After walking for sometime. Tony found a cave that was completely vacant. Tony entered the cave and looked around.
“Here’s a good spot for tonight,” Tony said.
“Awesome!” Haley responded jumping off Tony’s back. She was about to follow him to the middle of the cave but then remembered he didn’t like her getting that close last night and reluctantly curled up next to a rock some distance away from Tony. “Goodnight,” she said.
Tony smiled at her and lied down towards the middle of the cave and went to sleep.
Haley’s dream…
Haley was walking around the mountain where her cave was looking around for her mom and dad. “Mommy? Daddy? Where are you?”
Suddenly the ground rumbled and cracked.
“Mommy?! Daddy?!,” Haley called again getting scared.
The herd of caribou raced down the mountain in a stampede right towards them. Haley started to run trying to get away from the stampede.
“Mommy! Daddy! Help me!” she exclaimed.
A caribou ran into her sending her tumbling off the cliff screaming.
Haley woke up in a cold sweet, she looked around, remembering that she was with Tony and calmed down a bit. There was a flash of lightning and a thunder clap that got Haley to flinch. She looked outside to see that the storm was getting closer. Haley looked over at Tony who was fast asleep and without thinking, she ran over to him. Slowing to a walk as she approached Tony’s side, Haley looked up at the older wolf with a small smile. The wolf made her feel safe when she was around him. Haley laid down and curled up at Tony’s side trying to be careful not to wake him up and went back to sleep. Tony had woken up feeling the pressure at his side and looked over to it to see Haley sleeping. At first Tony looked at the fox kit angrily before another lighting flash and thunder clap went off directing Tony’s attention to outside. He felt Haley move and saw the fox kit recoiling and trembling slightly. Tony suddenly realized what had happened and smiled at the fix kit. He rubbed Haley’s head gently which calmed her down and got her back to sleep. Tony went back to sleep himself, this time positioning himself around Haley in a protective manner.
The next morning…
Tony and Haley woke up with their stomachs rumbling.
“Huh. Guess it’s been a while since I hunted something,” Tony commented.
Tony walked out of the cave and sniffed the air for a few seconds. “Rabbits. Perfect. You wanna come Haley?,” Tony asked, stretching.
“Um… I would. But I can’t hunt yet,”
“Oh… right… I’ll bring you back something. Wait here,” Tony said.
“You got it,”Haley said.
Tony stalked the rabbits in the clearing as they were grazing. Tony pounced and two rabbits let out squeaks before dead silence.
Haley stayed exactly where Tony left her until Tony came back with two dead rabbits in his mouth. Tony walked over to the fox kit and dropped the two rabbits in between them. ”Eat up,” Tony said.
“Whoa! Thanks Tony!,” Haley said, grateful before beginning to eat the food.
