Jue sat there a moment longer to simply listen to Luna sleeping. He wanted to make sure that she wouldn't have any more dreams. If she did he wanted to try to wake her from them. The dream she had before, did not sound like a simple dream.
When he realized that she was peacefully asleep, he got up and left his room. He did have other matters to attend to. Like ordering a desk, chair, and writing materials for his study. Maybe he'd even order Luna something.
For once in his life, he thought to order something to be placed specifically in his study for someone other than himself.
"What is happening to me he thought. I want to share my study with someone after I just yelled at Flue because I wanted the study all to myself?"
He rubbed his forehead walking into his study.
"After 2 days and already I'm wanting to change my whole life for her. Is this normal? No. Maybe I'm just fairytalling myself." He laughed softly.
The servants had cleaned out his study. The ruined desk was mostly removed, except for some of the smaller pieces of wood that were stacked up by the fireplace. The carpet that the ink had ruined was gone. It left the cold hard floor to sit on, which Jue sat down on it huffing. His chair was gone. That was in three pieces. One of his pictures was being replaced since the bottom of the chair had somehow managed to make it through that.
He could only remember one other time he got that angry. After he found Flue in the courtyard hiding in the trees. One of the gate guards had touched her and left her broken. The guard didn't live. Jue had taken Flue on that day and set her up with personal guards. Father and he had hunted down the guard that hurt her and ripped him to pieces. He never told Flue.
He helped Flue heal, at least he hoped. Sometimes, when he saw her in the garden by herself, it looked like she wanted to burn the garden down. Other times, she looked free. Like when she was dueling with other guards in training. She was a master warrior. No one was a match for her.
He sighed heavily and rubbed his face with his hands. Flopping himself back onto the hard floor, he looked up at the corner of his study and burst out laughing. There was one of his quills, stuck in the wall, hanging on for dear life. He decided for all intended purposes, he'd leave the quill there. As a reminder for this sudden change in his life. His lost temper and the lessons he was learning. He was hanging on for dear life it seemed.
Luna woke up to silk surrounding her.
Silky... smooth... wait a minute these are so not my sheets!
Luna popped up and looked around. She took in everything around her, to the red sheets, the canopy bed, and the curtains that were covering the light.
She crawled to one of the curtains and pulled it back slowly.
Wow.... wow... Jue liked earthy colors.
Everything was decorated in ranges from browns, greens, and black. Luna slowly stepped out of his bed and looked around. She first walked over to his desk, it is a chestnut desk. She touched the feather pen.
Does he seriously write with this?
She pulled it off the desk and kept it in her hand stroking the feather. She continued to wander through the room, touching objects, and looking at paintings. She stopped in front of a picture of Jue and another girl. The girl had long silver hair and bright golden eyes. Jue and the girl were smiling and leaning into each other.
Luna touched the picture with the feather suddenly getting a pain in her chest.
I hope I didn't take Jue away from this girl. They looked to be happy together.
Jue slowly walked into the room seeing Luna holding the picture of him and Flue.
"That's Flue and I," Jue said.
Luna jumped and almost dropped the picture but caught it just as Jue reached to catch it. The quill hit the floor and Jue looked down at the quill and then at her.
"What were you doing with my quill?" Jue asked picking up the quill.
Luna looked bashfully at Jue, "Um.. I liked how the feather felt and it kept my hands busy to not pick or go through anything." she looked down at the picture.
"I just saw this and was looking at you and Flue. You two look really happy together." Luna tried hiding some of the pain in her voice. I just met the guy and already I feel like I'm getting jealous just because of this picture.
Jue looked took the picture from Luna and looked at it. "This was a while ago. She has changed a lot since then. I don't even know if the Flue I knew back then is still in there.... inside of her somewhere."
He signed softly, still looking at the photo, "We have always been friends since babies. My parents were going to arrange a marriage for her and I, but I denied it. Flue is too much of a treasured friend to me that I didn't want love to get in the way. If something happened between us that we caused to hate each other I don't think I would have been able to take it."
He looked up at Luna, "I probably would have never touched or talked to another woman again if I married Flue. I don't think she ever got over the fact that I only wanted her as a friend and nothing more."
Jue walked back over to the desk and set the picture down. He sighed softly looking at the picture.
"He sure is sighing a lot." Luna thought. "I wonder what's wrong."
"She doesn't agree with what you are doing does she?" Luna asked softly.
Jue looked at her and shook his head no. "I'm not quite sure how to get her to see what I'm doing, or what we are doing, is for everyone. This kingdom, your kingdom, and our families. So that we don't have to live this way anymore." He hung his head looking down at the desk.
Luna slowly walked over to Jue and took the quill out of his hands. She touched the tip of the feather to his cheek.
"Women's hearts can be hard as rocks but they can also be as soft as the touch of a feather. She sees the pain of your people and takes hold of it. She wants to heal it, but all she knows how to do right now is just hold it and bash it about… hoping that something will crack. She doesn't see the damage it's causing to the kingdom. If you've kept her within these walls most of her life, you've kept it from her so she can't see it." Luna went very quiet.
"It's the same way with my brother. He left because my father was marrying me off to you. My brother treasures me and my father treasures him. My father hid the truth from him about our arranged marriage until the last second." Luna reached out a hand to Jue, holding his hand.
"My brother doesn't want to end this feud. He loves the fight. He loves death and he loves conquering something. If anyone we need to be careful of. It's my brother... he has a strong voice and a powerful mind. He can get an army up and prepared to fight in a second. I fear him the most." She said looking straight at him.
Jue took Luna's other hand that held the quill and kissed her hand. "Dear, thank you for the warning. Now I understand Flue a little better. I also understand that some of her thinking is also my fault for keeping her in these walls for too long. However, I do not want you around her alone. She hates werewolves. Her family was slaughtered by a werewolf and she has never forgiven them. Please be careful around her, I don't want to see you hurt."
Luna nodded and smile at Jue, "I will be careful. I'll try and make sure I have someone with me... but remember I'm the only werewolf in an all vampire mansion."
Jue smirked at Luna, "Dear, you don't know that."
