Meanwhile back at the mountain….
Haley was looking around for her parents.
“Hello? Mommy? Daddy?,”
There was suddenly a low growl to which Haley’s ears perked up. She sniffed the air and turned around in fear.
“Oh hello there… little one,” the lynx said stalking closer to the fox kit.
“Hey! Get away from me!,” Haley said backing away and taking a defensive stance with her hair standing up on the ends.
The lynx kept getting closer, not looking threatened at all, Haley was so small that to most grown animals, she barely came up any higher than a paw.
“Aw… cute... where's your mommy and daddy little girl?,”
"They're...close by," Haley responded
“Oh well then. I'm sure they'll learn to keep their young kits even closer next time. Some lessons animals just need to learn the hard way,”
Haley backed away, her defensive stance melted. She whimpered out of fear of the giant hungry predator in front of her.
“Don’t worry. I'll make it quick,” the lynx said, bringing his claws out.
The lynx lunged but Haley dodged and ran off screaming, she knew she wasn’t fast enough to outrun a predator, and she was too little to fight him off, she needed to hide. The lynx got back up and looked at the fox kit with blood-lust in his eyes.
“Come back here you little-,” the lynx growled as he ran after her.
The two ran towards the river that ran down the mountain. Haley got there first and even though she tried to stop she ended up slipping and falling in. The lynx followed soon after. The two struggled but successful managed to keep afloat while going down the river.
