“Get going! Go join the others! I’ll hold him off!”
Saul shouts to the slave girl. She didn’t respond to him as she was frightened by him. Even if he was trying to save her, she ran away from fear. However, that didn’t matter to Saul so long as she got away safely. Saul’s breath fell heavy on him as he acting tough in front of his enemy was not easy.
“What the hell is this? Is the south really desperate these days that they’re hiring kids to be their warriors?” Luminado said to himself. “Hey Kid! If I were you, I’d high tail out of here while you can. Make this a little easy for me and you.”
“Like I’d negotiate with a killer mercenary like you.”
Saul tightens his grip of his sword and shield. However, shortly after a few more Desperado grunts show up and unmount off of their horses.
“Captain!”
They spot Saul and charge straight to him. Saul blocks one of their swings and pushes them back then swings his own sword as he knocks one of them down. But he was knocked down from behind by the others. They try to pin him down but he bounces them off and stabs one of them with his sword through their neck.
“Little shit!”
Saul blocks another attack as he stabs another one through the gap in his armor between in stomach and crotch area. The third merc attempts to slash Saul from behind but was protect from his armor. He quickly turns and slash the merc’s neck and causing his neck to bleed out. He tried desperately to hold the blood back but he was losing a lot. Saul breathed heavily as he couldn’t believe he managed to kill three mercenaries on his own. But slowly the tension of killing crawled on his back as it was bringing back flashbacks of the first time. He sees the blood staining and dripping down on his blade. He lets a powerful swing to wipe some of the blood away. He takes a few deep breaths and turns back towards Luminado.
“Not bad for… a rookie.” He said.
Luminado unmounts from his horse as he slowly approaches Saul but he didn’t poise his blade. Rather, he drew back onto his back. Saul was confused about why would he put his weapon away? Aren’t they enemies?
“Walk away from this kid.”
“What?”
“You bailout, let me take care of my business and you get to live for another day.”
“And by “business” you kill the runaways?”
“Exactly. Rookies like you shouldn’t be on the battlefield. You’re just asking yourself to be killed on site. Walk away from this if you value your life. Take the smart choice if I were you kid.”
Fear once again crept up on his spine as everything in his body is telling him to run. His breath began to weigh on him again as he was breathing heavily. His hands trembled in fear as he felt like they could give away at any time. But he clutches his sword and regains his posture as he poises his blade towards Luminado again. Luminado sighed for his response as he was disappointed. Slowly, he walked over towards Saul as he reaches for his sword on his back. And as he approaches Saul, the size of his own height begins to intimidate him.
“Listen, kid. I’m only to say this one last time. You seem like a good kid don’t get me wrong. But you, throwing your own life away like this, isn’t for the faint of heart.”
Luminado drew closer and closer while Saul took a few steps back until he was right in front of him. He then kicks Saul several feet away. Even with the shield and armor, Saul felt the raw power of his strength from the kick alone. Luminado continues to walk towards Saul as his claymore sword began to give a faint orange glow.
“You try to be reasonable once in a while and kids won’t take advice even from their elders. When will you kids ever listen and use your head for once? The mercenary’s life is no walk in the park. Neither is it a cool gig to wear just to brag about. It’s always about kill or be killed, do what it takes to live … OR DIE!”
Luminado then downward strikes his blade towards but was blocked by Saul’s shield. Saul then pushes the sword back and kicks Luminado’s knee to offset his balance as he drops down. Saul then crawled back and grabs his sword again. Luminado laughs as he gets back up. Saul then charges and swings his sword at Luminado but was blocked. He then kicks Saul back as he chuckles and stands back up.
“Is that how you want to do things kid? Then let’s rumble.”
Luminado then reaches over his should and grasp the cloak. He then pulls as he tears off his cloak revealing the blackened armor underneath. On the shoulder pauldrons, the sigil of Desperado was carved into them. Saul recovers and gets back up. Luminado charges towards Saul and swings his claymore at Saul but dodge back and swings back at Luminado as both of their swords clashed with each other. However, Saul was being overpowered due to Luminado’s larger sword and massive strength built. But regardless of being overpowered, Saul holds his ground. When Luminado’s blade clashed with Saul’s sword, their blades slowly emanate heat from their clashing. He charges at Saul and swings his sword again and again even if they were blocked or dodged by Saul as he was pushed back further from the force of Luminado’s blade as he rolls into him and stabs Luminado in his hip but the blade didn’t penetrate deep.
