“It was a brilliant plan, Doctor, but we’ll take it from here.” said Gracie from atop the towering mecha.
Dr. Thore poked his head up from the ground and replied, “You have my best!”
“Shut up, you geezer!” shouted Elizabeth, “The only thing you punks are taking are these fists to your faces!”
“Na-na-ne-na-na-ne-shut up, you leprechaun!” mocked Narendra. Elizabeth gritted her teeth in rage as the three evil-doers burst into wild howls of laughter. “Oh, look! She’s mad!” The Disruptor Gang continued obnoxiously mocking the girl, her face reddening like fire.
“Team—get ready!” announced Marisol. The Disruptor Gang slumped back into their mecha and closed the windshield. Immediately, the rounded mecha’s drill-hands started to turn with a loud whirring sound filling the entire warehouse. It thrust it’s right arm forward and into the ground, sending rubble flying in every which direction. The entire building shook, debris falling from the old rusted ceiling. Marisol looked at Dr. Thore, who remained cowering on the ground. “Toru, get the doctor somewhere safe. This place isn’t gonna hold.” With a firm nod, Toru picked up the mad scientist and carried him out of the warehouse.
Before Supernova could come up with a plan of attack, the candied menace swung it’s arms left and right, destroying everything in its way. The team leapt accordingly, dodging the Disruptor Gang’s brutish blows. The mecha suddenly swooped low, scratching the earth with its left drill, sending the team up in the air. Elizabeth found herself in a corner, looking up to see the sinister spiral staring down at her. The mecha launched its right arm forward, striking one of the metallic beams as Elizabeth managed to slide under the attack. The drill rumbled violently as it caught against the steel beam, trying hard to shake loose. Elizabeth watched the arm fight to free itself, but on closer inspection she noticed the poor craftsmanship of the mecha. The metal plates composing the machine shook against the loosening screws holding the body together.
Elizabeth quickly pounced away from the mecha and regrouped with her teammates. “That thing is practically falling apart! If we focus our attack on the seams, those screws will pop right out.” The rest of the team confirmed the plan with nods all around. At that moment, the Disruptor Gang had freed their mecha’s hand from the beam and turned to face Supernova. The metallic ball rushed at them, but the team split up in all directions. Jaleesa jumped on the wall then kicked off of it, using that energy to land a hard kick on the mecha’s left arm. When she landed on the ground, she was greeted by the sound of loose screws hitting the concrete.
“Hey guys, check this out!” she shouted. Jaleesa leapt toward the wall and repeated the move, making another melody of screws hit the floor. The four teammates began springing from the walls, landing kicks and punches all over the brooding ball of metal. Toru returned from relocating Dr. Thore to find his team quite literally bouncing off the walls. He recognized their strategy and joined them. The Disruptor Gang were freaking out from atop the massive metallic mint, slamming buttons and levers to no avail as Supernova were ricocheting off of their shabby contraption. The warehouse shook as the miniature heroes continued their attack; a multicolored multiball blitzkrieg of pinballs at war with the Disruptor Gang’s mecha.
The team regrouped at a distance, as the massive machine shook violently. Inside, Gracie, Narendra, and Ivan trembled along in fear. The giant peppermint collapsed in place, a cloud of debris following and filling the whole warehouse. As the dust cleared, the five teammates encircled the three troublemakers, cowering in each other’s arms on the cold ground. Supernova shook their heads in unison as the villainous adults yelped at what was to come.
The Supernova Technique.
The five friends joined hands, forming a band of friendship around the evil trio. They each closed their eyes and began to radiate a soft glow from their cores until becoming a pillar of white light.
Narendra let out a deep sigh between his shivering comrades, “I really have to look into setting up a 401k.” he said to himself softly.
The five white lights combined in the center, launching the Disruptor Gang through the roof of the warehouse until they blinked out of sight. Miles away, they would crash through the ceiling of the local police station, right into an empty jail cell.
Supernova celebrated their victory with high fives all around. Police cruisers waited outside of the warehouse, where Toru promptly handed Dr. Thore to the officers. Along with the authorities stood news station vans and a crowd of fans cheering for their local superheroes. The junior heroes waved and posed for the cameras.
The next day, Supernova stood in line with their schoolmates waiting to get their picture taken. Teachers had given out candy for all students as a response to all the craziness going on the last few days. Marisol and her friends blended in with the rest of the kids, not one of them suspecting their classmates were in an epic battle with robots and mechas the day before. One by one, Marisol, Elizabeth, Jaleesa, Noah, and Toru smiled as the camera flashed. Just another day in third grade. Once again, Supernova saves the day.
