"Markus, for trying to rebel and upsetting the natural laws of Heaven, you are hereby banished and cast down into the mortal realm, " a mighty voice boomed in the sky. I look upwards and see a massive hand reach down to grab me. I don't try to run because I know it's pointless. There is nothing that I can do to escape.
Everything I have worked for in my life at this moment is of no importance anymore, I, Markus Caldwell, next in line to become an arch-angel and a general in God's Heavenly army. Tried to start a rebellion with my closest friend Lucifer the Bearer of Light against God and other angels. As the hand wrapped itself around me I felt my angelic powers start to fade, my wings, made of pure white feathers, start to turn black and the feathers fall to the ground.
"Markus, " the voice said, "I'm stripping you of your angelic powers and your wings, and as a sign as your disgrace in their stead, you will wear the black wings of a fallen angel. You will have to live an immortal life in the human world. Finally, you may NEVER return to Heaven again." and after those words, I lost consciousness.
[Sometime Later]
When I woke up, I was blinded, by the sun shining in my eyes. With a groan, I rolled over and then quickly sat up. Looking around, I saw large woods to the east of me and a large river flowing along a roadside to the east of me. I stand up and slowly stumble over to the riverbed and peer at the surface. The water is incredibly clear so much so that it appears as though it's made of glass. I bend over and put my hands under the water and wash my face to help wake me up.
After a couple of minutes, I look back at the river and look at my reflection, I appear to be no more than 16 years of age. I have a slim athletic build with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. As for my hair length, it falls neatly to my shoulders and is held in a ponytail. I turn away from the river and walk slowly back to the place where I woke up. As I'm about to cross the road, a carriage pulled by 2 horses suddenly comes to a stop before me. A middle-aged man with a very sophisticated appearance steps out and walks up to me and looks at me with apparent interest.
"Hello, young man, what are you doing way out here? Are you lost?" he asks in a deep but melodic baritone. I nod my head and reply, "Umm... yes, as a matter of fact, I am lost. Do you happen to know where we are?" The man nods sincerely and answers my question, "We are currently in the Holy Empire of Ostra, and this is a highway that leads from the capital to the border of the Kingdom of Aglor. Judging by your appearance, you appear to be from the latter."
Confused by what the man had just said, I look down at my clothes and realize that I'm wearing clothes similar to what I had in Heaven. I am wearing a white button-up shirt with a black travel cloak draped over my shoulders and a pair of black dress pants and matching black knee-high boots. Attached to my belt is a small pouch (probably for coins) and a dagger. Looking back up at the man, I can tell he's waiting for my reply. I smile sheepishly.
"The problem is that I can't really remember where I'm from and how I got here," I say. The man nods sympathetically and says, "I'm really sorry to hear that if you would like, I can take you to a nearby town and get you a room at the local inn." I smile gratefully and accept his offer and, then we both get into his carriage. On the ride to the town, the man introduces himself as Sir Thomas Browne, a middle-ranking noble of the Empire. Currently on his way to the capital for an annual gathering, held by the Emperor and the heads of the church.
[Time Skip; 2 Hours]
After a long ride in the carriage, we arrive at a city that Thomas tells me is called the Merchant City of Shesa. As we are passing through the main gates that lead into the city, we are stopped by guards who examine the carriage for anything that might threaten the city. Thomas hands the guards a couple of documents and a look of surprise flashes on their faces for a second before quickly disappearing and then they apologize to Thomas and let us into the city. We step out of the carriage after entering the main gates, "It will allow us to walk around the city a lot easier and it's not that far till the inn." he explains as we walk down the busy street.
After a few minutes of walking, we stop in front of a beautiful building that has a sign hanging from it reading 'The Herald Inn & Tavern' following Thomas I enter the building and look around everything appears sparkling clean and a few customers of the tavern sit scattered around the room talking merrily with each other. Noticing that I have blanked out Thomas waves his hand in front of my face and smiles then pulls me over to the front desk for the inn. Arriving at the desk Thomas rings the small silver bell that is sitting there from the room located behind the desk. A young man appears with a smile, "Hello and welcome to The Herald Inn & Tavern, What can I do for you?" he asks kindly.
As I'm about to reply, Thomas answers first, "I would like to rent 2 rooms one for myself and this young man here." The young man nods and says, "A room cost 2 copper pieces a night and 1 silver piece for a week." Thomas nods his in acknowledgment and pulls out his purse and grabs two small silver coins and hands them over to the clerk. The man takes the money and smiles then leans down behind the desk and pulls out 2 keys and hands them to us. "
Your rooms are located on the second floor you can find the stairs over there," he says as he points to his right to an almost hidden stairway, "also, dinner is served at 7 o'clock and the price depends on your order I will send some staff to come to get you later on."
After thanking the man Thomas and I parted ways he said that he had some business to attend to in the city and that he also recommended that I look into visiting the adventures guild before departing. Feeling tired I once again thanked the clerk and headed upstairs to my room where I promptly fell asleep after hitting the soft feather mattress.
