Halloween is right around the corner, and everyone sure seems busy for the past few weeks.
Saint Carmel is known to hold special events during the month of November. We hold competitions, and sell random stuff as well. But the most awaited one is our Horror House. We go with different themes each year, decorations are made by our students, and our staff would be the one to scare our guests out.
We make a great deal of money because of this.
Students all over the town gather when we open our school in that very day.
"Ahhhh, it's that time of the year aye?"
Jaime sighed, carrying a stack of boxes filled with decorations. It was obvious students payed more attention to this rather than worrying about their upcoming exam in like.... Next week.
"This event will be held by the end of the month, why is everyone so excited about something that will happen in like, 3 weeks!?"
"Jaime, jeez are you that old? Or just boring?
Of course it will be exciting, other students will come and witness thrills and fictional horror, do I have to explain further?
Haven't you longed for a certain event back in your days?"
Louis, my co-worker, gave me a sarcastic question, killing the vibe to be honest.
" You ask me that like I'm a decade older than you. "
" Then cool down will ya? This is one of the greatest times to enjoy as an adult as well. "
" Yeah, whatever. "

Mei packed her stuff as the last subject ended five minutes ago. Since she had nothing to do, she just sat there, sighing as her muscles let loose. Her eyes that stared at the ceiling.
It was that time of the year again, where students look up to something, running away from academics as they embrace the beauty of senior year.
This will be the last year of us being Saint Carmel students, make the most of it they say.
"What's so good about it anyway?"
She asked to outer space, it was something she always does whenever she's alone.
"it's the thrill."
Mei was surprised, she didn't know someone was in the same room as her.
She looked at the person who spoke.
"It's just something most of us enjoy, the thrill and the food. The fact that it is a day where everyone is allowed to relax and chill even just a bit."
Ahh... Lia.
The brunette in my class.
Boys always admired her beauty, and girls always looked up to her intelligence.
She's labeled as the "Angel" of our batch.
A friendly soul I never spoke of.
I just stared at her, not knowing what to do or what to say.
It was the first time someone approached me out of the blue.
She smiled and came closer.
"Say, I've never seen you speak to anyone, do you not intend to? Or are you just shy?"
I thought it was a stupid thing to ask, I tried my best not to roll my eyes, I would come off rude, and I don't want that.
"I do not intend to entertain anyone."
I thought it was a waste of time to just exchange conversations with people my age.
Just drama and drama everyday. I loathe that.
I thought that was enough for her to leave me alone, but surprisingly, she stayed and wanted to extend the moment.
" Then do you not intend to speak to me?"
I have no idea how far she plans on taking this, but I'm not having it.
"Look Lia, not to be rude or anything but..
If you're here to have some casual talk with me then you're wasting your time. It's not that I don't want to speak to you, but I just don't think im the type of person to do that suff."
She just stood there in silence, still smiling and giving me those friendly vibes.
"If you have nothing else to say, I'll take my leave."
I said, waited a few seconds in silence. She spoke not a word and I took that as a sign for me to leave.
"Just what is wrong with you?
Do you really want to avoid people your whole life?"
I stopped. How I wished it was that easy for me to make friends like her. But I can't, and I won't.
"I am not like you, I'm not as friendly as you nor even as nice as you. We both have different perspectives and different understandings when it comes to social life. It's just not in me to speak to people whom I do not know you know?"
How I wished it was easy for me to say how hard it is to even look at someone's eye.
" I'm just not the type seek other's comfort. I mean, I'm not saying it's wrong but... Ugh forget it. "
I attempted to leave again, but she just won't shut up.
" Then I'll be your first friend."
That gave ne chills, I have never heard that phrase said to me.
I still had my doubts, who would befriend someone like me?
"didn't you understand a thing I just said?
I'm not your typical person. I don't like what you like."
"Then I'll just have to like what you like then."
She's getting really annoying to be honest.
"What's the worst that could happen right?
Everyone deserves a friend."
She smiled at me.
Her smile was too pure it made me sick.
I hate it when people just make it seem like everything is rainbows and butterflies.
"You'll regret it."
"I never regret meeting people."
"You'll never like me."
"Who knows that?"
I just stood there, I was stunned yet annoyed. Why is she so eager?? It triggered me.
"Lia, just leave me alo-"
"See you tomorrow Mei!"
She left before I could even say anything.
Ugh, this girl's a pain in the ass!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Jaime! Lend me a hand will ya! There's a shit ton more in the other classroom!"
"Hey, I cleared almost half the friken building, atleast give me credit and let me rest!"
"There ain't no time to rest! Just carry the damn boxes will ya?"
"Fine."
I stomped my way to the other classroom.
Why can't the others help eh? Its not like there are only two males in the crew!
As I headed I heard voices from the classroom next to the one I'm supposed to go.
Out of curiosity, I peaked and saw Mei... Talkin to Lia??
Well that's rare.
"Then I'll be your first friend."
Was that one sentence that sparked a million questions.
It made me happy knowing Mei is starting to loosen up a bit.
Their conversation went on and on. Mei kept hesitating and doubting. She must be thinking "Is this real?" Or "she's just messing with me."
Either way, she's finally going through what a teenager is supposed to go through. Make friends, make drama, and be in drama, and then digging to her lowest point and find out her real allies. Later she'll fall in and out of love. The typical highschool story one should share in the future.
I felt at ease knowing Mei is starting to feel life, to feel alive.
"What's the worst that could happen right?
Everyone deserves a friend."
Lia sure is making quite the scene. She aint wrong though, everyone indeed deserves a friend.
With that I left the two alone, I left them in their own drama world as I enter mine.
I soon picked up the leftover boxes and returned to the faculty.
