Phantom - Alone in Darkness

Chapter 7 - Death or Life

Chapter 7 - Death or Life

Nov 17, 2020

"What should I do? I cannot let him lie on the floor like this. He is very weak. He might die.” The old man thought and tried to pick the mystery man up, but stench was unbearable.

“You should take baths regularly.” He got up and advised that unconscious filth.

“Should I just let him die here?” An idea crossed his mind.

“Not a bad idea.” His eyes lit up.

“But will he stink more, after he died, or less?” He thought.

“Hehehehehe.” He giggled at his own thought.

"What should I do? What should I do? What should I do? What should I do? . . . . " He pondered as he stood there. Dead or alive, he was one filthy liability for him. The situation required some desperate and urgent measures.

“So, what are the pros and cons of both choices?” He spoke to himself.

“Alive. Pros: I get to know, who he is and how he entered here; he could clean himself up; and I could figure out a way to throw him out of here. Cons: He could be dangerous, and I have to go touch him now.” He hated the idea.

“Dead. Pros: I do not get to deal with him. Cons: I do not get answers; I still get to touch him; and I might never be able to throw him out of here.” He thought

“Ugh. What a sticky situation.” He exhaled in disgust. He gave the matter a little more thought.

"I cannot let him die here." He decided.

“I just need to find a way to move him from here.” He stared at the floor for a few moments. He was immersed in his thoughts.

"Ohhh! How could I forget." He snapped his fingers, exclaimed joyously, and ran towards the first door on the right side of the screen. He had a brilliant epiphany.

This door had “The Spirit Room” inscribed on it just like the other door. He opened the door and went in.

He came out after a while with a camel brown one-piece suit, like the construction site workers’ wear, 4 identical brown stones, a pair of strange looking glasses/goggles and a kit having a sign of medical emergency. The dress had a head cover (like hoodie plus mask), gloves and socks attached to pant legs. He quickly wore that dress on his clothes. Head piece covered his face. Zipped the front of the dress. The dress covered him like a bag with no openings/holes. It was loose on him.

"Wake up skin of the brown snake." He commanded.

The dress started shrinking on his body and face, until it was completely fit and then it vanished on his body. This dress was kind of an invisible armor for all his senses. He could not smell odor from before. He was now able to touch that mysterious man without really touching him.

"I am a genius." He laughed with self-appreciation.

The old man was extremely active and healthy for the age he looked. He quickly placed brown stones around the man in such a manner that they formed the shape of a rectangle.

"Activate! Moon Prison" The old man commanded.

The stones started growing in the form of small towers. They stopped rising after a while and with the electric swish, the towers connected with each other. This made a box that covered mysterious man.

“Levitate!” He ordered again.

The stones started to levitate with the mysterious man inside. The old man walked towards the first door on the left. Moon prison followed him in the room.

This room looked like a bedroom. It had a huge bed lying in front of the entrance door. There was a dressing table on the right with a stool in front and a huge closet on the left. The room was completely white, even the furniture and the bedding. There were no other things in the room. Old man pointed his finger towards the bed in the room. The Moon Prison moved and levitated over the bed. He pointed to the surface of the bed; Moon Prison executed.

"Release" He commanded, and the Moon Prison disappeared. Now, 4 brown rocks were lying around the mysterious man.

"My sheets, My bed, My room. He's ruined it all." He agonized in his thoughts.

Old man then opened the box. There were 5 white straps in the box. Each strap looked like a hand. He quickly fastened the straps around mysterious man’s wrists, ankles, and neck.

“I do not have normal emergency box here. But this will save your life for now.” The old man murmured.

“Awaken! Grips of Go-te’ Hermit.” Old man commanded.

The straps on his limbs shrunk while strap around his neck expanded to fit properly. The straps looked like they were holding the Mysterious man’s limbs in a grip.

Old man checked mysterious man’s pulse after a few moments. He had stabilized.

He then moved mysterious man’s arm away from his head and strapped the glasses around his head.

"He seems to be from some darker place. That is why he was covering his eyes. Trying to protect his eyes even in this unconscious state, he sure has incredible will to live or survive. Wow" The old man looked impressed.

Now that he was stable, old man collected the stones and went out of the bedroom.

He went to The Spirit Room and put the stones back there. He decided to keep wearing the Skin of Brown Snake until the mysterious man wakes up and takes a bath. He was also thinking of getting this whole place cleaned up by professionals.

He sat in his chair and contemplated over all this situation. It was a big unsolvable puzzle for him. Him: Who knew everything since the origin of the universe billions and billions of years ago or so he thought.

“I can’t be sure about anything until he wakes up.” He leaned back in his chair and turned the television on.

He was watching the television when a loud siren went off. The room went dark and the Main Screen lit up.

Old man was a little startled. He sat up and moved his chair near control panel. He looked excited.

“Welcome. New Warrior.” He murmured.
