“One more glass!”
“Dude, I think you had enough.”
I blocked my friend’s hand from reaching out for my beer. I hide it away from him but in my drunk state, it didn’t go far and failed to notice my other friend is on the other side of the table.
She snatch it out of my grip. “Hey! Give it back.”
My knees was too weak to be functioning well when I was about to reach it, I fall back down. Decided to give up and rest my left cheek to the table. Totally wasted.
I heard one of my friend chuckle. “What happened, Cody? Is this how you’re greeting us in our little reunion after a month and a half?”
“Are you sexually frustrated because you haven’t get laid for awhile now? No chicks around here suits your taste?” My other friend asked.
“Sorry, guys. I acted this way.” I felt bad for them to witness my drunk state when we’re here to have fun.
“It’s okay. It’s been awhile since we saw you drink this passionate. What’s up? Did you jogged here? You’re sweating like you’re on a marathon or something when you first got here.”
I grab someone’s drink, I don’t remember whose and one shot it. Luckily, it didn’t break when I smashed it on the table and finally found the confident to spill everything.
“Tyler, Kate, dude, guysss. You a-all,” I pointed at everyone at the bar and Tyler quickly put it down saying, “Just us two. No need to bring everyone.”
“But w-what if t-they… hmm… w-wanna,” hiccup, “join u-us?” I pouted.
“They don’t wanna, Cody. Let’s focus. What were you going to tell us?”
“O-Oh right! Hm… what it a-again?” more hiccups.
“Let’s start with your well-being.”
“Yeah… that’s a-a good idea, T-Tyler… good j-job...” I said while patting his back more than necessary.
Cleared my throat, “As you g-guys know, currently I worked at t-this big tower, yeah? I try t-to be a good boy. Do e-everything they say. A-All fine. They g-good to me. Bought me l-lunch. ”
“Okay. That’s a good thing, right?” Kate said.
“UNTIL THIS GUY CAME!”
Tyler trying to shut my mouth but once again, I dodged him. “Shhh! Hold your horses, man. We get it. A guy came and then?”
“Until this b-beast man d-dude guy came into m-my life. Derek Collen.”
“What did this Derek guy do to pissed you off like this?”
“His whole e-existence, Kate! Mrs Green o-only ask me t-to hand a few papers to Tara. B-But suddenly this d-douche bag ‘Mr Collen requested y-you in his office’.” I said, imitating Tara.
“I-It’s suppose to be q-quick. But this fucker, Mr Collen here is f-fucking bored and decided t-to give a lecture. Not only. L-Listen to me, guys.”
“Oh, we’re listening.” They said.
“Not ONLY h-he lectured me. He also t-taunted me.”
“About what?”
“Apparently e-everything and anything he c-can think of. My empty b-brain, my talking, m-my personality, my clothes.” hiccup. “And my weight! Ugh! He’s c-calling me fat. N-Nothing in our c-conversation touched about body but s-suddenly mister big brained go throwing e-everything in the fire.”
Hiccup. “S-Serious question. Am I f-fat?”
“NO!” they said in unison.
“Of course not, Cody. You worked hard to not only loose a lot of weight but also to obtain this amazing body.”
“Yeah. Mr Collen must be blind or something. Or maybe he’s just jealous with your body.”
“No way! His body is way WAY more sculpted than mine. I mean I didn’t really checked him out that well but his figure is 101 percent bigger than me. He looked totally opposite from me. He’s a real man definition. He’s a god that every people have to glorify. He’s the papi chulo.”
Tyler and Kate lift their eyebrows upon hearing my unintentional worship of a man that I just said I dislike. “I-I don’t know why I said t-that. What do y-you expect? I’m i-intoxicated.” I defended.
“Anyway, as I was s-saying.” hiccup. “I can’t forget the fact that h-he called me fat. So I started g-going to gym often right after work and w-workout for an hour everyday. It’s been three w-weeks, tomorrow will be t-three weeks and o-one day since that day but I’m still here nagging about it. Still going to gym. Still hate him. Ugh!”
I dropped my forehead to the table with a loud thud.
“We’re sorry you have to went through that. We know how insecure you are when it comes to your body.”
“It’s a nightmare. I l-lost weight from 170 plus to 64, get a surgery on my excess skin, got fit and still get called fat? Hm… I-It’s a terrible nightmare.”
“I don’t know, Cody. Are you sure that’s his intention? I mean labeling you fat? Maybe he didn’t mean it.”
“Yeah, just take on the positive side. You workout more, you’re healthier. Besides, you can’t keep on hating your boss. He’s your boss.”
“And you still have a long way to go there. It’s not like you see him everyday, right? Just tolerate with it this once and forget about it. It’s time for you to proof he’s wrong.”
“Yeah. I’m gonna fucking show him whose the boss. I mean technically he’s the boss but metaphorically speaking if you know what I mean.”
“Sure.”
“Totally get it.”
