As I step out into the world the wind chill me a little as Autumn weather does. I see the pavement littered already with red and brown leaves while the trees of Smithward Lane desperately cling onto their remaining yellow and orange leaves.
I love Autumn the leaves are nice.
"Well let's get ourselves into the car John" my mother says as I shut the door behind myself.
"Yes, let's do that" I say as I start to walk down the path of the front garden to her black 4-seater car. I open the shotgun-seat door and get in sitting on the warm comfortable leather seat closing the door once I'm in.
Okay I'm in the car I repeat I'm in the car, just a quick drive to school is all that's left.
My mother sat down on the seat closing the door behind her and putting the key in the slot. She twists the key and the engine comes on in seconds. We fasten our seatbelts and she begins the drive.
We drive down the lane turning right as we leave it into the busy road.
Fuck Crowshill morning traffic, this will add to our journey, I just want to silently sit in class away from this car like God fucking dam-
"So, what lessons do you have in school today dear?" My mother says in an attempt to fill the gaps of stopping in traffic with small talk.
"Maths first, computer science second, then break, double chemistry third and fourth, then lunch and history last lesson." I respond trying to get small talk over and done with.
"Double chemistry sounds rough, also don't forget me and your father won't be home till late tonight we're going on a date."
"I know you won't be home you have date night every Monday."
Despite how evil they are my parents are in love still and also fuck yeah home alone time to game, nothing can ruin my game time.
"Just reminding you dear" My mother said as we wind are way up the hill of Crowshill through the winding traffic.
I wonder if this cycle of emptiness will ever end can I just reach the good part of life soon.
I zone out beginning to contemplate random facts and ponder some wacky bullshit. This process carries on until I feel the car pull to a halt and hear my mother say "we're here dear, have a good day".
"Thanks for dropping me off at school and also have a good day too mother" I say exiting the car and closing the door behind me. I begin my walk from the school gates towards the school door glancing at it.
Crowshill high, named that as it is at the top of Crowshill and a high school.Clever you could call it.
I take a deep breath in and think.
I will survive here, Crowshill is no hill to die upon. I will survive here and transition later but now the trial of my final year is commencing.
