It was about 8:10 in the morning when my clock decided to wake me up.
I've had 3-4 hours of sleep for the past few days since "The Day of the Dead."
Us teachers, needed to prepare our lesson plans for next year so we could also enjoy the sweet air of vacation.
"Good morning."
Was what Mei said as she turned her back on me, getting the scrambled egg that was on the pan.
"Morning."
It took me a few blinks before I saw tons of plates and delicious meals on the table before me.
"You didn't have to put that much effort into this, you know?"
She looked at me, completely flabbergasted and confused. Her eyes that held sudden disappointment, and her hands that dropped to her sides.
"You don't like it?"
"I mean, it's not like that."
"I just thought you worked a little too hard lately, and you lacked sleep and food, so I decided to make breakfast since I also recently learned how to make spaghetti."
"Spaghetti? Woah."
"If you don't want it I'll just-"
"What do you mean?? I haven't had that in ages! Especially the home made ones! Where is it!??"
"Oh, it will be ready by lunch, so I cooked you some eggs and bacon for the time being."
"Great! I'll eat this while I wait then!"
I said with such enthusiasm. I'm finally having a proper meal!
I glanced and saw Mei trying to hide a smile.
***
"Is it ready yet~?"
I sat there, impatiently waiting after I helped her clean the house for the time being.
My, I never knew my house was a big trash bin.
"Just a little more."
......
"Where did you learn anyway?"
"Oh, Max taught me how a day ago."
"Oooh, Max~ I'm fond of that kid."
I've seen a hint of blush which made me want to tease her about him even more.
"Y-yeah, he's nice."
"I heard he was into girls that love to cook.
He loves to eat ya know?"
I smirked, I wonder how this will turn out.. Max and Mei.
"He does?"
"Mmhmm."
"Oh, well that's good."
Ahh, youngsters.
.....
"Its ready."
She put down the pot of sauce and the pasta right beside it.
It looked so delicious that I've been staring at it for too long!
"Ehem, want a plate?"
I looked up and saw a plate by my face, I eagerly took it and served both of us the meal of our lives.
"Wahhhh, it's too good!"
I tried to speak while chewing down a mouth full of the spaghetti.
She giggled and I smiled.
"See, you look prettier when you're happy."
She stared at me, and smiled.
Mei sure is growing into a fine young woman.
"It's our last day tomorrow. Aren't you excited?"
I tried to stir up a conversation, it gets awkward when it's too quiet.
"I guess I'm looking forward to it, but not as much as everyone else."
......
"Do you plan to do something when vacation starts?"
"I'll figure it out once it happens. But right now,
I'm thinking of working my butt off to raise even more than what I'm earning at the moment."
She said as she gobbled the spaghetti, obviously enjoying it.
"I was thinking of going to the beach but it seems like you're not interested."
She suddenly lifted her head, her big eyes sparkling.
I did think of going to the beach, tagging along my old pal Tyler and her friends along.
I've started to save some money for the trip.
" You want to go to the beach at this time of the year? "
" You don't want to?"
"I do..."
She mumbled.
"What was that? I didn't quite catch what you said."
She pouted as I teased her about it. Pretending I didn't hear what she said.
"I want to come..."
"Still didn't quite hear that kiddo."
"I wanna come! I want to see the waves and feel the sand!"
I giggled. Not the reaction I was expecting, it was better!
"Sorry, Did I say that too loud?"
"Nah, you said it just the way I wanted you to!"
......
"I promise you with all my heart, we're going to the beach. You don't mind if I tag along an d friend right?"
"no, of course I don't mind. It would be better if alot of your friends would come!"
I left out the detail that I'd invite her friends too.
It'll be a little something I want to do.
"And don't even think about contributing to the trip."
I gave her a serious look.
"But I-"
"Oi! What'd I just say eh?"
"Okayy.."

I finished my meal and offered to wash the dishes.
We argued about that for a while.
I won and now I'm currently doing it.
It felt odd that I was looking forward to something.
A sack of emotions would flutter my heart when I think about it.
I'm finally heading to the beach!
It felt like such an achievement, I wanted to squeal in joy.
