Welcome to my new series, The Saint George Chronicles. If you’ve enjoyed reading A Thief In The Night, then some of the world setting and some of the people mentioned are going to be a little familiar.
This series is an urban fantasy with a slow burn m|m romance. One of the things you’ll probably notice, to go along with the urban fantasy setting, is the fact that a lot of the sub-plots are crime/suspense/civil service-related.
Several months back, I was writing Saint George as flash fiction with several drafted novellas. I stopped publishing the flash fiction series in the wake of George Floyd and the many protests that followed. I felt that what I was writing might be adding to the problem and reenforcing images and ideas that should not have a platform.
A very dear writer friend of mine, Skye Kilaen, pointed out to me a couple of times, that I didn’t have to fall into the same traps as normal crime procedurals. I have a fantasy world that uses a lot of magic with magical beings, what happens if I did things differently?
With that challenge, I went back to my world-building drawing board. I started A Thief In The Night in the same setting while I could work out how I could portray the civil servant parts of Saint George differently.
My hope is that while some things will be readily familiar to the reader, it will seem like a marked difference from what our current system engages in. Maybe it’s an optimistic, possibly naive viewpoint, but it is a fantasy world. I wanted something that was more fair, compassionate, and kinder, so I wrote it.
Now, I’m looking forward to bringing this series to Tapas!
The official launch date is November 21, 2020!
For every one that subscribes, you’ll get a personalized teaser posted on your wall from the series from a future chapter as a thank you.
I hope you’ll love Greg and Xavior as much as I do. They have a lot of stories, and I’m very keen on telling all of them.
With Love and Hope,
M.L. Eaden
Special thanks to: S.Bolanos who’s read ALL OF THE THINGS for these two guys since I started writing them. And special thanks to my Tapas writing group for encouraging me.
