"Ugh I can't get comfy!" I grumbled in disbelief. I had gotten spoiled from spending all that time in the fancy hotel room with Tripp, now that I'm back to my shit hole apartment all I want to do was go right back. I squinted at the small tv, I mean it's not that small but looked like a cracker box compared to the hotel's. Either way I needed to play video games for a couple of hours to relax. I pulled out my phone to check my online bank statements, only $80 left. No way I can afford a bigger tv, I'd be lucky to get through the rest of the month on it. I put the phone down and picked the gaming controller up.
I started an online match, but in the back of my mind I kept thinking about what work would be like tomorrow. I haven't told Mason about this whole dating thing, and honestly I don't know how I'm going to tell him. We've been friends forever it seems, so he's going to be offended I didn't tell him all this shit that was going on. Not only that, but news about it is bound to spread fast, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole office knows by tomorrow. Will things be different there? How will I face Tripp at work?
Come on time to relax! I thought to myself just as a bullet hit my character, effectively making me respond. "You son of a bitch!" I yelled at the tv, luckily I hadn't plugged in my mic yet, it was just what I needed to get me back into the action.
Buzzzz, buzzzz. Ugh I'm in the middle of a round, I can't answer that right now! I didn't stop to see who was calling, probably just a solicitor, hardly anybody calls me anymore anyway. After a minute it stopped buzzing so I focused on the game. Buzz! It quickly vibrated showing I had a text. Well whatever, it's going to wait, I'm killing it! Top of the leaderboard baby!
"Boom!" I jumped up and celebrated the victory. "I could drink to that!" I picked up the phone to take a look at the text. "Please don't be work, I'm not coming in on my day off!"
I unlocked the phone, it was Tripp, I guess I should have seen that coming. "Don't you answer the phone?! That asshole!" I furiously typed back that I was playing video games, what do you want?!
I chucked the phone back at the couch, but almost immediately after it started ringing again.
"Hello?"
"You should answer the phone more often!" Tripp replied.
"I was playing video games, what do you want?"
"Ouch somebody's in a bad mood." He chuckled. "Listen Ms. Grumpy, I have the day off so I figured now would be a good time to take you out to dinner and bring you back to my place to show you the next gen console you wanted to see."
I kind of rolled my eyes. "Yeah I'm so sure that's why you want to bring me back to your place."
"Hey I'm a man aren't I? I'll still show you the console though, you have my word."
Ugh I do really want to see it, "Fine."
"Great I'll pick you up in an hour. Wear something nice, oh you could wear that dress from the company party. It made your ass look fine."
I quickly glanced around my apartment, it was really in need of a good cleaning. "Er how about I meet you outside."
"You don't want me to see your apartment? Oh I get it, you haven't cleaned up and you're embarrassed." Bingo he hit that right on the nose. "Well whatever just be ready in an hour."
"Sure." I mean I'm hungry so why turn down free food? Especially rich bitch food.
So much for playing video games, but free food! I went to the closet and looked for a suitable dress. I guess the little black dress really is the only one I have that is really fancy without looking business like. I matched the black dress that hugged my curves just right with the heels Tripp bought to go with the business suit. They looked great with the dress. Guess I better do my hair and makeup too. Ugh so much work for my day off! Come on Sera, free food. You love food and you love free food!
I sighed and grabbed my makeup bag. I finished up just in time, I grabbed my purse and phone, but the doorbell rang, Tripp is here like ten minutes early! Ugh so much for letting me wait outside for him. Guess he was curious what my place looks like, it's so shabby to the lifestyle he's used to. I went and opened the door. There Tripp stood with flowers in one hand and chocolate in another. How thoughtful! I don't think anyone has ever given me flowers.
Tripp kind of invited himself in. "So this is your place. Wow it's so small! Like the size of my bathroom!"
"You sure know how to be romantic." Like way to kill the moment with criticizing my place.
"Well let's get going, we have a reservation to make." He wrapped his arm around my waste and guided me out to his car.
It was a different car this time, another sports car but I wasn't as familiar with the brand, it looked just as expensive though. "How many different cars do you have?"
"Huh you know I'm not sure, I'd have to go home and count them."
"You'd have to count them…" Wow I'd just like one new car honestly. I've never gotten a brand new car off the lot, that'd be amazing to have.
"Oh yeah I have my own parking garage, it's filled with all my purchases. I got drunk once and bought like 15 cars or so. The butler was so mad when they showed up and he had to do something with them, and that's when I had the garage built."
"How can you even just buy that many cars on a whim? I almost had to starve when I got drunk and bought a game console on a whim."
"You really aren't paid well are you?"
"Well it's not like a lot but it's enough, I had to spend a lot of money to start over since my ex and the hospital bill and all."
"What's that douche bag doing now days anyway?" He asked, stopping at a red light.
I perked up surprised. "Wait do you know him?"
He almost looked a little confused. "Well yeah? Wait you don't remember that either?" He placed a hand on my head. "He must have done a number on you that time. I'm really sorry babe."
Okay now I'm confused. "Well anyway last I heard he knocked some whore up, but I don't think he knows if it's actually his."
"Huh got somebody pregnant huh? I could see living the family life." He smiled a bit.
"Huh didn't take you for the family type guy, well not me. I don't want kids. I'm happy with how things are, I don't think I'd be a good Mom anyway."
"Really, you don't want kids? You seem like such a caring person, I think you'd be a great Mom."
"Yeah I just don't see it happening."
"Well whatever not a deal breaker for me, a CEO's life is packed and busy anyway."
It's nice that he's understanding, not that I've given my future too much thought though. Sometimes I have trouble deciding what to eat for dinner. I just kinda prefer to see what happens and not look too far into the future sometimes.
"Hey we're here. I'll just have valet park the car." He got out of the car and gave valet his keys, then walked around and got my door.
"Wow such a gentleman!" I joked.
"Well I didn't want valet driving off with my beautiful girlfriend!" He sure is a smooth talker.
"Gonna have to do better than that if you want to get laid." I joked.
"Eh it was worth a try!" He chuckled.
"Good Evening Mr. Cederick, please follow me to your table." We both followed the waiter up the stairs.
"Wow!" I gasped, the table Tripp had reserved was on the top floor, there were candles set up and a skylight window over the top of us which was currently open, everything was so beautiful! He not only reserved the table in the center of the room with the best view but he reserved all of the surrounding tables so it can be just us.
I could for sure get used to being treated like a queen, but at the same time feel like I can't get too used to this, as sometimes relationships just don't work out. I need to remember I'm basically jumping head first into a world that is not my own, and I don't belong here.
