While Thomas is searching for his mate in all his pack’s territory, Mark tries to focus on his sketches while cooking, knowing he has to do something than doing nothing and waiting for Thomas who won’t come anyway. But something is wrong. He still doesn’t feel good. The pain from his chest and stomach persisted and it’s getting worse. The pills he had to take daily were finished some time ago. This means he has to wait until Wilton brings his brothers home to ask him to bring a box of pills from doctor Jinx.

Suddenly Mark felt like he will start to vomit, so he ran to the sink and start emptying his stomach which causes him to suffocate at the same time. Mark stays there and vomit for almost 15 minutes until something comes out of his mouth. He spits it instantly, starting to breathe better, but still heavy. When he opens his eyes to look at what he vomited. At first he thought that it will be what he ate at lunch with the kids, but it was the usual. A flower. But this time the young werewolf remains confused.

The flower’s pollen and a bit of petals are black and the rest of the petals are a mixture of pink to pale red and the petals tips are ice blue. He goes and closes the cooker, then falls to the ground. He’s trying to calm down, but he’s not successful at doing this. He sits on the kitchen floor and breathes heavy for some seconds until he start to feel something unusual in the air. He stands up and leans on the kitchen’s counter trying to figure out what’s in the air. A delectable smell of roses and sweet rolls with strawberries and cinnamon invades his olfactory sense.

Without thinking anymore about his pain, he run out of the house and runs until he gets where the Wind pack territory starts. He stops remembering what Thomas told him. Even if his wolf tells him to stay there because something special will come, he start to return home and start to feel again the pain that takes hold of his body, but he is stopped by a strong hand that grabs his arm and he start to hear a pretty heavy panting.

“Stay.... P-Please don’t leave…” It is Thomas who now tries to catch his breath. After some seconds he look at the person that his wolf is telling him it’s his mate and remains shocked seeing Mark. “Y-You are my mate ?!” Mark gets scared at the sound of Thomas’s voice and his body begins to tremble like a gelatin, but he tries to control that fear so he won’t show it. „I can’t believe.... I can’t believe the Moon Goddess is pairing us.” Thomas said without thinking that Mark was taking his works as if it was a bad thing. The white-haired boy tried to keep his tears from falling and apologized thinking it is his fault that the future alpha of the Wind pack won’t have the mate he wished for.

Thomas remains surprised and sad at Mark’s answer. He didn’t expect that sad aura to be his. But it was well understood that the protective nature of his will come back to the surface and with great regret in the soul, he opens his mouth, knowing that its wolf doesn’t agree with this decision. “I, Thomas Wilson... I-I...” Even if he wanted to reject him something in him tells him that he might regret it. “I, Mark LeeYoung, accept your rejection…” Mark said it when Thomas finally made himself to say that he rejects the young boy as his mate. Thomas start feeling like he wanted to fall on his knees and cry. ‘Why? Why did he accept the rejection?’ he asked himself. But what waked him up from his thoughts was Mark’s incredibly warm palm on his cheek. “But please... Please take care of my brothers for me...” He smiles sadly,tears begin to fall from his beautiful diamond-like eyes.

Thomas’s P.o.v.

After finishing the phrase, he bowed respectfully to me and ran away in the direction of his house, leaving me alone. In a short time, I realize that tears begin to spread on my face, but an angry voice awakens me from that trance. “Son! You know what you just did ?!” my dad screamed at me, but I couldn’t pay attention to him. I’m still looking in the direction where Mark ran and my tears won’t stop from falling on my cheeks. “Even if I did that to protect my pack from the danger I felt in him… Why did he… Fuck!!” And I start running after Mark.

“Son!! Come back!!” “Come back?! Move your ass to Mark’s house! Our son is going after his mate!” I could hear my mom screaming angrily but I was ignoring the voices behind me and keep running like a desperate person after Mark, guiding myself with his smell. How could I be such an idiot in those fantastic seconds that I have been waiting since I was little!!! Even if I feel danger in his aura.... That sad aura.... The smell of rain.... I’m the only one who thinks there’s something else in his heart that makes me feel that?

