Mike was freaking out he had not expected that the Blood Moon Pack Alpha would call him to arrange a day for them to have a civil conversation. And at the moment he was headed straight here.
Mike had lost quite a few of his allies at the meet and had been struggling to keep the ones he had. Malachi had agreed to come into his territory since there weren't many neutral grounds for them to meet at.
Once he had gotten back from the Pack Meet he ordered his Delta to tell him everything that had happened a few months back. He had no idea what Malachi had meant when he accused him of letting his mate take responsibility for his mistakes.
Allen relayed the occurrence of that day and how Aiden had offered himself up as long as Malachi spared the rest of the pack. He of course accepted and took Aiden with.
Allen had insisted that he told this all to the council Mike’s father han put in place when he was alpha. Mike had left them to deal with certain issues that he wasn't good at just like his father had before him.
Most packs didn't have a council because it often caused a rift between the pack and the Alpha which Mike had learned the hard way.
After his return from visiting a few of his allies and receiving even more disturbing news. His allies thought Mike was a mere figurehead and the counsel had made it seem they held much of the Campbell's power. He disbanded the council banishing those who challenged him and lost. He now had full control of his Pack once again.
A howl went up signaling the approach of Malachi and his men. Mike straightened himself out taking one less look at his Delta and Beta then headed out to meet his guest.
Malachi was riding a horse which was strange. Not many befriend horses since wolves often hunted them. He slowly slid from the horses bear back whispering in the stallion’s ear who noted and bolted.
Now they were face to face, his pack crowded around watching what would happen some held their breaths while others called out welcoming Malachi.
"It's good to see you survived.” He stated nodding to Allen who stepped forward extending his arm to Malachi form of a greeting. Malachi didn't miss a beat he clasped the other man's arm and patting Allen on the shoulder.
"It's great to finally meet you under better circumstances."
Malachi nodded turning to Mike who was watching the entire encounter unfold before him.
His Beta was not as pleased as Allen to have the Blood Moon pack’s alpha in their midst and was making a show of it.
Malachi’s eyes never left Mikes as his head slid to the side.
"Well are we going to stand out here all day or are we heading inside?"
Mike cleared his throat and extended his hand towards the door for Malachi to enter. Before his Beta could enter Mike stopped him.
"You will behave yourself this meeting is a good thing for the pack and I will not have you ruining it. Have I made myself clear?" He hissed at the man who nodded but Mike wasn't satisfied and pushed his dominance at the alpha until he relented exposing his throat.
With a final huff Mike walked inside.
"It's good to see that you aren't a mear figurehead like I've been led to believe,” Malachi said from next to the door eyeing Mike from the shadows.
Mike was surprised but wasn't willing to show it. He didn't even sense the other Alpha behind him and the knowledge shot a cold shiver down his spine. If Malachi had decided to kill him Mike would have seen it coming.
Three of them set down Brutis, Mikes Beta refused to sit and merely stood nearby leaning against a post away from Malachi.
Some refreshments were put out before them but nothing seemed to peak Malachi’s appetite. After some time of no one speaking and Malachi not touching his food, the omega who had prepared the meal got very anxious.
"I..is so..somthing wrong w..with the fo....food Alpha?" the young boy had his head dowed and was wringing his apron in a similar fashion as Aiden often did with his own, it brought a smile to Malachi’s lips. His smile faltering when he saw the numerous bite marks on the boy's neck.
"No not at all I'm just used to my bond’s cooking. You could say I’ve been spoiled rotten. Now how old are you boy?" Malachi asked eyebrows furrowed
"Si..sixteen Alpha.” the boy seemed to be panicking inside but it showed in how hard he wrong his apron.
"Humm would you mind bringing something for my men outside I would greatly appreciate it.” he received a curt nod the omega's ears turning bright red as he rushed to obey.
"How about we get down to business? I have a few questions that you may have answered to.”
Mike almost choked on his food at the the abrupt change in Malachi’s demeanor.
For some reason, Mike felt the need to apologize but wasn't sure what exactly for.
"Of course, I apologize. I'm not sure what you need answers to exactly but I will try answering them to the best of my abilities.
Malachi accepted his answer nodding deciding which question to ask first.
"The day you encountered my wife what exactly were you doing and where we're you. And I need specifics."
Mike sat back against his chair abandoning his food and fixing his eyes on Malachi when he answered.
