I went out of his quarters still baffled of what just happened and all of the things that I have found out. Come to think of it, a person who looks exactly like me has lived thousands of years ago. Could it be that reincarnation is true?
I shook my head. I cannot let myself dwell with those things and lose my mind. For now, I have to go to Kendrick and extend my gratitude for saving me. I have no idea how, maybe saying it will be enough but I have to try something other than merely saying Thank you.
…
“History repeats itself.” The lady in thick robes with long grayish hair spoke from her position in the dark corner of the hut.
“Yes, but I hope this time it will be the opposite of what happened eons ago.” The alpha spoke while facing the lush canopy of the vast forest of their territory below the cliff.
“That will be determined by his mate.” The lady stood and stepped into the sunlight. Her eyes were white and seems to be looking afar.
The alpha took a deep breath. “Yeah, but Marcus was certain that the other half will come from our clan.”
“He is right. But now that we knew Allen was Arthur’s descendant, it is clear that the other half will come from Raven’s lineage.”
“Yes.” The alpha sighed. “Can you tell who?” He asked the seer who, like him, was staring far away.
“I cannot be certain. My visions were cloudy but I can tell that by full moon, the demons of the other half shall rise and only Allen shall be able to suppress it. That’s his purpose after all, to prevent chaos and to restore the bond that has been torn ages ago.”
“Then we’ll have to wait by full moon. I know it will also be Allen’s time to shift. I could feel it.”
The seer closed her eyes. “And his mate will be there.”
…
I just opened the door of the pack house and just about to step in when someone grabbed me into a very tight hug. “Oh, thank goodness you are safe. I heard what happened.”
“Y-yeah.” I managed to say despite the tightness of his embrace.
He put his arm around my neck and apparently dragged me to the couch. “So, are you feeling okay now?”
I nodded. “Yeah and you can remove your hands off my shoulder now, it’s kind of hard to breathe.” I said practically wanting to see him panic.
And he did. “Oh sorry.” He muttered as he took his hands off from my shoulder.
And I laughed. The look on his face is priceless. Well bad me, but I can’t help it. I’ve been dying to do this to him.
He tilted his head, “Oh, so you want to play huh?” He asked. And by the look on his eyes, I think what I did was a terrible idea.
I swallowed and let out an awkward smile. “Uh, sorry I didn’t mean to…” I trailed off and looked away.
Drake just ignored what I said and for the first time, I saw him got serious. I mean, real serious. And as he gave me that stare, he eased his face closer to mine. And every inch he moved, I could hear my heartbeats getting louder and louder.
What the heck is happening with this guy? I mean, I just did that and it made him like this. Like hello, he was teasing me the whole time we’ve been together!
As he got closer, I also had my head move away but I cannot do that forever because my neck isn’t that flexible. So I raised both of my hands in between our faces. “Uh, I was just kidding you okay.” I said and lowered down my hands.
But the look on his face is still the same and why does it seem that the air is getting awkward? “Come on Drake, I was just kidding.” I pressed.
“I know.” He uttered and started getting closer again and this time, the space between our faces is just two inches away. I could already feel his breaths and our noses are about to collide with each other. “Now, I’m not.”
“W-what do you mean?” I stammered.
He inched closer and held my chin. Oh god, where is this heading?
To my surprise, he brushed the tip of his nose against mine and let out a boisterous laughter. “You should have seen your face!” he exclaimed and laughed even harder with his hand on his stomach.
I never realized I held my breath until I breathed again. “Haha.” I laughed mirthlessly as I rolled my eyes at him.
“Gotcha.” He uttered and laughed at me again.
I just rolled my eyes.
“Sorry about that.” He said after he recovered from his laughter. But I kept rolling my eyes. I can’t believe I fell on my own scheme.
“Hey.” He tugged me still with a smile on his face. “I was just messing with you okay. And your reaction only proves that you are in a good condition except for your hair and your eyes.” He said.
I sighed. “Yeah. They sort of…mutated.” I said loss with words to describe what happened.
“Yeah, seemed like you have silvery hair now and blue eyes.” He said then messed my hair. I groaned as I yanked his hand away from my head. “Oops, I forgot you’re sensitive there.” He chuckled. “But are you sure, they’re mutations?”
“I don’t know.” I said, shrugging. “I had these before but they just go back to normal after a few moments but now, I think they’re for permanent. I had them for more than a day now, the alpha said I had them after I almost drowned.”
Drake just nodded as he looked at me.
“What?” I asked while cocking my left brow.
“They actually look good on you.” Drake said which caught me off guard.
With no idea how to respond, which was so not me, I managed to say. “Err, thanks.” I said.
And to avoid the dead air which would lead into awkwardness, I basically changed the topic. “Uhm, do you know where Kendrick is?”
“Why do you ask?” He looked at me, puzzled.
