Mei was bleeding and very weak. As a normal person, I called an ambulance.. Or rather.. I took her to the hospital. Good thing it was only a block away and all I had to do was run my way to the emergency room.
When I got there, it was flooding with people.
"Why so many late at night? "
I called a nurse to assist us, and it took a while, but one came.
"Good eve- oooh, what happened to her?"
The nurse looked at her, deeply concerned.
"I found her being beaten up by young ass kids. You know... a teen thing."
She understood and quickly grabbed the materials she needed.
Mei passed out and I couldn't nurse her. It also occured to me that something major could've happened as well if I didn't bring her here. They gave her bandages and cleaned her up a bit, they gave her painkillers as well while I sat there waiting.

"Hello sir, do you have her parent's contact number? It'll be great if they know what happened to their daughter late at night.
" Ain't she got an ID with her? "
" nope."
" oh, well, hate to break it to you but, I don't."
I said, my hands doing the "I don't have anything on me" gesture.
"Oh, well, She couldn't go home if none of her family members are to come and bring her home. "
The kind nurse stated, concerned with the kid's well being, and how Mei was gonna rest for the night. She couldn't avail a room for her since the hospital was full and she was not of major causes, plus, the emergency room is also pouring with patients, If Mei had the strength to stand, she cannot stay in bed for very long.
"I can handle."
Mei insisted on going home alone.
"Are you deaf? She said you can't go unless someone picks you up. Tell us where ya mom is... Or dad."
I said, her face slowly bowing down, and her hair covering her eyes.
"I said I can handle."
She said again but firmly. She was certain she could go home alone with all that bandage in her body.
"Ya look like a friken mummy over there, how are ya supposed to go home eh?"
I said, Mei slightly offended, she raised an eyebrow.
"Then what are you gonna do huh? Take me home? "
She said, slightly annoyed that she couldn't get out.
"Yes I would gladly if only miss. Nurse over here would let me."
"oh, well, whatever suits you guys, I just want the kid to reach home safely. "
The nurse replied with a genuine smile.
"Great! Then let's get the hell outta here."

"You could stop here, I can handle this on my own"
I stopped my own tracks, getting infuriated as the second goes by.
"Kid, how many times do I have-"
she interrupted, saying
"I said I can do it. My house is only a few blocks away and If my.. Parents, are waiting for me outside and saw me with you then I'll get to even more trouble."
The firmness in her voice was so strong, she didn't even hesitate to say
"Do not bother with me any longer."
I was perplexed with the way she addressed it. I was frozen on the spot and did not know what to do.
The distance between us was growing. Further and further, and in a blink of an eye, she was gone.
