The week went by so fast, I didn't even realize it. It went by with a blink of an eye, but the paperworks didn't. How I wished it just dissappeared so easily. My, this is the first time in existence where I actually want to grow old and die. Its really boring when its like, you just know what will happen to you tomorrow since it's like you're repeating everything every single day until maybe, my funeral.
I yawned, my teary eyes that looked at the view outside. Kids fooling around, some clinging to papers and studying, while others just pass boredom by messing with others. Typical day for anyone, however, the Campus felt so empty. Its like there's a hole -..
Oh, right. Mei.
The thought of her disappearance once again took over my mind. I've been worried sick without realizing, and I probably went overboard when I said "I need a distraction".
It just seems odd for her to do that. And.. Why doesn't her parents reach out? I haven't even received a note or a short message to update us what had happened to her. I don't know why, but there's this feeling that I have to know what's going on.
Sure, some students dissappear here and there, come back whenever the hell they want, but Mei seems like a kid I need to pay attention too. She's not your typical quiet kid, not your typical student who gets bullied either. She's just there. Ever since I met her, I had this feeling that I should watch over her. The urge to know if she's alright, if something's bothering her and if she's doing well on her own.
To be honest, I haven't seen her parents at all. Parent-Teacher conferences happen here and there, and events where alot of people are welcome to watch, not a single occasion, have I seen her parents. I also noticed, she doesn't attend field trips, or any activities outside school. She doesn't smile, look anyone in the eye, she doesn't dress to impress, and she looks awfully thin and ridiculously tired. Her eyes so dull and numb, she looks sick from time to time. Now that I think about it,
"If they see me with you, I'll be in even more trouble."
"If my.. Parents, see you"
Huh.. I don't want to assume, but..
Is she being abused??
It kind of explains the sudden bandages from time to time,
Her questionable injuries, and the way she reacts whenever she hears the word parents.
How is she at home?
That one event that sparked a million questions and unconsciously disturbing imaginations lead me to a point where I had to find out what's going on with her. I know I've done this before, secretly investigating and gathering knowledge of Mei's life outside school, and it all went to nothing. This time however, I will dig the best of my abilities, and try to unravel the hidden problem with a mysterious student who doesn't seem like she's there.
And with that, I decided to visit her neighborhood after school.
~Time Skip Friday ~
It had been days, and I've scanned the neighborhood, asked around, and no one seems to know who Mei Dela Rosa is. I was sure I haven't mistaken the address. I've checked it multiple times, I even searched her older profiles. Apparently, she's lived in the same neighborhood ever since, so it doesn't make sense as to why no one knows Mei Dela Rosa. The neighborhood was small and everyone was sure they know who lives im every corner of their place, and not once did they hear of the Dela Rosa Family. Maybe they go in a different name?
Different identities?
The house that stated in the address isn't owned by anyone in the name of Dela Rosa.
Strange as it seems, I even checked the nearby neighborhoods, Yet no one has heard of the Dela Rosa Family.
I was getting infuriated bit by bit. Not a single damn thing makes sense!
My thoughts are going wild, it even went to a point where I thought they're high class criminals that fake identities and stuff.
Blasphemy! I need a break.
I stopped by a store near the school. I bought a couple bottles of beer and washed away my worries. It really isn't in my list to go fbi mode on my students, and it certainly isn't my business to peak into just a dim light of their life. Unless I had permission of course. However, just remembering her face, she really seems like she needs help.
My thoughts were slowly fading away, the alcohol eating my consciousness as the second goes by. My worries washed away, and my mouth a graveyard of regretful and unconscious words. Minutes passed by, and my vision went blurry. Everything like pixel art, abd the faces I will sure not remember the next day.
With that last shot of beer, I've fallen in the hands of deep slumber.