Anyway, I’m near his house now, but in that moment I saw him throw his luggage in his car as soon as he can and gets in the car to leave. “Mark!!! Mark stay!! Please don’t leave!” But it was too late.... I was too late. He disappeared in the mist of the night and I was left alone there with tears on my face. I hear the voices of my parents, Oliver, Wilton and I think also the voices of alpha Thoe and alpha Shin. But my head is somewhere else until I feel my dad’s hand on my shoulder. At that moment I burst into crying. A cry that I have never had in my life. A cry that leaves a bitter taste behind.

Dad and Thoe took me up from there, more like forcing me to leave that area because the truth is I tried to resist saying that I won’t move from there. But they won and now they are taking me back to the pack house entering from the back door, right in the kitchen where nobody would see me in the deplorable state in which I am. Shin brought me a glass of water and Wilton with Oliver brought Jinx to give me a sedative. After an hour of crying as a mourner at a funeral I slowly began to calm myself down being held by my parents in their arms like when I was very young. “I have to find him… I-I need to find him right now!” I cryed out loud. “Stay calm. We will find him....” alpha Shin told me.

Author’s P.o.v.

After Shin tried to calm Thomas down he whispered for himself ‘I will find him.... Even if this is the last thing I do in this life....’ but Thoe hears it. “Shin, no.... Calm yourself down partner.” In the next second, without waiting Jinx injects a sedative in Shin’s neck as well, which makes him instantly fall asleep. “Better asleep than having another crying baby. Excuse me but I had an awful day and now I have a really bad headache.” “Don’t worry Jinx. It’s okey. Thank you for the help.” Dalton smiled at the tired doctor, while Merlya was taking care of her son. “Don’t be afraid baby boy. We’ll bring him back. Stop crying sweetheart...” she wiped his tears. But Thomas didn’t want to listen and that forced Jinx to inject another sedative in his neck. “That’s it. Calm and asleep as a baby.”

“I can’t believe it. Why is my baby boy like this? I understand he’s sad he lost his mate, but he’s a little exaggerated.” Merlya said in confusion while holding her oldest son’s head on her lap. “Maybe because.... I gave him some drinks before he start running to find his mate....?” Oliver confessed thinking that maybe is his fault that his best friend rejected his mate. Maybe he got him drunk and Thomas wasn’t thinking what he was doing. “Oliver. What did I says about alcohol?!” “But I had an adult next to me!” “Thomas isn’t a full-grown adult yet! He just got in his maturity age! This doesn’t mean that he is a fully responsible adult!” Wilton scolded his son, then looked at Dalton. “Forgive me my friend, but both are still children in my eyes. You and Thoe know me very well when we speak about this subject.” “I know what you mean.Don’t apologize. I have three kids! And the younger ones are like a living hell.” Dalton laughed. “Just one of them. Cody is a good kid, but Lea is too energetic for her age.” Merlya continued her husband’s sentence. “Or we are getting old.” Dalton joked, making Merlya hit him in his head.

That made Thoe laugh as well while holding Shin in his arms. “Yeah! I have two kids man! One is already 21 years old and the other one just four years old! I think I’m the old one in this business. You are still young at this chapter.” Thoe joked and made everyone laugh. Even Jinx who wasn’t happy because of his bad headache.

