Yvie had been swimming for a while. The moon felt like it had been her uninvited companion, as it moved around on the sky with her, as she moved in the water. She knew this was her own imagination, but yet, couldn't help feel a bit grateful. Though she simultaneously blamed the moon and thanked it, it made her feel less alone.
As she had been swimming, an instinct had appeared, growing stronger as she had moved in a certain direction. Yvie had tested this instinct, seeing if it was simply her imagination, but even though she had spun in circles, completely messing up her sense of direction, there was one way standing out to her every time.
Like something was calling her. Like something was waiting for her. She followed this instinct with a careful approach, but still couldn't help but feel excited.
'Maybe I can find answers' She thought, as she felt herself getting pulled towards unknown land.
'I thought I was free' She wonders, in an amused way. Before her parent's kept her trapped, but now it feels like it's her own instinct trying to capture her. However, Yvie didn't mind. She chose to listen to her instinct. It was a part of her.
'But I'm a part of my parents' Her justification of her parents abuse surprised her.
'Only my human side, I guess…' She decided, as she didn't feel like dwelling on that. For now, her objective was to travel, seeing where the tide took her, as well as letting herself think. Not restricting questions that had been suppressed for most of her life.
'It's okay to be curious' She kept telling herself, trying to undo the things her parents had put onto her, as if it was her own will.
Just as she thought this, her instinct grew bigger in her body, like an explosion of emotions, all being expressed at once.
A gate rose from the water out of nowhere, serpents engraved on the sides. Yvie knew this was where she was supposed to be. However, she didn't feel like accepting the invitation that came with the gates opening. A bright, white light stared her in the face from the inside, and she knew she had to go in. After she checked behind the gate first.
What was this? As she swam behind the gate, there was nothing. Almost as if an invisible wall separated the place where you could see the gate, and where you couldn't. There was no ripples from the sudden appearance. No gate. No light. There was only the moon, teasing her, daring her to do as she pleased.
What she pleased was following her instinct. What Yvie truly wanted, was getting answers. She knew this much, but her feelings on the matter had suddenly and forcefully taken shape, making her fully realize the amount of answers she had never gotten.
Not just because she hadn't asked the questions, but simply because they felt foreign to her. Wrong. Something she wasn't supposed to know about.
'Here goes' Yvie thought, as she slithered around, fully seeing the big, inviting, gate, as it felt like it towered even higher above her than previous.
As her instinct told her this was a safe place, she couldn't help but feel uneasy. As she moved further in, the light dimmed down, materializing cavern-like structures, that felt a bit off. Water dripped down from the stone surfaces, with the light moving further away, almost as if it was guiding her. Inviting her to follow.
Yvie took her time. She did not feel like rushing, as rushing was all she had known. Rushing away. Rushing home. Rushing around. She slithered closer to the walls, inspecting them as she went, fully taking all of it in.
'I don't think I've ever seen this in real life before…' She told herself, as that was the only conversation partner that was available.
'Did I read about it?' She pondered, trying to dig out her memories. She wasn't quite sure. But somehow, she knew what these mystical things were called. She knew the texture of it, as if she had touched it.
'It's almost like I've been here before' She hissed, getting weirdly excited at this possible prospect.
'Or maybe I dreamt it?' Yvie speculated, as she kept moving forward. The dimming light patiently waited for her whenever she stopped moving.
After some more slithering, she reached a big room. The stone walls she had been passing for a while now, was nothing like this. Silver adorned the walls, as shiny crystals was beautifully placed around in a pattern that Yvie felt was perfect. There wasn't too much to look at, but there wasn't too little either.
"Welcome" A voice rung out. There was no presence of life in there. Yvie felt like the room itself was speaking to her, as she looked around, trying to disprove herself. She didn't feel like a room should be able to talk.
'But then again, I'm a snake...' She chuckled to herself, feeling like she wasn't in a position to judge. If the room wanted to talk, it should be allowed to talk.
"I have been awaiting you, young one" The room once again rang out, filling the space with vibrations and life. Yvie felt safe in this atmosphere. Again making the familiar feeling appear.
Yvie kept looking around, as she had done from the start. A pile of colorful cloth got her attention. As she moved towards it, she felt a weird sense of comfort.
'Clothes!' Her thoughts could almost be heard from outside, as she quickly changed back to a girl, and put on the clothes.
'It's funny how I'm all dry' She thought, only noticing this now, as she hadn't been giving it any thoughts when she changed on the little pile of sand.
She looked down at her feet, finding a shed skin she was expecting. Yvie kept feeling very attached to these skins, as she felt like she kept shedding off a past version of herself. At the same time, she had decided to learn to let go. Learning, however, was an ongoing process.
"Who are you?" Yvie asked out into the room, as she held her head high. Having been clothed, as well as being in human form, after so long in snake form, had been weird for her.
'I really am both. Not just one' Yvie concluded silently in her mind, as she awaited an answer.
"Who am I?" The voice replied, sounding like it didn't quite know the answer to that itself.
"I am no 'Who'" It finally said, feeling like it found the answer it was looking for, and now ready to share it with Yvie as well.
