A man--who is a chemist and inventor suffering from liver cancer--is dying in a hospital. His only visitor is a transhumanoid robot, one that he had once invented. The robot lends him his face, a sort of mask that when he wears, he finds his way back to his old superpowers. Large parts of the world population have already been killed by a pandemic. Now, there is also a threat of nuclear war. A desperate fight for humanity begins...
