~The next day~ 3:40pm
I’m rolling to the baseball field with my friend, Carson. Me and her have been friends since 8th grade. Other than carter, her and her girlfriend are really the only people that treat me like I’m normal.
“So where is he?” She says, looking for Carter.
“Oh we’re a few minutes early, he’ll be here soon.”
“Oh ok.... so you said Carter stayed the night at your house last night?” She said leaning against the fence. I look at her with a shocked, confused look.
“”Wha- how did you know that!? I didn’t tell you that!”
“You just did.” She said with a mischievous smile that, in my book, meant trouble.
“So...? How’d it go?” She asked, still smiling her smile.
“Dude, we just slept.... AND STOP SMILING LIKE THAT!!!” I yelled with a very intense blush on my face.
Carson knows about my crush on Carter. Ever since i told her, she’s been playing matchmaker, and it kills me.
“Dude, you’ve liked him far too long to not even TRY to make a move.”
“And what makes you think he’ll even like me in that way? I’ve only ever seen him date girls. Plus i like our relationship right now, telling him i liked him would just make things awkward. Or worse, he’d not want to even be my friend anymore.” I say fiddling with my hands. I’ve liked Carter since before my accident. At first i thought it was just ya know ‘your siblings cool best friend’ thing, but then he started to help me with baseball and then we became good friends and i got to really know him and i realized i really did like him.
I look up and see Carsons face. She looks sympathetic the next time she speaks.
“Well, do you KNOW weather or not he could like you in that way?”
“Well.... no.....” i say, realizing, she’s right. It’s not like i talked about it to him. I don’t know weather he could like me or not. But still.
“Then there’s still a chance!”
I sit in silence. I know she’s right, but i just don’t have the guts to make a move on him. My thoughts are interrupted when i hear a familiar voice.
“Hey.” Carter says walking up to me with his ball bag on his shoulder, his baseball uniform on and his blonde and black hair pulled back in a low ponytail and HOT DAMN he looks good. I’m gonna die at this practice game.
“Hey...” i say look at him, trying to hide my VERY intense blush. He’s smiling at me, making me smile. Not like i wasn’t already.
“I was beginning to think you had forgotten about me.” I say with a teasing grin.
“Wha- i would never!” He protests, crossing his arms defensively. I shove him playfully, chuckling at his child-like response.
Carter looks over at Carson and smiles.
“Hey Carson. Nice to see ya again.”
“Yeah, you too, dingus.” She says, offering a small wave and a kind smile.
He chuckles at her greeting and turns back to me. “We should probably go, before coach gets mad”
I chuckle and grimace at the thought. His coach is one scary guy. I turn to Carson and its like she read my mind.
“See ya later, max.” she says, bending down to hug me.
“You could stay and watch too, if ya wanted.” Carter says shoving his hands in his letterman jacket pockets.
Carson waved a hand at him as she stood up straight again.
“Thanks but i have plans with my girlfriend. Plus I’m not a huge baseball freak like you guys.”
Carter and i chuckle at that statement, because we both know its true.
“Kay, well you and Marley have fun then.” I said as i rolled to the field.
“Yep! Bye, dork!” She called as she waved bye. But before she leaves, she winks at me, causing me to blush again. I turn around quickly and i think i hear her chuckling behind me, but I don’t true around to find out.
To be continued....
