There lived a fairy boy and a prince. The fairy boy who’s name was Natsukashii was fair, elegant, and loved by many. He had hair like clouds made of dark tea, eyes like bright galaxies, ears that were shimmering yet sharp, and a pair of wings that were colored like the sun and the purple night sky. But alas, the boy could not speak, for a traumatic experience from his childhood forced him to give away his voice in fear. That didn’t stop him from expressing himself like all the other fairy kids though.
The prince whose name was Alexander was kind, friendly, and helped as many people as he could. Everyone in the kingdom told him that he’d make a great king one day, and they were right. But he had a secret. A secret no one could know. Every twenty-nine days, Alex sneaks off to the fairy kingdom to explore, meet new people, try new foods, and buy souvenirs.
But this time, it was different. As he strolled through the small village, he sensed someone watching him nearby. He looked somewhere and saw a figure for a split second before it disappeared. His curiosity piqued, and he decided to investigate. He threw his book bag over his back and walked over to where he looked, searching for signs of the figure. Amidst his searching, he found a trail of purple, sparkling fairy dust leading into the forest.
He took a breath and started to follow the trail, soon walking into the forest and focusing on the trail. As he walked, he noticed that the trail suddenly split from the natural dirt trail and led behind a tree. He slowly walked over, careful not to startle whatever hid behind the tree, and found Natsu hiding behind it. He didn’t stray or run when he found him. Instead, he looked into his eyes with curiosity and stood up.
They now stood face to face. One was speechless with curiosity, and the other was speechless because he couldn’t say a word. Alex was in awe at Natsu and began to raise a hand to touch his cheek when Natsu gasped and flinched back. He pulled back his hand and put it to his side. He gave a soft smile and gently walked towards him.
“Don’t be scared. I want to be your friend,” He comforted. Natsu gave him a confused look. He didn’t really expect him to follow him, but a part of him was glad that he did. He pointed to his back, requesting that he have something from his backpack.
“My bookbag?” Alex quizzed. Natsu nodded and pointed to his back again with a small grin.
“Don’t worry! I have lots of things we could use,” He smiled, taking off his book bag and sitting to rummage through it before finding a small notebook and a small pen. “Is this what you want?”
Natsu gasped and nodded with joy. Alex smiled and handed him the notebook and pen. Natsu promptly began to write something in the notebook, showing it to Alex once he was done. It read,
“My name is Natsukashii. I’m a mute fairy. I’m sorry about watching you.”
“It’s okay! No need to apologize,” He smiled. “Your name is very pretty. I’m Alex.”
The fairy grinned and wrote in the notebook again and showed it to Alex. It read,
“Thank you! Would you like to come with me?”
“Where shall we go?” He quizzed. Natsu drew a picture of a village that looked similar to the one Alex lived in.
“You want to go to my village?” He questioned. Natsu nodded with a grin. Alex would love to take him, but his village was humans only. Not only that, but his father didn’t like fairies. He didn’t want to tell him the bad news, but he didn’t want to risk him getting hurt or worse, Natsu’s grin turned into a frown, and he sorrowfully sighed. He sat on the grass and wrapped his wings around himself. Alex felt pity for the fairy, so he came up with a proposition.
“Hey! How about we explore another village? Or even find somewhere new? Would you like that?” He suggested. Natsu looked up at him with a small grin and wrote in the notebook again. It read,
“I’d like that. Maybe I can show you a place I like!”
“I have to be back after midnight, but we can spend the whole day together,” He advised, making Natsu smile more. Alex helped him off the ground, and they left the forest together.
“Where do you want to take me?” He quizzed. Natsu wrote in the notebook and passed it to Alex. It read,
“It’s a place I think you’d like. You seem very interested in fairies.”
“I am!” Alex chirped. “How’d you know?”
Natsu hesitated before writing in the book. It read,
“..Every twenty-nine days, I always saw you come into the village. I’ve been curious about you lately, but I never had the guts to come up to you. I’m glad to have finally met you.”
“I’m glad I met you too! You’re very handsome,” He complimented, prompting a blush from the fairy. Alex blushed and gave him a soft grin. They came to a stop, and Natsu wrote something in the notebook that read,
“We have to do some flying to get to the place. I hope you’re not scared.” He then held out his hand for Alex to hold.
