The leader takes the rises and falls, but the text holds the key.
One week after the robot zombie delivered the fairy queen’s message, she came. She also told me that there was one condition for her help. She said that when we died, all three living commanders of the humans, Alaina, Murphy, and I would serve her for eternity. We quickly agreed. She planted the seeds and started the plants’ growth wherever there was an acre of land with no debris. The three commanders, as we were now called, had either just sold our souls to an angel, or the devil herself. She seemed like an angel, but did any of us really know her? Either way, we had saved humanity… for now. What would happen next? Now that Zoe had what she wanted, would she help us again? Ever again? Would she treat us like tools? Who knew? Who knew what the future held? Who knew the future crises humanity would face? Zoe did. I needed to convince her to help me.
I decided to take a walk, all the stress was getting to me. I saw people everywhere trying to salvage anything they could. There were teams retrieving the robots, and putting them in storage. There were people trying to find anything at all that was edible, looking for animals, any food from pantries or such, even weeds so long as we could eat them. There were people looking for clothes, or fabric to make clothes. There were people clearing away rubble. There were directors, and mothers, and children. Fathers and sons and rich and poor. It didn’t matter who you were, you did your part. I commanded, I thought of solutions. Others foraged for necessary goods. Others moved the ruins of our past lives. Others looked for our robots. Others watched the children or oversaw the work. Everyone did something. Everyone did everything they could do. Even children did anything they could do, even though they all had adults watching them. I even saw the weird aliens helping us.
Everywhere I looked, someone was working. I decided to go back to my office. There wasn’t too much i could do, but I could work on our affairs with the aliens. I needed to prepare for a meeting i had with them. I only had a few more days until the three commanders were scurried off of earth to meet with the aliens’ leadership. We hardly knew anything about the aliens other than what I had learned in the fairy queen’s library. I decided to go there once again in search of information. The library inside of the bookshelf, the one that had my universe’s oracle, had all sorts of information and guides. All of them written by the fairy queen herself! The only problem was that all of it was disorganized. All of the books were written by one author, so the method of organization based on the author's name doesn't work. The library was also purposely disorganised because if i wanted an answer to a question, I would have to be willing to go through an entire library to get it. Every answer to every question was here, I just had to find it. I also couldn’t reorganise the lid0brairy because Karin would put everything back the second I left. These boots weren't allowed to leave the library unless I got special permission.
Though, as the books didn’t shift around, I was able to go and return, as I searched the library. I didn’t have to re-search the library every time I came to this library.
Already in my time searching, I had found a lot of useful guides, but none that I was looking for. I had spent about 92 hours here in the past week, and I couldn’t find anything about the “chimeras.”
I locked walked over to the far wall and climbed a ladder up to the tenth floor. Then, I started looking for a book about chimeras amongst the thousands of books.
After what I guessed was about an hour, I finally found a book titled “Up-to-date hierarchy of all sentient species in the milky way galaxy for noobs,” I pumped my fist in the air. I finally found something to explain at least a little bit about the chimeras. It at least told me their social standing. The book was alebit thin, but it was still pretty useful.
Apparently, then there were five tiers of sentient species, and they were ranked based on the level of technology they were able to create and operate. They had to do both of those for it to count. The top tier species were both very low in numbers, most species were extremely lucky if they ever even saw one. One of them was called the Chamhurs, they were doglike and aggressive. The others were the Scihmets, they were usually catlike and often thought of themselves as better than everyone else. This often caused full scale wars that got almost every species except for the lowest tier species involved. They had a truce with each other currently, but it was doubtful that it would hold for long. They were both looking for an excuse to start a war.
The next tier down from them held about ten species, four of which were loyal to the Chamhurs, five of which pledged loyalty to the Scihmets and one of which aimed to be in the top tier and was loyal to no-one. The third tier down held twenty-seven species, twelve of which usually backed the Chambers, nine usually backed the Schmets, and six generally switched sides almost every time the top tier species fought, or stayed out of it. The fourth tier was where the chimeras fit, it housed forty three species, and very few of them were ever influenced by the fighting of the two top tier species, and usually tried to stay out of it. They were usually fighting each other, and playing “games” with fifth-tier species. The fifth-tier species included humanity, they were the species that had never been able to get out of their solar gsystem. There were… I didn't want to count how many.
