"Just who the hell do you think you are?" She demanded.
"Uh?" I responded quite aware she's trying to intimidate me. "I'm Seraphine, I thought you knew that!" I'm not that stupid but I'm sure that answer will piss her off.
"Ugh!" She exclaimed frustrated. "I don't know what he sees in a nobody like you but let's just say it'd be better if you just broke up." As if to add salt to the wound she added. "Poor bitch." And slapped me.
"Awwwww hellll no. You better step off!" She just flipped the bitch switch. I used to be passive and let people walk all over me but that landed me in the ER from my crazy ex boyfriend so this crazy bitch better watch it because I'm not letting her mess with me. "Yeah I'm poor, so that means I have nothing to lose so don't fuck with me." I've been good about dropping the F bomb recently but this is totally an exception. I got in her face and did the come at me motion.
She seemed taken back, it wasn't the response she was expecting. "Crazy bitch." She muttered under her breath and scurried away, her expensive heels clacking frantically.
"That's right you better walk away!" Part of me is a bit sad, I wanted someone to punch and get all of my recent stress out on, oh well. Just gotta find my way back to the booth now.
The crowds around all of the booths were even worse now, I found myself struggling to figure out where I am, and getting anxious with all of the people around. I need to step outside. There's way too many people here, like come on I'm a nerd, I can't handle being around people! I joked to myself as I stepped outside and sat on a nearby bench. I took a deep breath and leaned back to relax a bit. I watched the traffic jam of cars trying to find a spot at the convention, and people hustle and bustle around, despite the constant jingle of car horns it was much more relaxing out here.
Welp, I better get back inside, people may start to wonder where I disappeared to. Things seem to pretty well be in full swing in there, I probably won't really get to look around and do much so I better just get back to my company's booth.
Sigh. I'm not great with people but trekked back inside anyway. People were crowding everywhere, pushing and shoving to get a view of the newest gadget. It felt hot and sticky and damn some people really needed to shower. I felt a bit sick to my stomach, honestly this conference looked better in video, guess I didn't take into account my total hate for crowds. I wondered around, but still couldn't find the crew, they weren't even at our company's booth. Eh screw it, if they're done I'm out of here. Maybe I'll see if Tripp will take me back during an off time that isn't so busy, but then again it's not like he has all of the time in the world to do something like that. We've all probably got to get back to work soon. Oh well, too many people here for my tastes.
I walked outside again and took a seat. Do I have Tripp's number? Isn't that like a requirement now days in order to date? I mean I'm pretty sure he has mine but I can't remember if I actually kept his or deleted it in anger. I took out my phone and scrolled through contacts. Oh hey I do have it. I tapped on the contact and sent him a text asking where he's at. Seriously where did everyone disappear to? I'm about ready to walk to the bar next door, nothing like drinking to forget your woes for an hour or so.
I popped my heels off for a second and rubbed my aching feet.
"Those heels didn't look to comfortable." A masculine voice chuckled.
I looked up, it was Jay. "Yeah they aren't."
"What are you doing out here?" He asked sitting next to me.
"Got seperated from the group so I came out to take a breather, what about you?"
"Ah yeah it's pretty crowded in there. So, what's up with you and Tripp. Not to be rude, but everybody is pretty shocked. He's not exactly the dating type. I'm more curious than anything." He got straight to the point didn't he.
My phone buzzed, showing a reply from Tripp, who is apparently just chilling in a conference room, wanting to know where I disappeared to. I responded that I'm outside talking to Jay, one of the investors.
He look genuinely curious, but I didn't really have a great answer so I replied. "It just kinda happened I guess."
He looked a bit disappointed but continued on. "What background with him do you have? He said you two go way back."
"Er." I replied, I don't even know this one. "We used to know each other when we were young."
"Interesting. I'd love to hear more about that sometime. Heres my card, it has my cell on it." Jay thrust a card into my hand.
"There you are!" A voice interrupted us.
I looked up and saw Tripp, he didn't seem too happy I was sitting so close to Jay. "Jay how are you today, any questions about the meeting I can answer?"
Jay narrowed his eyes. "Tripp, I'm doing well, just getting to know Sera a bit more is all." He got up. "I'm a bit intrigued to be honest, but I suppose I should get going."
Tripped glared at him as he walked away and turned back to me. "Don't get too close to him, he eats pretty women like you up and spits ya out when he's had enough." Weird but okay I get his drift, he's jealous.
"Uh okay." I don't really even know the guy so not an issue. I stuffed the business card in my purse and got up. "Anything else on the agenda for today? There's way too many people in there."
" Yeah it's much worse than last year. Tell you what, I'll finish up here and give you a ride back to the hotel." He began walking back to the building.
"W-wait. What was all of that stuff back there about us dating?" I finally worked up the courage to ask. "I mean we haven't really talked about it or anything."
"Ah well I guess I figured it was something left unsaid but acknowledged since we've slept together a few times now." He replied as calmly as ever.
I took a moment to think about it as I tagged along behind him, he walks fast. "Yeah okay. I'm willing to give it a shot."
Just like that I've found myself in a relationship with one of the most successful men in America.
