“So, what did you two see?”
Amethyst’s response seemed innocent at first, but she knew enough too know that when Pearl and Rose looked at each other like that, they were keeping a secret from them.
“He, himself, is not dangerous. We can’t trust him totally, but we should keep him close by”
Garnet may have still looked stoic, but she was very worried on the inside. The world rarely ever managed to keep a secret once Rainbow Quartz decided she wanted to know it, so why couldn’t they trust the boy?
“Hmm, what are our other options?”
Rose looked at Garnet quizzically, what the stars was she thinking?
“Nothing sane? Why do you ask?”
“If he might be a danger, or bring danger, we should bubble him now before he creates a problem”
Rose had to stop her self from being completely mortified.
“While I enjoy your thoughts to our safety, we can’t do that”
“Why not?”
Pearl, thankfully, took over.
“We couldn’t generate the needed force to poof him in the first place, the threshold is too high. Even if we could, no bubble we can make would hold him for very long, he’d burst it eventually”
Garnet looked shocked, and for once that completely matched the way she felt. No gem can break out of a bubble, the preservation effect stopped them from reforming, or even thinking, until an outside force broke them out. That this boy could do that, Garnet didn’t want to believe it, but the information came from Rainbow Quartz. That meant it was accurate.
“Okay, so what can we do?”
“He said he was an orphan, I think me and Greg should adopt him. That gives us the best ability to keep track of him”
All but Pearl argued that point, but eventually they conceded. She’d have to talk about it with Greg and Steven.
