“Then, let’s go on a date.”
Chester blinked in confusion. He—to be honest—didn’t expect that request. Oh, well, maybe he expected it—but, also, he didn’t expect Sebastian to actually ask for it. That was such a bold and sudden request.
Sebastian gulped, though his throat was dry as desert. Contrary to his throat, his forehead was flooded in cold sweat. He was nervous. He knew it was a bold request—and that he might come off too strong—but, well, why didn’t he shoot his shot anyway?
Unexpected to Sebastian, Chester burst in laughter again. “Dude, that’s cute,” he managed between his laughter, while Sebastian was drowning in shame. Though, after Chester calmed his laughter, he replied, “Cool. Where are we going?”
Terrific! Sebastian beamed in glee, barely containing himself from bouncing in joy. He clutched the tray in front of his chest to keep himself from flying away. “We can talk about that! I’ll text you later,” he decided, trying his best to not sound too eager.
Which, of course, failed. He was too eager that he didn’t seem like he tried to hide it. Well, it was cute, anyway. “Sure,” Chester agreed. “Text me. I’m free this Saturday.”
“Of course!” Sebastian replied once again, before he spun in awkward motion and stumbled his way back to the counter like a robot. That was entertaining, Chester would say.
Chester didn’t expect the ‘later’ would be only a few hours after lunch, though. He was still at the office—though his work was almost finished—when his phone vibrated. A text came through from Sebastian.
“So, where we going for the weekend?”
He chuckled at the message, as he could hear eagerness in the tone of the chat. Thinking of what to answer, he cocked his head to the side. He really didn’t have a plan whatsoever. Well, Sebastian could make the decision for this one. “Where you wanna go?” he typed and hit send.
“No idea. Movies?”
Such a cliche date idea. Chester coughed to suppress his laughter. “Sure. Any movies you wanna watch?” After sending the chat, Chester put his phone face down on the desk, pulling his chair closer to the desk and leaned a little too close to his PC. Adjusting his glasses, it seemed that he had to remind himself he still had work to do.
However, once his phone vibrated, he picked it up without second thought. Sebastian sent him several screenshots of movies that were currently playing. A smile made its way into the corner of Chester’s lips, unable to be contained. That felt too cliche for him, honestly. When was the last time he went to movies?
“We can talk about it tomorrow.”
And chat sent.
The next lunch, Chester arrived at Blue Rose as usual. And as usual, Sebastian was there. Honestly, it seemed that he became used to see the younger man behind the counter. According to what he learned, it seemed that the part-timer worked almost every weekday—except Wednesdays—to the point he felt like a permanent employee rather than a part-timer.
Well, he worked to replace his sister, so Chester could see why he took so many shifts.
As he approached the counter, rather than placing his orders, he unlocked his phone and shoved it to Sebastian. “Which one you wanna watch?” he asked, scrolling through several screenshots of screening times that Sebastian had sent him.
Although taken aback, Sebastian took the phone right away and scrolled through the several movies title. “You don’t wanna pick?”
“Nah, you pick,” Chester shrugged. He folded his hands on the counter and supported himself as he leaned in to look at the screen. “I don’t want romance, though.”
Sebastian snickered. “I don’t really like romance too, dude,” he admitted.
The office worker pursed his lips and raised his eyebrows. “You sure? A cheesy guy like you?” he teased, glancing at the part-timer.
The part-timer shrugged, picking another title. “Is action alright?” he asked. “I wanna watch this one.”
As Sebastian scooted to show the screen, Chester leaned in to see. “Oh, sure,” he agreed, accepting his phone back. “Then, I’ll buy the ticket. What time?”
“Afternoon?” Sebastian crossed his arms, unsure.
The office worker nodded. “Sure,” he agreed, putting his phone into his pocket before finally placing his lunch order. After paying, he turned around. “See you tomorrow,” he said and waved before making his way to a table, leaving the dumbfounded but excited Sebastian behind.
Had it not been for Caleb nudging him from behind, Sebastian would stay in daze for quite a while. “Get back to work,” Caleb scoffed, although his tone was a little teasing.
“Oh, sorry,” Sebastian chuckled awkwardly, scratching the back of his head out of habit. He turned around, making his way towards the coffee machine while humming.
Caleb clicked his tongue in a teasing manner. “You’re really happy now, huh?” he asked, approaching his part-timer to pat him on the back. “I don’t care about your love life and shit, but please flirt outside of working time, will you?”
Covering his mouth with his hand, Sebastian coughed to hide his embarrassment.
