When their Professor left the class, Drew stretched her hands upward, stretching so far while groaning. She slumped onto the table. “This class never ends,” she whined, pulling out her phone and reading the time. “At least there’s no more classes today.”
Sebastian tucked his stationery and binder into his bag. “Right,” he agreed. “I hate only having one class a day.”
Drew supported her head with her palm; elbow on the table. “But, this way, you can work at the noon, right?” she stated.
Sebastian shrugged, though he agreed with his fellow Alpha’s statement. He stood up, strapping his bag on his shoulder. “You want to go home or what?” he asked.
“I have to wait for Cheryl,” Drew finally put her stuff into her bag. “Gonna meet her near the gate. Accompany me?”
His friend put on a pleading face—which Sebastian couldn’t say no to. He sighed. “Buy me drinks,” he negotiated, which Drew accepted with open arms. She stood up, following Sebastian out of the lecture hall.
“She gonna be here in ten minutes or so,” Drew said as she threw Sebastian a canned soda. She popped one open for herself, then proceeded to lean on the railing right next to her friend. Her eyes scanned the passersby on the main street. Some of them were college students, leaving the campus; others were pedestrians coming from and going to different destinations. “So,” Drew sipped her soda once again. “Tell me about your fated partner.”
Sebastian blinked in confusion. “Why should I?” he asked without any malicious meaning.
Rolling her eyes. “You’re so head over heels, I need to know more about this person,” she punched his shoulder playfully.
Sebastian chuckled softly, taking a sip on his soda. “He’s quite older than me,” he admitted, scratching the back of his neck softly as he was nervous. “Works at some office. He’s a tough man.”
Drew glanced at him in silence. Then, she opened her mouth, “How do you know he’s your fated partner?”
The man observed the canned soda, though his mind searching for answer. After a few seconds of silence, he said, “I just feel it the moment I saw him. That’s what I’ve heard, and that’s what I’ve felt.”
Drew shook her can, gazing down at the pavement beneath her. A few things came into her mind, occupying her thoughts. “Do you think he’ll accept you, though?” she asked, as the question bugged her mind. “Just because you two are fated partners—doesn’t mean you have to be together, right? After all, he has his own say in this.”
Sebastian’s eyes drifted upward as he flitted his head up. “I recon, yeah,” he agreed. “Of course, I won’t force him. He has the right to refuse me—but I’m allowed to hope, right?”
Drew shrugged as a respond. She didn’t ask for anything more—her words wouldn’t reach him. After all, he was someone in love, dreamily head-over-heels for someone for the sole reason that they were fated to be together.
Drew disliked the idea of fated pairs—the fact that two people were bound to be together just because their souls fit—she didn’t like it. Though, she never told Sebastian about it.
Sebastian was quite naive, in Drew’s opinion. But, she still wished the best for him. After all, they were friends. She wished that Sebastian would love his fated partner as an individual—not only as his ‘fated’ person.
As she was deep in her thoughts, Cheryl finally came scurrying. “That took too long!” she complained as she approached the two. Sebastian and Drew stood up simultaneously, welcoming the new person joining them. After a little greeting, they decided to separate ways.
“See you, Drew,” Sebastian waved his hands.
“See you, Sebby,” Drew replied, smiling teasingly. “I hope for you all the best in your romance.”
Sebastian chuckled at the remark, and he watched as the two women sauntered away to their own destination. In which case, Sebastian needed to come back home, too.
When he arrived home, he took a bath straight away and went back to his room. He picked up his phone and sat down on the couch, expecting a text or two from either friend or family. In fact, there were several texts. Sebastian skimmed down the notifications. Nothing really stood out; he decided to check them later.
The college student set his phone aside, leaning on the couch and throwing his head back. He exhaled a long sigh. Yet, until tonight, there hadn’t been any messages from Chester.
Well, maybe Drew was right. Just because the two of them were fated pairs, didn’t mean they should end up together. After all, they were two individuals with separate lives. Maybe, they weren’t meant to be—like Sebastian believed.
When Sebastian closed his eyes, though, his phone vibrated. It was left on silent for class—and he had entirely forgotten. He picked up his phone, expecting another text from his sister or his friends—but an unknown contact texted him.
“It’s Chester. Sorry, didn’t know what to say.”
And with only that simple text, Chester managed to erase Sebastian’s worries away—and the Omega himself wouldn’t ever know of it.
Sebastian chuckled, his lips turning into a huge grin that creased the corner of his eyes. His cheeks became hot, as they started to be tinted in rose color. Too eagerly, he typed in and sent a reply.
“I like whatever you’re saying to me.”
