"Nnnnn." I placed a hand on my aching head as I slowly awoke from my slumber, groggy and disoriented. My head was pounding and I couldn't really remember much from the night before. I felt sick to my stomach, I slowly pulled myself up and looked around. The last thing I remember is hitting the booze table. Ugh I really need to get a grip on myself, I just can't help myself aren't alcohol.
"Where am I?" I groaned, taking in my surroundings.
I don't recognize this bed, or this room for that matter. It's a whole completely different style and color scheme than the one I'm used to. It felt more like a guest room than a room prepared for a queen. It just felt so empty and lifeless with no love put into it. Even the sheets felt lower quality. Where am I?
I slowly crawled out of the bed, and realized someone had changed me out of the stuffy dress from the night before. I now sported a much more plan dress that was loose and much more comfortable, though not really form flattering or pretty to the eye. Which to me was okay because it didn't feel like my internal organs were being squeezed out like a bottle of ketchup.
I stumbled to the door, still a bit disoriented from the previous night of drinking, to be honest, I'm a bit hungover. I cracked open the door, peering slightly out to take in the surroundings and check if it's safe. I didn't recognize the corridor either, I think I'm in a completely different castle. What exactly happened after I blanked out? How much did I drink?!
A few chatty maids passed by the door, smiling and giggling to each other, carrying dirty towels in their arms. I opened the door just slightly more so I could see more, they didn't see me so I took that as a good thing. Their uniforms were completely different than the ones I saw at Alex's castle. These were gray with white aprons compared to the more traditional black uniform back home. I waited for them to pass before I opened the cracked door wide enough to sneak out and tip toe down the hall, investigating my surroundings more. There were cases, plants, and other decorations in the hallway. The castle wasn't over done with gold and marble like Alex's, it seemed more practical with cheaper but just as strong materials but equally as beautiful. The wooden floors felt cold against my feet which only had thin socks on to protect them.
I took the time to explore more, resisting the urge to open random doors to peer in. I kept walking down the long hallway, all the doors looked the same, how did anyone know which room is which? I guess it really just took time to get used to the layout. I finally reached the end of the hall, which led to what seemed the main entrance. It had two stairways that curved a little to give it a bit more flair. I assume it leads to the entrance, to which I plotted my escape route. However, below was bustling with activity, both maids and butlers came and went with a quickness to their pace. Too hung over to really come up with a plan, I decided just sprinting at top speed would be the best plan of action. I neglected the fact that I had small legs so had to take one step at a time. By the time I reached the bottom I already attracted everyone's attention.
"Oh dear! She's trying to escape. Alert Mr. Lee." I hear a butler say to someone who quickly ran out of the room.
Mr. Lee? So Alex is here? Oh well I'm going ahead with the escape plan, this may be my only chance to do so.
I sprinted to the door, yanked it open and was nearly out the door when I felt a pair of arms wrap around me. I felt a warm breath in my ear, "Just where do you think you're going?"
I winced as I was dragged back inside. That voice, it sounded familiar. I whipped around and caught a glance. “Aero!” I gasped. “Where the hell am I?!”
He chuckled, motioning for his butler to close the doors, releasing me when they were secured. “Welcome to my castle. I have to say, I’m quite intrigued with you. You look so similar to Gwendalyn.”
“Okay, first off.” I gave him a sassy finger wag, “This is none of your damn business, second, you better let me go before Alexander finds out I’m missing.”
“Oh,” He looked back and laughed slyly. “But didn’t you hear? The real Gwendalyn is well enough to take back the crown. Leaving you with absolutely nothing.” He waved his hand carelessly. “Tossed aside like trash, because you never meant anything to them, just a crown warmer. Poor you.”
My stomach dropped. “What?”
