"And on your left is the famous Giza pyramids." The tour guide said. "Normally we would be exploring the safe parts of the pyramids but due to a recent collapse in of the tunnels we are unable to do so."
Dagny knew what she was talking about. Because he was the very reason that tunnel collapsed.
It had been twenty full runs and five short runs since he fulfilled his dreams with Emir.
Since then, he had been searching for the source of his powers and prevent it from rewinding again. His research had led him up to the ancient Egyptians.
In 2024 there had been a discovery of a new tunnel in the Pyramids. But for some reason, the contents of the tunnel were kept secret from the public.
There had been many theories online. The most popular of which was that there had been found wall that depicted a society that was older than the Egyptians had lived there.
Every tunnel, every wall he tried had been a dead-end for Dagny. There was one place he didn't look left. The biggest of the pyramids, the Pyramid of Cheops.
Dagny slipped away from the tour group and headed for the pyramids trying to look unsuspicious. There was a research camp right outside of the pyramids. He snuck into the camp and looked around.
People there seemed to be in a bit of confusion. People were running left and right, arguing about many topics Dagny didn't understand.
There was this one man heading for the public restroom.
I don't think it is legal to build this close to the pyramid. Well, that doesn't concern me. He noticed the man heading for the restroom had hanged his coat outside of the restroom. That may come in handy.
He grabbed the coat and searched its pockets. There was a security card in one of them and a swiss knife in the other.
He walked towards the entrance of the pyramid. There were two muscular security guards standing there. He approached them, sweats forming on his back.
"Can I see your card, sir?" one of them asked.
"You may," he said and handed over the card. The guard pulled out his phone and scanned the card. *Ding*
"You may enter, Dr. uh Richards," he said. He sounded pretty annoyed.
He started to look around for something that didn't look "Egyptian". He looked under every pebble, around every wall, down every stairway but couldn't find anything.
He was pretty tired and decided to give up and restart again. Maybe he would have a chance if he were here In 2024.
As he was heading back, he saw a hole in the stairs. It was roughly as wide as his... swiss knife!
He was unsure why a scientist would have a swiss knife on him from the moment he found it. Maybe the reason was connected to this. Or maybe he was too tired to think straight.
He inserted the knife into the hole, it fitted perfectly! He waited for a second. Nothing. Waited again. Nothing.
He gave up on the idea and tried to get the knife out of the hole but it had stuck in there. He pulled with all his strength but it didn't budge at all.
He pulled for the last time and accidentally twisted it. That's when the stairs started the move, revealing a wall with hieroglyphics on it.
Dagny had predicted this would happen, so he had learned hieroglyphics before coming here. It was a bit different. There were characters he didn't recognize. He could roughly translate it.
It was a prophecy.
