Flashbacks to Present - MULTIPLE TIMELINES
In the midst of a forest so dense that it was impossible to tell if it was night or day, Professor Grim and baby Noche were led by their captors across a secret trail. Rotting wood and hidden fungus filled the air with the scent of decay. The forrest, once full of life with the chirping of birds and insects, was eerily silent in this particular place. It had been days since they left their island, and now, they had no idea where they were. Soon they stood before a shimmering, slightly invisible, hexagonal orange force field. A slight opening appeared in the barrier and the DeathTech soldiers forced them inside. Before them laid a cliffside clearing with a small funny looking castle near its edge. Almost cartoonish, the castle looked like it was comedically designed to mock society with its appearance. Below the cliff was sharp crags and raging waves; with the ocean barely audible this high up.
In front of the castle was an old tree stump with a massive humanoid bear sitting upon it. He wore faded electrum colored half-plate with some chainlink leggings and helmet. His claws were as long as baby Noche and his thick brown fur had some patches of gray on his chin and chest. His left shoulder pauldron looked like a castle tower with arrow slits. While his right arm was unguarded and was wrapped in beaded leather bands.
He stood up and lifted his gargantuan, door-sized, blunted sword made of solid ebony. Still holding onto her grandfather’s hand, they were both lead towards the bear. If it wasn’t for Eddy pushing him forward, Grim would have been more hesitant to approach such a massive creature. Noche shook a little, but forced her small feet to move forward. The bear man smelled like a musty wet dog and patches of dried mud hung on the fur of his legs. Even without standing close to him she could feel the immense heat his body gave off.

She paused, and then hesitantly took one step in front of her grandpa.
"Hi... I-I’m Nacho."
Grim broke his gaze from this creature long enough to give a glance downward.
“Its Noche dear.”
“I’m Noche.”
“Hello there Noche.”
The bear’s voiced bellowed as he lowered down onto one knee.
“Don’t got a name, people call me da door guard. Pleasure meeting ya.”
TICK
TOCK.
In a long, hallway like, room sat a wooden desk with two normal chairs on one side and a sole regal chair on the opposite. The wall paper of the room was divided horizontally in the middle into two main colors. A profound royal purple above, with a blistering orange and yellow vertically striped wallpaper below. A golden handrail covered the top of the orange and yellow wallpaper, while the yellow strips contain vine like embellishing.
Along the purple section of the wall was many various wall mounted candelabras with unusual violet flames that follow every other yellow strip in proportional spacing. With the weird combination of colors on the wall, the orange being exciting and the purple being draining, giving the room an attention-grabbing effect to anyone inside. Despite the regal bearing of this room, it smelled of rotting meat.
The table was crowded with weathered papers, fountain pens, an inkwell, a photo of an orange hair boy in a stray jacket, a singular feather, and a green book titled THE FAIRYTALE OF CREEPS. Professor Grim and baby Noche sat in the two normal chairs, made of fine smooth red velvet with golden trimming on the edges. Being naturally curious, Noche looked all over the place. However, her Grandfather remained rooted in place, nervously. On the opposite side of the table, facing him, laid a single brass nameplate. PRESIDENT EDWARD.
Near this nameplate was a row of ghostly, violet flamed, candles residing in some golden chime candle holders. On the left and right side of the largest chair in the room were three of such candles. The massive regal chair had its back facing Grim and Noche. On it were three DT carvings at the top middle, top left, and top right of its back. Beyond this chair was a massive wall sized painting that took up ten feet horizontally and twenty feet vertically; President Edward’s name was on the plaque at the bottom right.
"Have you eeeeever read this Fairytale?" The voice behind the chair asked "It's a reeeeeeally good one. It acts as the foundation for our beloved DeathTech."
Professor Grim shifted in his seat.
"What I like most about it is how the monster hides in plain sight.” The voice said, "I’m glad to hear you’ll assist DeathTech with hiding in plain sight. Won’t you? Professor Grim and child?”

"WHAT?!"
Six-year-old Noche stood in a hallway with two other children; both appeared to be ten. One was a girl with long red hair. The other was a boy, with orange hair, in a stray jacket.
“What do you mean you don't have Names?!" Noche said.
"Sis, I’m begging you. Ignore # 00-04-05-01-04...” The fatigued boy said, “She's only been here for two years.”
Noche turned to this boy. She looked him down and back up.
"Then how about I name you _____"
Noche spoke, but what she said was inaudible.
"-OH!!!" The sister interrupted, “What about me?! Anything’s better than #19-16-01-18-11!"
At that moment some faulty wiring received a surge of electricity. Sparks flew everywhere and both girls nearly jumped. While the boy with orange hair was completely unfazed; not showing a single trace of fear. As the two girls laughed, Noche got a look on her face and she pointed to the red head.
“THAT’S IT!” She shouted, “HOW BOUT SPARK?!”
The little red headed girl stared at Noche with star filled eyes. Standing on her tippy toes, she clasped her hands together in joy.

