Aiden’s started breathing erratically, he was trying desperately to fight the panic that was threatening to set in. He rested his head against the door to stabilize himself so he wouldn’t crumble in a heap on the cold stone under his shaky legs.
“Mate..........kill..........pack.....revenge.”
Were they hear to kill him?
No no no calm down don’t panic. Don’t Fucking panic! His heart was racing a million miles a minute and his eyes started to see spots where None existed. Squeegeeing his eyeshot, his hands turned to fists and he could feel his nails digging into his palms drawing blood.
Tears pricked his eyes as he forced himself to take slow deep breaths, a slow stream of tears flowed down his face as he slowly straightens himself out. With one final shaky breathe he wiped the tears from his eyes and wiped his palms nervously against his sides.
Aiden hadn't been in this pack for long-only about a month. In that time he hadn’t gone out of the pack territory not even once. So there was no way he had made enemies. Unless you count the members of Mike's pack who were displeased with him being here, which were quite a few.
On his 18 birthday, he found out his long time friend Mike was his mates. He had been overjoyed especially when Mike said he would accept the bond.
His only condition was to have Aiden come live with his pack until the next full moon when they would perform the ritual in the form the Goddess blessed them with. They were supposed to hold the ceremony facing the Moon Goddess and showing their acceptance of one another to honor her.
But Mike had decided to postpone it to a later date, he claimed his pack needed time to comes to terms with their union. Aiden had disagreed on that specific point and that had led to their first argument.
Even though their families had been close since their fathers were children and best friends. Mike’s pack didn't take kindly to their Alpha making an Omega their Luna. Not to mention his grandparents were completely opposed to it as well.
Altho the pack didn't approve of their union they didn't necessarily mistreat him, only ignored his very existence. All those who held hopes of being the next Luna weren't shy about showing their displeasure to him when Aiden had arrived.
A loud crash against the heavy door jarred Aiden out of his thoughts. Whatever hit the door made a very loud yelp and blood started oozing slowly from under the door. Moments later a loud knock echoed through the hallway and fading as it reached the heavily packed bodies cowering further in.
“Hey? Little one you there?” came a whisper from the bottom of the door.
Aiden recognized the voice, it Belonged to the pack's Delta Allen. He had been the one left in charge this morning and the only one who had ever said anything half-decent to him since his arrival. Aiden scrambled down to the floor avoiding the blood as best he could.
“Yes! I'm here,” he whispered back.
“Good good...listen...” a cough cut him off and he cleared his throat.
“Try and get everyone to start evacuating. Through the tunnels and head into the forest.”
“I can't do that!" I hissed back panic slipping into my voice.
“You know they won't listen to me.” he finished with a sob.
The Alpha on the other side of the wooden block grunted and a chuckle gurgled with blood seeping through the crack.
"I know....I... Can you slip out alone?" his voice sounded almost hopeful.
Aiden stared at the door with disbelief. Leave and let everyone here to die or worse? No way he would do that!
As if Allen felt his distress he lightly tapped on the door drawing his attention once more.
"Mike accidentally killed the mate of the Blood Moon pack’s Alpha...his here to take revenge."
...
"You're not part of this...so if you leave at least you may getaway and have a chance to get help before we all get wiped out."
He had no argument for that logic it made some sense.
A knot he couldn't swallow lodged itself in his throat, nodding slowly he rose on shaky legs. Turning away from the door he noted that several people had overheard their conversation and started moving to make him a narrow path. This time not a single soul met his eyes, mothers, and fathers alike clutched onto their children.
Could he do it? Leave? He would have their lives on his concise for the rest of his life. He swallowed the lump in his throat and took a small step away from the door. With that simple move, it was like a ripple went through the crowd. They took a step making the small pace longer heading towards the small hatch hidden under the stairs.
A woman who had a some nestled in her the shoulder that looked no more the two was flat against the hatch tears streaming down her face as the young child slept. Aiden shook his head desperately trying to stop the tears from spilling.
Aiden gritted his teeth and gripped his shaky hands together. His wide eyes scanned the room taking it all in, the fear had quite even the children so when he spoke all heard him.
High a watery smile pressed on his lips he uttered, "It's going to be alright.” his statement didn't give comfort to anyone showing just how little they trusted him.
With a final shaky breath, he turned taking a hold of the beam that held as a barrier keeping the door from opening. The door swung slightly ajar giving just enough space for Aiden to slip through.
His feet stood in on the other side of the door as he heard the beam slam back into place, cutting off any chance for him to return.
Several sets of eyes turned in his direction. Allen was right next to him staring up at him in disbelief, if his jaw wasn't so tightly clenched together against the pain it would have probably hit the floor.
Oh, Goddess save him, what had he just done? How was he going to get out of this? Shaking himself mentally he scanned the scene before him, there was blood splattered all around and bodies litter the ground. The majority of which belonged to Mick's pack.
One of the Blood Moon members was leering at him as he licked his lips and took a step forward.
But before he could utter a single word Aiden spoke his voice sounding far calmer than he felt.
"Would you please direct me to your Alpha?"
The man found this to be quite amusing because he threw his head back and a full-throated bellow of a laugh escape his lips.
Aiden frowned at the man, guess that's a no he grumbled to himself. Shaking his shoulders, He expanded his lungs with air until his lungs screamed for him to stop. He gathered the remnants of his tattered courage desperate hoping his plan would succeed and lives would be saved he screamed at the top of his lung.
"I AM MIKE CAMPBELL’S MATE!"