“Well, I kind of owe him a thank you for saving me.” I said.
“Kendrick saved you?” Drake was sort of taken aback.
“Yes he did.” I said. “That’s why I have to thank him. Where is he by the way?” I asked.
He went for a ride.
“A ride?”
“Yeah. That guy loves riding big bikes just to unwind and maybe cool off.”
“I see. Well, aside from bikes, do you know the other things he’s fond of?” I asked.
“Girls.” Drake said immediately.
“Oh.” I said, sort of crestfallen. Who am I fooling anyway? Kendrick is straight. It’s normal.
“Why ask about Kendrick now?”
“Well, I was planning on giving him something, a token perhaps, for saving me. But I guess, what he likes isn’t something that I can give.” I said and slumped back on the couch.
Why am I so down all of a sudden? I took a deep breath.
“Well, you better ask him yourself. But I think a word of thanks is enough for him.” Drake muttered.
“Really? But I thought he is some sort of spoiled?”
Drake chuckled. “If you could get close to him, you’ll see that behind those demeanor he is showing, there is a soft and kind hearted person inside. And he’s fond of children. He is basically a good guy.”
“Yeah, he is.” I said as I thought of him saving me. But then again, he hates me. “But he doesn’t seem to like me.”
“Well,” Drake paused, “your kind is an exception.” Drake muttered.
I looked at him. “What do you mean my kind?” And it hit me. “Oh yeah. He’s homophobic.” I sighed.
This idea of thanking him seems to be getting harder.
“Am I the only gay around here?”
“Not exactly. There are guys who turned gay because their mates were male. But I guess you cannot consider them gay because they are just following their bond so to speak and besides, they don’t do it with other guys except for their mate.” Drake said.
“Is that so? And what do you think of me? I don’t go around jumping over one boy to another.”
“But you are already gay. The ones I’m talking about were as straight as we are until they found their mate. Well, they are still straight up to now technically speaking.”
“Ugh, so Kendrick’s blood is boiling against me because I’m gay. It’s not my fault.” I said not realizing I’m whining which caused Drake to chuckle.
“But despite that, he still saved you.”
“You’re right, that’s why I have to say thanks.”
“Well, good luck to that.” Drake said and stood. “See you around later, I’ll be heading home for a moment.”
“Okay, thanks.” I said.
“He’ll be here any minute.” Drake said and put his hands on his pocket. “See you.”
“Bye.” I said.
I watched him walked towards the door. Drake is such a good friend. I wonder why he haven’t found his mate yet. Or if he had, who?
I decided to sit by the porch where I stayed the other night. The afternoon air is starting to get colder as it blew carrying a bunch of fallen leaves from the ground.
I rested my head over my knees while waiting. Why do you have to hate gays Kendrick?
Then I heard a sound of a bike coming. And my nose picked up a musky scent, and the more I inhaled it, the more I seemed to get high.
I stood as I saw a person materialized in the road riding a Ducati big bike. There’s no mistake, it’s Kendrick.
He was wearing a hooded leather jacket with the hood covering his head. I stared at him as he gets closer.
And there I realized that he was the man I saw a month ago while I was heading home from school.
I am basically counting from one to one hundred to calm myself and to pacify my erratic heart beats. I really haven’t prepared something. What do I do? How do I approach him?
Ugh. Allen, get a hold of yourself! I mentally reprimanded myself.
He let the bike come to a stop in a swag. And before disembarking, he took off his hood and the sight just blew me off. Goodness, what in the world is happening with me?
I didn’t realize he was wearing sunglasses until now. Ugh. My heart came up to my throat. Why am I reacting like this?
He disembarked from the big bike, his hair was messy but it kind of compliments his bad boy demeanor. With the zippers down, I could see his white shirt hugging his body. And his long muscular legs were looking good on his black jeans. A pair of Black boots completes his get up that is slowly taking the air out of me.
He walked towards the pack house. This is my chance. I have to do this.
I cleared my throat. “Ugh. Hi, can I have a word for a moment?” I asked with my best efforts.
I looked up at his staggering aura as he walked closer and my heartbeats were into frenzy. I was expecting that he’ll stop but he just continue walking as if I wasn’t there.
And I could feel my ears burning. My chest heaved up and down faster as my breathing rapidly increased paced.
I turned around. “Excuse me, I was talking to you!” I shouted at him.
And yet, it looked like he doesn’t seem to have a care.
“Hey! Did you know that it took all my courage just to approach you and then here you are, ignoring me? What on earth is wrong with you?” I screamed and out of my rage, I threw a stone at him which landed square on his head.
And finally he stopped and I got his attention. But it was just then that I realized what I have done.
“Oh God.” I muttered.
He removed his sun glasses and then tilted his head to look at me. And seeing the look in his eyes, I wish the soil opens up and swallow me.
