Two hours earlier
"My Lord Duke, why are we attacking Landzing, are they not our allies?" said a bespectacled man, Duke Erhard spat at those words: "Allies! i could never be allies with that northern lover." Erhard hated all mention of the north after his only son died fighting in the Great War: "Count Joseph is a friend of Hakon so he is a traitor and traitors die"
Duke Erhard's Army of 5000 marched towards the walls of Landzing as they finally reached the wall Erhard saw count Joseph on the wall: "Hey you northern lover, the day has finally come, the day of the great cleansing," shouted Erhard. "Are you lost you old fool this is still part of the kingdom," shouted Joseph back, "I don't see southerners here but wannabe northern traitors the lot of you." "look Erhard even if you break through these walls your men will suffer"
Joseph then ordered his archer to loose as waves of arrows hit Erhard's men, "Destroy the gate," shouted Erhard. axe men ran at the wooden gate getting hit by arrow upon arrow until they reached the gate they started hacking at the gate until it broke as the gate broke spears hit the soldiers through the broken gate "my lord it seems they had spearmen behind the gate" said a tall knight "send more men to overwhelm them" shouted Erhard more men rushed the broken massacring the spearmen they poured into the city as joseph and his knights retreated to his mansion.
present time
52 Northmen charged at looting warriors cutting the wretched men down "quickly to the mansion" shouted Hakon "joseph is probably held up there Einar stay behind and hide on the boat" "yes uncle" answered Einar the northmen ran as humanly as possible towards the mansion attacking soldiers as they went they reached the mansion doors and smashed through.
Inside the mansion, the sight was grisly as bodies upon bodies piled up: "Joseph, where are you?" shouted Hakon. "Hakon is that you," said Joseph as he saw Hakon "Hakon what are you doing shouldn't you be with Prince Einar escaping"
""We heard the news that Landzing was under attack, so we came to help," retorted Hakon, "come now, we have a boat waiting for us at the dock, so we can fit about 50 more men on, "Where's your family?" "Dead Hakon Dead that dammed Erhard sent his men to kill them"
"I'm sorry friend, let's leave now you can take refuge with our tribe" Hakon, Joseph and 100 men ran towards the dock seeing the destruction Joseph sighed "this damn war has the king gone mad allowing this destruction" "he doesn't care as long as the north is wiped clean" answered Hakon they reached the boat and escaped.
At the mansion, Duke Erhard arrived "where is Joseph's body?" Erhard asked. ""My lord, it seems that he escaped," said a fearful soldier
"escaped how!" Shouting Erhard, "Well my lord, we have seen reports of a boat with a banner of the mountains on it." "damn it that is Hakons ship send a letter to King Albert about Hakon and clean up this house it stinks".
Two days later in the throne room a messenger passed a letter to the king. He started smiling "what's in the letter, son?" Matilda said."Hakon was sighted in Landzing following the river towards Breakneck Pass, answered Albert,
"Good we can take Hakon and Einar down if they reach the castle," Matilda said while smiling, "Send 10,000 men to grandfather and tell him to march on Breakneck pass immediately." "yes my king" the messenger answered bowing
"soon the new sun shall rise," laughed Albert.
the boat docked at the castle on Breakneck Pass, "My Lord, you are here," shouted a tall gaunt man, "Yes I am Bjorn, how do the preparations for battle go?" "Fine sir, we are nearly prepared for the southerners" "preparation uncle?" Asked Einar, "Did you know this was going to happen?" "before leaving the mountains i always place the pass on high alert for this situation," answered Hakon.
"Come know we will rest inside, Bjorn will find a room for Count Joseph and his men" "yes i will do as you say my lord".
Inside the castle, men were running around moving arrows and javelins to the wall "do you know the history of this pass Einar" asked Hakon "no uncle" answered Einar "this pass has never fallen to any invader no matter which army the always broke up the pass" "but uncle if the pass has never fallen how did we lose the great war"
"well during the days of the great war your mother had a vision that one day a northern king will appear and free our spirits the visions stated that on the day of the birth of that king the mountains will rumble. so we surrendered waiting for that day when we can be free from our bodies" answer Hakon
"But uncle, what does that have to do with me?" "On the day of your birth the mountains rumbled you are the northern king of the prophecy who will lead us from this world back to the spirits"
Einar thought his uncle was insane. How could a person who never wanted to become king be prophesised but if he needs to he will step up.
the northerners believe that one day they will shed their bodies and live with spirits in Andasalur. "Look, do not question the spirits, your mother was a goddess, you are a goddesses son these beliefs and traditions that keep us free," Hakon told Wisely. "Come now we have to finish preparing before the siege" Hakon and Einar walked toward the battlements.
"send a message to the nearby tribes to bring in reinforcements," said Hakon to the messenger "yes Lord Hakon" as he bowed and left "hopefully we can hold on for a few days" "uncle how many men do we have?" Einar asked.
"about 4000 but if the nearby tribes come, we will have 20,000 more." "Uncle are we going to lose?" "No, we will win, but the cost will be high come along to the chapel".
Hakon and Einar walked towards a chapel and saw a high priest there "Ah lord Hakon have you come for the spirits guidance" said the high priest "i have high priest Gudmund we need all the help we can" somely said Hakon "this must be the prince" The Priest gazed at Einar "you look exactly like your mother" "thank you high priest" said Einar.
"Well then I will leave you two alone to pray" "thank you high priest" Said Hakon as he bowed to the priest and left Hakon and Einar entered the chapel
