Jue walked back into the mansion and automatically felt the tension. That's when he turned and saw that Nel was sitting in the seat with their guard staying over him.
"What are you doing here?" Jue asked staring angrily at the man.
"He is only here because of his wife," Richard said walking into the room.
"Why is Luna's mother here?" Jue asked
"My wife is here to say good-bye to Luna. We know we're not welcomed here so we're leaving our daughter in your hands. Take care of her, she can be unruly but that's only because she's trying to do what she thinks best. …. Most of the time she's right." Nel said towards Jue.
"And, again, please forgive me for not telling you about Luna's… condition," Nel said towards Richard.
"Luna's condition? O you mean the fact that's she's different. You're calling her difference a condition. As far as I can tell Luna is as normal as anything can be!" Jue yelled at Nel.
"Jue… you don't need to get angry or yell at my father. It's okay, I know I'm different, though I don't think it's a condition. I'm fine with my difference. Please don't hold anything against him; he was only trying to make a bad situation okay." Luna said walking towards Jue. Her mother trailed behind her, looking at her daughter as if she was trying to memorize every inch of her.
"Even though I am still angry and wish he would have been more honorable and told your parents and you about my unusual transformation." Luna stood before Jue and smiled softly.
"My parents are good people but just as you told me earlier, "That's a stupid thing to tell an enemy", my father was only being conscious where he didn't need to be. After all, we're not enemies anymore."
Jue looked at Luna, then to her father, and nodded slowly. "By me, you're forgiven Nel, though you will have to earn my trust back. For my father, I can not say." Jue looked at his father.
Richard sat on the love seat across from Nel and sighed and looked at him. "I'll treat your daughter just as I would treat my own child."
Nel looked at Richard, "I feel a 'but' coming on."
Richard chuckled softly, "But if you lie and disrespect my family again, I'm sending Luna home and the peace that this marriage would have built will be over. There will be no peace. Also, neither I nor any of my family members will ever try an arranged marriage again. It will be settled with a peace treaty or war."
Nel nodded and stood and walked over to his daughter, grasping her by her shoulder. "Luna be good, be respectful. Be safe." He said hugging her.
"Your mother will visit when she can, and you know I can't visit. Now that this arranged marriage is final I have to announce it to our race. You know that there are going to be some issues because of it."
Nell kissed his daughter's forehead and smiled at her. "You've grown so much, I didn't notice till yesterday. I'm proud of you."
He hugged her one more time than walk back towards Richard shaking his hand.
As Luna started to walk back over to Jue, her mother softly grabbed her hand. Shile brought Luna's hand towards her lips with a soft kiss and then press the back of her hand against her cheek. It was her silent good-bye. Luna looked at her mother, trying to not tear up again. She brought her hand away from her mother's cheek. Still holding onto her mother's hand, she brought it to her lips in a soft kiss and pressed the back of her mother's hand to her cheek. It was a silent and sad good-bye. Shile and Luna both knew mother visiting would be very rare. Nel could act like the gentlemen in public, but he was controlling and didn't like letting his wife out of his sight for too long.
Jue watched the mother and daughter pair. He felt their pain. When Luna let go of her mother's hand, Jue stepped towards her wrapping his arm around her shoulder. This situation, for anyone, would not be easy on Luna. He would make sure to take care of her.
Nel then came towards Jue and shook his hand, "Jue… watch my moon and take care of her. Protect her; I have a feeling that your race is going to react just as harshly as my race is going to."
Jue shook his hand back and nodded. "I promise sir, I will protect Luna with my life.
Nel nodded and Shile walked towards her husband. Nel instantly wrapping his arm around her waist.
"We should be going. Come, my dear, Spell will be waiting for you and happy to see you."
Shile smiled and blew a kiss to Luna, "I'll miss you dearly, please write. Be strong."
Luna smiled and blew a kiss back, "Don't worry mom I'll write."
Luna stood there as Richard escorted her parents back to the front room, where she heard the booming of the closing of the front door. She looked at Jue's hand resting on her shoulder. She took hold of Jue's hand, removing it from her shoulder. She turned, holding onto his hand between the two. She was looking down and Jue wanted to comfort her.
"Is it…" Luna's voice broke, "Is it… okay if I go to the garden to be alone for a bit?"
Jue went to answer no, but he heard his mother's voice in his head, 'Let her go. She needs time to let her tears flow.' Jue sent an image of him nodding to his mother.
"Of course, Luna. This place is now your home. I'll make sure to direct everyone to leave the garden empty for a bit for you. I'll come check on you, okay?" Jue said softly.
Luna could only nod. She let go of Jue's hand and at first walked slowly towards the door. You could hear her dress flutter as she started to run for the garden.