Ripples appeared on the force field with each falling leaf. Returning from the large portion of forest within the barrier, Noche held her hands up to the bear guard.
"It's a cenna ma... cema ta... centa ma…”
"Ya mean centipede?" he asked calmly.
“YEAH!”
The bear smiled contently.
“Looks interesting. What’s MMMM… Most cool, bout it.”
Noche started to ramble about all the legs as he patiently listened.

"WELCOME # 02-15-15-20-19"
The cold voice of the automatic door said as it opened. The stray-jacket boy with orange hair entered the room.
“Noche?” A faint hint of concern in his voice.
She sat before a pathetic looking cake. Banners were loosely hung about, half of them had fallen onto the ground, and the little that did stay up was no higher than a child’s short reach. There were seven candles on the cake, all burnt out. Tears, that were poorly held back, began to well up in her eyes.
“He promised.” She whimpered, “Grandpa promised he’d make it.”

The massive orange forcefield shimmered in the light. From the outside, it distorted the view of everything inside; effectively making it invisible. Within the barrier, a nine-year-old Noche ran towards the bear guard with all her might. Seeing her approach, all he could do was raise an eyebrow in confusion. That was, until he saw the gray ball of fur she was carrying. Then the confusion was quickly replaced with concern.
“NOCHE!” He darted toward her, “CAREFUL DAT’S A-”
“BAXTER HE’S HURT!”
Baxter dropped down to one knee and placed a massive paw on Noche’s shoulder. He quickly inspected her and let out a quick sigh of relief when he saw she wasn’t hurt.
“Noche dat’s a vulf!”
“NO HIS NAME IS MOON-MOON!”
Baxter stared at her for a moment, then blinked. The little wolf like creature raised its head and barely opened its four eyes. Noche started to bounce on her toes as the strange wolf whimpered.
“BAAAXTER HE’S HURT! HE NEEDS OUR HELP!”
The bear sighed, he knew the conversation was over.
“Right… Fine… I got personal stash ov bandages.” He smirked, “Let’s get em treated. And Noche, keep tiz secret, k?”
“BAXTER THANK YOU!”
The bear smiled.
“Who knows, maybe da vulf will re-ember you.”

Noche, now twelve-years-old, stood just inside the open front doors of the castle. Nearby was Baxter and the boy in the stray jacket. Both watched as the orange hair kid stretched and prepared for his mission. Noche couldn’t help but grind her teeth in envy as he effortlessly did the splits; while she struggled.
“HOW? How Baxter? How does he do it?” She asked, “I wanna be that flexible tooooooo!”
“Need practice.” He smirked, “Kid’s Ghh… Got, years on you.”
“I’m gonna do break dancing,” Noche said “Break dancing is cool as hell!”
TOCK
"Sorry boy".
Outside in the snow, an approximately sixteen-year-old Noche faced a strange wolf with four eyes. She now had long blonde hair down to the mid of her back. Wearing a white tank top with a gold anchor logo on the back. The bottom of the tank top was frilled like a dress and adorned with an encircling logo of anchors on a rope. Finally, she wore a very rebellious, but fake, chain on her needlessly tight jeans.
"My friend is in trouble. I have to help him.” She said "Don't worry, I'll be right back. Promise.

The orange hair boy, now an adult, stood in the ageless purple and orange room. The back of the regal chair laid before him.
“Sir, I’ll personally take double the punishment. You can take any part you want.”
“That's not how our game works." The voice said "Your sister has a purpose here too~”
“LEAVE _____ ALONE!" Yelled Noche. "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!"
“Ohhh? It's been such a long-time child. I’ve forgotten about you."
TOCK
"Did you ever read that fairytale I told you about... You didn’t, did you?"
TOCK
"Such a shaaaaame... It's really good." The voice said "Creeps, the monster... who prefers children, hides in plain sight and consumes those whose fear reaches their highest.”
TOCK
In Noches’s memory, the surroundings of the world began to burn away in holes; almost like old cinema film.
"An ancestor of mine wrote it actually, after discovering the POE’s seal.” The voice said “Our family traditions are the core themes in this book.”
The chair beyond the desk began to turn around.
"You want to know who I am?"

"I am Edward Death."
The man’s face was as long as a plank and as rubbery as chewing gum. He wore weird circular goggles that seemed embedded into his flesh. His cheeks had weird holes connecting into his mouth. Five enormous teeth from above and below formed together like a beaver’s pinching jaws. Finally, he had a weird bulb of flesh for a nose, meat slabs for eyebrows, and his skin appeared like old leather with all his wrinkles. With that, the holes in Noche’s memory completely engulfed everything... Until nothing remained.