“But I don’t understand something. Why did he suddenly change his mind about Mark? He was always saying that he won’t let Mark be part of his pack and family and will never accept him. What had changed in his heart?” Oliver asked looking at his best friend with a worried expression. “It may have seen something in that boy that made him change everything he thought about him before and now he wants to find out what is it and what is making Mark so special for his heart.” Shin told the young beta scaring him at the same time. “Hope you are calm now. I don’t want to sedate you again.” “Don’t worry doctor. I’m fine now...” Shin assured Jinx, but Oliver was still confused about his friends change of mind, si Dalton start explaining him about how people react when they find their mates. “Everyone reacts differently when they meet their mate.And that’s how you feel when you lose it from your own stupidity. Inside you a part is saying ‘I do not want him or she’ and the other one is saying ‘I want my mate to be with me for the rest of my life’. And this conflict continues until the soul, the heart, the brain, the human part and the wolf part reach the final verdict. The human mind is more alembicated than the wolf inside us. Oliver understood but got scared again when he heard Thomas’s voice. He was talking in his sleep asking for mark to come back and that he was sorry for being such a big idiot. Hearing his friend’s words made him think that maybe something else was the cause of Thomas’s sudden change of mind. “Wasn’t by any chance Hyperion the one who cried after Mark?” he asked his luna. “It could be. But it seems like Thomas is the one crying after our little Mark right now, not just our sweet and kind Hyperion.” she answered making Oliver to think of what big ego his friend has. “I swear it, once in this life you will take it for me so bad that you won’t forget me even in your nightmares!” he told to the sleeping alpha and Merlya agreed with the young beta. Dalton looked frightened at his dear wife. “That is Merlya’s job Oliver. She given birth to Thomas.” Wilton told his son and petted his head. “And what a birth...” Dalton start to remember with a little fear in his eyes.

“I don’t care and it will be worth it! Even if he is my best friend and brother from another mother, I’ll hit him so hard that he won’t have any teethes left in his mouth if he will reject poor Mark ever again!” he said, making everyone laugh. The Jinx told everyone to end the drama because Thomas will need rest so he could find Mark and the doctor asked alpha Thoe to help him to take alpha Shin home, but he refused telling them that he can go home alone. “I’ll be okay. I think your son has come home and I’m just can’t wait any longer. I need to see him! Greet little Sebastian for me, will ya Thoe?!” “Sure buddy! Be careful going back home!” Shin kissed his friend’s forehead and run to his car and went home.

“Now please excuse me but I have to go back to the pack’s hospital. I still have some patients I have to check. So good night everyone and be careful on your way home alpha Thoe.” “Thank you Jinx. Always a big help. No wander you are the head-doctor of the hospital. No one is as good and fast as you.” Dalton smiled and ruffled his hair. Jinx thanked him and reminded his alpha that he won’t have been in this position without what he did years ago. “Oh and don’t forget that you have to take your sleeping pills alpha Dalton.” “Don’t worry dear Jinx. I won’t let him hunt the pack at night again.” Jinx smiled and start laughing a little seeing his alpha being scared by the luna, then he left to go back at the hospital.

After Jinx left, Dalton took Thomas to his room, putting the covers on top of his son like when Thomas was just a little wolf with a lot of energy. Then he returns to the others who are searching for Mark. Everybody wants to help Thomas find Mark. But unfortunately, they can’t find Mark anywhere near their territory. Not even in Thoe’s territory, so they come back home to rest and start the search again in the morning. Thoe said goodbye to Dalton and Merlya and went home with little Sebastian. The little kid was half asleep, but he still had enough energy to run to his mother and hug her with a big smile on his little face. After Ely took her little son in her arms, Sebastian fall asleep. “Hey dear. How was the diner with your parents?” “It was fine. But they want to meet our son’s mate soon.” Thoe laughed and went next to his wife on the couch.He kissed her and asked where is their oldest son. “He went to his mate’s pack. But...” “Ely? Dear... What is it? What is bothering your mind?” He took her in his arms being sure not to wake Sebastian up. “I can feel the smell of death in this night’s air… And it doesn’t give me a good vibe…” Thoe could see the fear in his wife’s eyes. ‘Oh, please dear Moon Goddess. Please take care of our dear ones.’

On the other hand, back at the Wind pack, Thomas is having a nightmare and it’s a bad one. He was trying to wake up, but he couldn’t do it. He and Hyperion wanted their mates back. After some good minutes of horrible nightmares, he is starting have a good dream about Mark, but that dream didn’t last long. He woke up in sweat and tears start to fall again on his cheeks. “I... I need to find him...”
