The parents didn't talk after the outburst. There was an awkward silence that hung in the air. Richard was trying to figure out why a father would be ashamed of their own child's heritage. He stood to the side, watching Nel and Shile. He didn't like how Nel clutched to his wife. Almost as if he wanted to control where she stood at all times. Richard could tell that Shile wanted to go to her daughter, she kept watching Luna and his wife out of the corner of her eyes.
While Rena was talking softly to Luna and Jue in the corner of the room. Shile kept taking sideways glances at them. Shile knew she couldn't go to her daughter or Nel would have something nasty to say to her later. This was hard enough. Her little girl. Her precious special little girl that she wouldn't be able to see every single day, it broke her heart. Tears weld in her eyes and she took a couple of deep breaths to calm herself down. Again, if she started something emotional in public, especially in front of vampires, Nel would be very upset later.
Shile watched as Rena reached out and soothed Luna's hair. Luna looked at the women with fondness. 'Already, that woman is starting to find a place in my daughters' heart. I hope these two treat her much better than her family back home. My dear, sweet girl, you deserve all the love. All the love I would never be allowed to show you.'
Shile looked down at the grip that Nel has on her arm. She moved to touch his hand gently to see if he'd ease up, but instead, he started to dig his nails into her skin. She cringed only just slightly, and only someone who was paying close attention would have seen the cringed. She slowly and calmly put her hand back to her side, rubbing her dress between her thumb and forefinger to give herself some sort of comfort.
Luna turned to look at her mother. She noticed her mother rubbing her dress between her thumb and forefinger… and with the trained grace of years to defuse her fathers' anger… she walked over to her parents, putting her hand on top of her father's hand that rested on her mother's arm and moved to her tiptoes, she gently kisses her father's cheek.
"I am sorry for my outburst, father. They do deserve to know, though. Please, try to not beat around a bush. We've had enough of for the last hundred years. Wouldn't you say?" She cocked her head to the side and smiled softly at him.
Her father, all 200lb of muscle wolf, melted. He released his wife's arm and wraps his arms around his daughters' neck and kissed her cheek.
"Yes, my lovely child, you are more than right," he replied into her ear.
Nel released Luna and looked at Richard, bowing slightly, he said, "I apologize for my lack of forthcoming. Please, accept my daughter still."
Before Richard could even reply, Jue spoke up, "I accept your daughter." Richard couldn't help but smirk as his child.
'This boy, never in his life has ever openly shared his interest in a female and here he is… very outspoken.' Richard thought.
Richard turned to Nel, "I feel my son has the main right to make this decision and he seems to have spoken."
Luna walked back over to Jue and smiled up at him brightly. Never in her life had she ever thought that someone would want her, let alone a perfect stranger.
Richard continued, "I do believe though, you have spent a bit more time here today than I intended. I would like for both of you to leave for tonight. You can come back tomorrow to say your good-byes to your daughter."
Even though it seemed that things were okay. It still seemed that Nel had broken or at least cracked the trust that was between Richard and him. Luna felt, more than need it to be spoken allowed, that everything rested on her shoulders to make this arranged marriage work.
