told the owner that his shift had ended, and he needed to take his leave.
“Thank you for your hard work today,” Caleb waved Sebastian a goodbye, then going back to organizing the refrigerator.
Sebastian left the café, following the street out the alley to the main street. He looked at his watch—fifteen to three. He had class at 3:30 PM, plenty of time to go to college. Luckily, his college wasn’t located too far from the café.
Sebastian arrived at class early, there weren’t many students yet when he entered the lecture hall. Sebastian scanned the hall, until he found a person that he recognized. He sauntered towards the person, then he put his bag on the table. “Hey,” he sat down.
The girl tilted her head, adjusting her glasses. “Oh, hey,” she smiled. “You’re early.”
“Work finished fast.”
The girl squinted her eyes, fixating her gaze on the Alpha. Her focused glare made him uncomfortable. “Drew, stop looking at me like that.”
“You stink,” Drew scrunched her nose. “Control your scent, dominant Alpha. You’re too much.”
“I’m not even dominant,” Sebastian opened his bag, pulling out his water bottle to have a drink.
Drew adjusted her glasses again, out of habit, while diverting her gaze back to her laptop. “Anything new with your fated partner?” she teased, though her fingers started typing on her laptop.
Being asked like that, Sebastian was embarrassed. He gesticulated awkwardly, unable to hide his excitement. “I gave him my number,” he told her, finally, while his cheeks were blushing.
Drew scrunched her nose and furrowed her eyebrows, pouting while she proceeded Sebastian’s words. She clicked her tongue. “Innocent virgins,” she murmured, then went back to her assignment.
“What do you mean by that?” Sebastian pouted in return, puffing his cheeks like a kid.
Drew waved her hand, ushering the guy away. “Move, you little baby. I have ten minutes before Professor kills me,” she hissed, yet again focused on her assignment.
Though, contrary to her words, their lecturer came in a second later. Drew clicked her tongue again, putting her laptop on sleep mode and praying the lecturer forgot the assignment.
Lucky her, the professor seemed to have forgotten any assignment he gave and proceeded to continue the lecture.