“That’s it? I EXPECTED MORE!” he yells.
Luminado grabs Saul’s sword and kicks Saul several feet away. He then pulls out the sword and tosses it aside. The force of the kick winded Saul as he struggles to get back up, let alone trying to breathe in some air again. He turns around but sees a massive sword coming his way and barely blocks it with his shield. Luminado continues to swing harder and harder as he pins Saul down on the ground as a crater begins to form from Luminado’s force. But then he stops as he grabs Saul’s foot and tosses him back to the original spot where they started at. Saul looks up to see his sword laying on the ground a few inches from him. He crawls over only to be grabbed by his leg and was swung over to the ground by Luminado as he picks him up as he tosses and slams Saul to the ground several times.
“What’s wrong kid?! Where’s that bravery you had early?! Don’t tell me it was all an act!” Luminado shouts.
Luminado tosses Saul one more time across the field and switches his sword to backhand wield. He slowly walks over to Saul as he struggles to get back up. Luminado then swung his sword only to be blocked again but it was pointless as Saul was flung again. Disappointed, Luminado stabs his sword to the ground and slowly approaches to a weaken Saul who can barely stand on his own, let alone lift his shield to protect himself. He ditches the shield as he tosses it aside as he could barely stay awake.
“This is why kids like should always listen to their elders. Kids should never be on the battlefield in the first place. It’s a dog eat dog out here kiddo. You live only long enough to see the next day or die here to be eaten by the wolves.” He said.
As he reaches Saul’s side, he grabs him from the back of his helm and pulls him to see him eye to eye. He then grabs the visor of the helm and rips off, exposing Saul’s face covered in blood. He then lets him as he shoves then punch him in his stomach. Saul coughs out blood from the punch but then shoves and punched again as Luminado is taunting and provoking to fight back even in his weakened state.
“So, come on kid. You don’t want to die here do you?”(Punch) COME ON HIT ME! (Punch) HIT ME! (Punches twice) FIGHT BACK IF YOU CAN!” He yells.
For every yell, Luminado punches Saul back further and further back. The punches continue as Saul becomes infuriated and angry. Saul parries one of Luminado’s swings and headbutts him on his nose three times until he starts throwing punches back and roundhouse kicks Luminado back. Rather than getting upset, Luminado was pleased he’s fighting back. But before he could recover his composure, Saul grabs him by his head and knee kicks him a few times as he throws punches back at Luminado causing to lose his balance. But for every punch, Luminado was pleased as he hadn’t someone he fought, fight back while they were cornered in a long time.
“That’s it… that’s it… that’s it! THAT’S IT!!” Luminado yells as he grabs Sau’s arm and punches him back as it sends him flying back.
Luminado begins to cackle as he was finally feeling the thrill of a real fight. He extends his hand outward as his sword begins to response as it lifts itself from the ground and flies towards Luminado as he catches it mid-air and swings it around in his poise position.
“That’s it, kid! You’re starting to get it! What it means to fight back like your life depends on it! So come on! Show me more! SHOW ME WHAT YOUR KILLER INSTINCTS REALLY LOOK LIKE!” He yells with a psychotic pleasure tone in his voice.
Several yards away, Saul’s sword reacts as it senses danger for its master. Slowly, it turns towards Saul and Luminado as it lifts itself from the ground and dashes towards them both. Luminado was walking towards Saul as he rises back up again. Saul’s sword picks up speed as it dashes towards Luminado in an attempt to stab him from behind. Luminado sensed it however and swings his own blade to block it and sends it twirling up in the air only to land back into Saul’s hand. The sword resonated with Saul as the blade itself began to glow around its edges.
“You want me to fight for real? Like my life depends on it? You got it. Let’s dance.”
