Later that night…
The two young animals were continuing on the path. Tony narrowed his eyes trying to make everything out in the dark. Walking a good distance behind him, Haley was trudging along looking completely exhausted and dragging her paws.
“I’m soo tired…. It’s too dark,”
Tony turned to face her annoyed.
“You’re a fox. Your night vision is better than mine,”
Haley gave him a look and Tony rolled his eyes.
“Oh nevermind,” he grumbled.
Tony noticed something off to the side of the path and walked towards it. Haley raced to follow him.
“Wait. Wait up. Where are we going?,”
“We’re going off path fox,”
“No I mean,” Haley stopped and let out a yawn. “Why?,”
“I saw something,” Tony answered.
Tony finally spotted a tree along with several big rocks that provided shelter. “There it is. We'll sleep here for the night. Come on,”
The two walked over to the tree. “Get some rest. We’re gonna keep going first thing in the morning,”
Tony laid down a distance from where Haley was sitting, lying his head down on the tree trunk.
“I miss my mommy and daddy… I hope they’re ok. I know they’re ok. We’ll be together again and-,”
“Haley!,” Tony snapped.
“Huh?,” Haley said, a little taken aback.
“Shut up,” Tony said annoyed.
Haley looked a bit hurt. “Oh… ok,”
“Thank you. Go to sleep,”
“Ok,” Haley said depressed.
Haley started walking over to where Tony was sleeping, which he saw and immediately sat up to stop her.
“Ah ah!,” Tony exclaimed.
Haley stopped and looked up at Tony. Tony motioned to the opposite side of the enclosure.
“Over there… somewhere,”
“Uh.. right,”
Haley walked over to the other end and went to sleep.
The next morning…
The two were back to walking down the path. Haley was humming to herself while Tony looked annoyed.
“No,” Tony started simply.
“Huh? No what?,”
“No to everything involving that,”
“You know you could’ve just asked me to stop. I would’ve,”
“Ok. That’s it. Gonna walk about 10 feet ahead of you, you better hope there isn't an eagle around here,”
“What?!,” Haley said freaking out about getting swooped up by a eagle.
“Look let’s just try to get to valley’s silently, ok? ...Ok?
Tony looked back behind him. Haley wasn’t there.
“What… where,”
Tony began to look around for the fox kit.
“Kid? Kid?!,”
