My eyes slowly opened, my once blurry sight suddenly fixed clear images. I moved and stretched, the comfort of the bed I slept-
Wait.. A bed!??
I jumped as I scanned the area I am in. Such interior, certainly isn't mine. Clothes were all over the place. Not just mine... I saw women clothing overlapping mine. Underwear that was so lacey-
Oh my God Jaime... Please it isn't what I think it is.
I turned to my right, the sheets moving up and down ever so slowly, the bumps that seem like human curves, and the soft breathing that tingles every inch of my body.
I gulped, preparing for the horror and regret I'll feel once I remove the sheets of the breathing being.
My hands shaking, rejecting my command to move the sheets and reveal the woman I've slept with.
Ever so slowly, It... Moved. IT MOVED. I SEE SKIN-
Im Panicking, debating whether I should make a run for it without knowing the face of the possibility of a human carrier, or get to know her and ditch her afterwards. Either way, I'm doomed.
Fuck, fuck, fuck-
"AHH SCREW IT! "
I removed the sheets, and my, this is horrid.
"Ju-Juliane!?"
"Oh my God Jaime, you're too damn loud!"
She stood up, covering herself with the blanket I just removed. She faced me with pure annoyance.
"Juliane, Why? How? And.. The hell!?"
Juliane's my best friend. She's been there for as long as I could remember. She's someone I will forever be grateful for to step in my life.
When I feel low in life, she just keeps popping up when I don't know and she somehow gets there just in time.
"I just got back from Australia, had alot of trouble in that damn place so I decided to come back home.
That damn son of a bitch fiancé- no, ex-fiance, cheated on me! With my damn roommate!"
Ahh.. So that's why.
Juliane and her Fiance go way back. It was summer of middle school when she told me she met a guy at summer camp. He was tall, handsome and daring, as she described.
He and I became good buddies, he courted her for about, 3 years. When she said yes, they were inseparable. Sure, they had petty fights here and there, but they always found a way to make amends. When we graduated college, he moved to Australia. The guy had been planning to settle down there. He asked Juliane if she wanted to come and start a life there, together. She said yes and we bid our farewells. We still stayed in contact, I know all her drama, and she knows mine. Then, nuthead fiancé told her to cut ties with me. Reason? Not really sure.
I thought that guy and I were of good friends, I never knew it would come to a point where I had to cut ties with the person who's been present my entire life.
I never saw that coming.
Juliane actually started a fight with him because of that. He knew that Juliane would always run to me about all her bullshit in life, so he probably feared Juliane would develop feelings and leave him for me. Really low of him to think that, to be honest.
Kind of ridiculous since Juliane and I have never once thought of being intimate. Since then, I haven't heard from Juliane. Although I still received rumors from people that nuthead Fiancé - sorry, Ace, had been seeing other women when Juliane isn't around. Maybe the rumors are true.
"Those damn bastards had kept it from me, can you believe they actually hid it the whole time I was in Australia!?, I went crazy and maybe if I saw them today, I would've killed them. Literally. I booked a flight yesterday, and like a damn fairytale, I met your ugly ass! I saw you drowning in alcohol and I knew you wouldn't remember seeing me yesterday, so I played "The girl who you met and told your life story until ya got wasted". Unfortunately, you spoke gibberish!
........
Don't worry, nothing happened to us. "
I raised my eyebrow, she looked at me, she couldn't believe I thought something might have happened between us last night.
" I swear, I wasn't even drunk. And to explain the clothes... "she smirked.
"I just scattered them along with your clothes that you unconsciously stripped off last night, to scare the hell out of you."
"You son of a bitch."
We both laughed. We hugged and had small talks while she smoked in the tiny room she rented.
"So, what happened to you and made you drown in alcohol?"
My smile faded, the vivid memories of the days before I went sober. I explained to her the situation of my student named Mei Dela Rosa. She too, seemed to pity the child and knowing her, she'll gladly lend a hand if ever I have trouble with something.
" She seems important to you."
It hit me.. I questioned myself.
Why is she important to me? She's merely a student like the rest. She had no significance in my life, and so am I to her. So why.. Why is she important?
"Whatever she is to you, I feel like.."
she put her cigarette down.
"I feel like she needs help as well. So Jaime, don't give up on her."
Juliane said as he caressed my hand. Assuring me that I'll find whatever I'm looking for.
"And if all goes down, you'll be there right?"
"Always."
We smiled and put our clothes on.
We headed to a café for more small talks.
She said she'll take part in whatever I'll do to find Mei. But for now, I think I'll enjoy the company of a friend I longed to talk to after those boring days at work.