"We got a call of a rogue attack on one of our allies to the east of us. We were heading back home when I spotted your wife with four others heading in our direction. We were not yet on our turf so we took precautions. A couple of my me hung back to assess the situation. When they came back she and then four with her were with my men." Mike paused and took a sip of his water.
"I was surprised to see her since she wore your rqpacks insignia on her cloak. This next part you probably won't like are you sure you want me to redàwe
Malachi just nodded.
"Fine but I warned you so do not hit me later" with a sight he continued the story. " I'll emphasize that we were not on our terror. She asked who I was and what pack I belonged to once I told her she immediately challenged me for my title for Alpha. I refused but she pushed even shifting in front of me and challenging my wolf. We responded to her call and had a fair fight it only a few short minutes I won and she lost, it had been done. I shifted back but she attacked me from behind, my instincts took over and before I knew what happened she was lying lifeless at my feet. I'm being totally honest with you there was nothing I did to provoke her."
After Mike had finished hevwaited patiently for the other Alpha to speak.
"The four with her did they wear the same insignia?”
Mike's brows furrowed thinking back finally he shook his head. " No, it was a rose with a dagger behind it. The only reason I remember it is because one of my men recognizes it since his wife was from the same pack."
Malachi nodded again "Thank you, your information, was very helpful."
Silence fills the space before Malachi spoke again.
"I should have spoken to you first before I made a decision but I don’t regret it. My wife’s death I regret but not what came after."
Mike understood the meaning of his words although they stung. Aiden found a place he belonged to. Mike was happy for him in his own way, if he could change anything he would have never led Aiden on in believing he would accept the bond.
Mike felt bad for Aiden but other packs was very different from the sheltered life Aiden had been living in. Mike would need to make an advantageous marriage to support his pack.
Mike was the one to nod this time.
Malachi stopped at the door and looked back.
"I'll be taking the abused little omega outside with me if there are others you feel that need to leave they can come with us too." With those words, Malachi stepped outside waiting for Mike to emerge as well.
Ten minutes later there was a group of twenty or so Omegas huddled together all with similar bite marks on their necks. Some voiced aloud their disgust of the omega's and some gave them a wide birth. The men Malachi brought formed a protective circle around the group.
"Are they the only ones?"
"Are you serious about taking them all them?"
Another nod and Mike gestured to one of his men receiving an order dashing off then returning with five others, each and everyone looked frightened and ready to bolt if the need arises.
There was one set that proved troublesome. A mother and her daughter, the mother clung to her daughter refusing to let her go screaming that it wasn't her fault.
Her eyes bore into Malachi’s "She is all I have left.” She sobbed desperately clinging to her child.
Malachi shook his head "You can come with her if you want.” he said with exasperation.
Mike was speaking with Allen and some of the other pack members about provisions for the travel and was distracted enough for Brutis to voice his opinion.
"Why the fuck would you want used omegas in your pack? They are probably carrying the bastered children of those rogues inside their bellies and you still want them?” he spat on the ground near the frightened omegas none of Malachi’s men were very impressed by the gesture but closed ranks to keep the Alpha away from the group.
"No wonder everyone thinks you pack are a bunch of omega loving pussies!" that insult ruffled a few feathers his men bristled at the insult.
Mike's reaction came too late as a very nimble omega swung down from the rafters instantly wrapping the alpha’s neck with his legs and a snap later the man lay on the floor very much dead.
Luke spat on the alpha then turned around facing off with Mike who was beyond speechless so where the rest of his pack. He just started too dumbstruck to form words.
When Mike saw someone hang from the rafters above Brutis’ head he was quite surprised but when the his man hit the floor with a sickening snap Mike had every intention of killing the man who dared to kill one of his men in front of him.
He froze as the creature turned around eyes burning with rage. Meeting his eye without flinching stood an omega. He wore all black with leather straps that held numerous daggers and what looked like thin steel wire with small handles on either side tucked into the straps.
Mike looked to Malachi who was now doubled over laughing unable to catch his breath.
"I apologize for my outburst." The omega was saying stopping to frown at Malachi. " My actions were inexcusable...would you shut up! I'm trying to apologize here!"
Everyone’s eyes whipped back to the omega who was fuming.
Malachi raised his hand in apology but couldn't stop.
Mike didn't understand how this was a laughing matter some omega came out of nowhere and killed his Beta.
Malachi stood up wiping tears from his eyes ”Sorry his one of mine but the look on your face was priceless."
" Shall we call it even?"