“Me? Scared? Of course not! Lead the way!” He smiled, taking his hand. Natsu returned the smile, spread his wings, and took off from the ground and into the sky. They held hands tight, careful not to let each other go during the flight. As they flew, Alex got a bird’s eye view of the land.
“This is beautiful!” He praised. Natsu nodded in agreement, passing over the fairy village and Alex’s home. Soon, they came across a field full of flowers with a small cottage, a small berry bush grove, and a lake. Natsu and Alex landed in the fragrant and soft field of flowers with a grin. Alex looked around in awe.
“This place is amazing!” He chirped. Natsu agreed with a grin. They frolicked through the field, made flower crowns, played with butterflies, swam at the lake, picked berries, and rested at the cottage. They laughed and ate berries together as evening fell upon the land.
“Wow! That really happened?” Alex quizzed. Natsu nodded and wrote in the book. It read,
“Yeah! It was a good idea since they had the same idea for a costume.
“Maybe we should spend Halloween together,” He suggested, chomping on a raspberry. Natsu nodded and wrote in the notebook. It read,
“Maybe this time I may be something scarier, like a werewolf!” Alongside his writing, he wrote a small little sketch of a wolf and a moon. It was cute and well drawn.
“You’re quite the artist!” Alex praised. “Do you always draw?”
Natsu nodded and wrote again. It read,
“Yeah, but I’m quite shy about it. I’d like to show you more of what I can draw.”
“I’d love to see more!” He chirped. Natsu gave a grin and turned the page, quickly making a drawing with the pen. Alex watched as he made clear and steady strokes, practically bringing the picture to life. Once he was done, he showed it to Alex. It was a portrait of him.
“Natsu, I love it! You made it perfectly!” He chirped. Natsu blushed and fluttered his wings. Alex found it quite adorable
“Is there anything else you can do? Something magical maybe?” He suggested. Natsu gave a nod and turned the page to write in the book. It read,
“Yes, but I’m pretty shy about that too. I don’t use it in front of people I don’t know or trust. Are you sure you wanna see?”
“Yeah, go ahead! I won’t be scared,” He chirped. Natsu gave him a small grin before closing his eyes, taking a deep breath, and extending his fingers so that his palm showed. A soft light began to swell in the center, quickly engulfing the room in light. Alex shielded his eyes and squinted, making out an object he couldn’t quite see well. Once it’s light dimmed down enough for him to see, he gasped in surprise.
In Natsu’s hand floated a light yellow star with a pink heart shape in the middle. It was nothing like Alex had ever seen before.
“What is it?” He inquired. Natsu picked up the notebook, leaving the star-heart to float as he wrote. The message read,
“This is a star-heart. It’s..how I spread love amongst people. The star adds more emotion to the heart inside. I can make it fly like a shooting star, shape it into a constellation, and even make a light show. Not only can it make you fall in love, but it can make you happy. It releases serotonin, oxytocin, and dopamine to further the effect. The feeling is similar, almost just like how one feels after an orgasm. It may even enhance the effect if used during that time.”
Alex blushed at the last part but he still gave a grin of interest and joy.
“How interesting!” He chirped. “Will it always be summoned with a huge burst of light or can you control that?”
Natsu quickly wrote down an answer. It read,
“Pretty much, yeah. There aren’t many fairies with this power mainly because humans, creatures, and even other fairies want to have it for their own. They can learn it but even that isn’t enough for them. They want that power from the source, and we’re not giving it up for anyone. But..because of this, they take it from us anyway, so we have to conceal this power and rarely show it out in public in fear of having it taken.”
“That’s just inhumane!” Alex exclaimed. “Taking someone’s power for your own gain is greedy and cruel.”
Natsu nodded in agreement before writing something again. It read,
“Yes, but it is a very sad truth. Luckily, we’re currently working on a way to keep this from happening, and fairies with this power, also known as love-star fairies are protected by the village. We’re usually known for our kind demeanor, ombre-colored wings, and brightly colored eyes. We’re not hard to spot, and we fit in perfectly.”
“It’s great that you’re protected. I’d go mad if someone hurt such an innocent and sweet soul such as yourself,” He cooed, softly brushing the fairy’s cheek. He closed his eyes and leaned into the touch with a soft exhale.
