Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Nov 30, 2020

Michael snapped up his head from the documents he was reading when the door of his study opened in a rather brutal passion. His calm expression didn’t waver as he saw his son, standing in the doorway with his right hand on the wooden door, panting. He blinked in the unusual behavior of his son. Yeah, Kendrick might be difficult at times but it is only now that he could see the panic in his eyes, the uneasiness and the fear.

“What’s wrong with me dad?” Kendrick approached when he regained his breathing but it didn’t change the fact that he is in despair.

Michael rose to his feet. “What’s bothering you?” He was so sure that last night, he have seen the glint in Kendrick’s eyes as he stared at Allen in wolf form. And he knew at that moment that Kendrick has found his mate and so did Allen.

Kendrick removed his shirt. And alas, seeing his son’s body covered with the mark that he do not want to see, his calm demeanor was shaken. He, however, has regained it immediately. He should not fear, Allen is with them.

“What’s this dad? It’s spreading all over me.” Kendrick uttered, the unseen fear is palpable in his voice.

“That is the mark of the ancient. The mark of Raven-his curse.” He stared at his son. “The longer it sticks in you, the more you become less aware of what you are doing, the more you lose control of yourself and worse, your wolf. If not cured, you will doom to bring chaos like what Raven did before.”

“Tell me how to get rid of this.” He said.

“Only the other ancient could cure you. He bears the mark opposite to yours-“

“Then tell me where I can find this other ancient you say.”

Michael sat back on his chair behind his working desk. “Actually you have met him.”

“What?”

“Just like Raven and Arthur, the other ancient, is your other half. You have to work together to maintain balance to prevent disorder.”

“My other half?” Kendrick asked with a frown. He seemed to have a bad feeling about this.

“Yes. And I’m talking about your mate who happens to be-“

“No!” Kendrick snapped. “He’s not my mate! There was a mistake.”

“You know it’s not true Ken. You have felt it. You did.” Michael said.

“I’m not gay dad.” There he said it.

Michael sighed. He knew it. Kendrick is always so repulsive about the idea of homosexuals and last night he thought that Kendrick would change when he found his mate in the person of Allen. Guess he is wrong.

“Who told you that you are?”

“If Allen is my mate then what does that make me?”

“I know it’s hard for you but we cannot control the fate. The will of the moon is absolute, you know that.”

“No. There must be a mistake, I’ll prove it to you.” He snapped.

“I’m afraid you can’t do that. The seer and I agreed that both Allen and you needs to stick together to fulfill the words Raven has spoken himself. We cannot risk the safety of the people and by putting you together, we can-“

“This is insane dad! You cannot force me to live with him!”

“You have to learn to. It may not be easy on you but we have no choice. You have to stick together.”

“No. it’s not going to happen.” He said as he shook his head. But deep inside him, he is in constant war with himself with the way he acted just a while ago when he saw Drake and Allen together in the pack house. Damn, he could smash a boulder with his rage. And he’s damn angry with himself.

Kendrick was about to reason to his father again when suddenly, he tensed and the air became so damn filled with Allen’s scent. His pupils dilated and he could feel his wolf wanting to go out. There it is, the feeling that he detest.

He looked down on his groin. “Damn.” He cursed when he saw a palpable length.

My heart jumped when I got closer to the alpha’s quarters. My wolf snapped up in attention and is urging me to get faster. Then my nose picked up the scent of Kendrick. I balled my fists just to suppress the excitement that is starting to boil inside me. I kept reminding myself of what he did and that he doesn’t want me. But to no avail, my pupils dilated as I stood in the open doorway and I have to blink first before my sight returns to normal. But it didn’t help for I saw Kendrick half naked with strange black markings in his body. At that very moment, I felt rooted on my ground. I never thought the pull could be this strong. I mean the attraction is almost unbearable and I’m on the brink of giving in. I could feel the tension building in my groin. Ugh.

And that alone is caused just by staring at him half naked with his broad shoulders and chiseled chest standing mightily before me with hints of tiny hairs traveling in the middle of his body past his packed abs and his navel and disappeared behind his denim jeans. And a look in that part between his thighs, I realized I’m not the only one which was a relief. An awkward one so to speak.

We both flinched when the alpha cleared his throat. I faked a cough with my hand covering my mouth with the intention of covering my face. “You called for me, sir?” I asked.

“Yes, Allen.” The alpha replied in his authoritative voice. Nonetheless, he bowed while showing his neck.

“Why are you baring your throat to him?” Kendrick snapped beside me.

“In case you have forgotten, Allen is the white wolf. The bearer of the peace and hope.” The alpha uttered to his son. And as he sat down, “And your mate as well. I should greet my son-in-law, should I not?” he added.

And what he said has taken me aback. But it was only for a matter of seconds when Kendrick retorted “He is not my mate dad!”

I just looked down. The pain struck me again. I just sighed as I suppressed the stupid accumulation of liquid in my eyes.

“I don’t know if your body agrees Kendrick. I could point out some of the signs that would tell that Allen is your mate.”

“I told you I’m not gay dad!” Kendrick snapped again.

“And when did sexual preference mattered when it comes to mates?”

Kendrick groaned.

The alpha just said calmly. “Allen, please sit down.”

I nodded and took a seat in front of the desk.

“You too.” The alpha motioned the chair as he pertained to his son.

Kendrick slumped in the chair opposite to mine.

“I am sorry for the insolence of my son Allen. I know what you are feeling right now. But he will eventually accept the fact that you are his mate.”

I don’t know if Kendrick reacted to that. If he did, I didn’t see it because I just remain with my head looking down. If this is what it meant to have a mate, I’d rather have none.

“I called you to let you know that you and Kendrick will live together in our villa for weeks and see if there is progress. Besides, it will be you who will see to it that his demons won’t go out. You are to prevent his markings to take him over and transform him into something we don’t want.” The alpha said.

I looked up and saw Kendrick looking at me. But he was fuming. I immediately looked away but I have seen the markings that the alpha was talking about. And it seemed to be the answers to the flashes that I have seen last night.

“Sir, I don’t want to force myself to someone who doesn’t want me. There’s nothing I can do about it. However, I can cure the curse off his body. That’s if he wants it.” I muttered.

“Still you have to live together, to stick together. That is the only way to fulfill the words given by the ancients we cannot change it. If we don’t, great catastrophe will fall upon us.” The alpha muttered.

I sighed. I guess it can’t be helped.

“I will do this but it doesn’t mean that I am welcome to the idea. I cannot allow myself to bring danger to the people who means so much to me.” Kendrick uttered

“Then it’s settled.” The alpha said with confirmation.

“But I have conditions.” Kendrick said.

“That will be between the two of you.” The alpha said as he stood and took his bearskin. “I’ll leave you two. I have some things to attend to.”

He said and walked towards the door and closed it behind him.

And now, it’s only the two of us.

“I’m okay with whatever your conditions are. I’ll be fine with it.” I said and was about to go out myself but he stopped me.

“First, you have to stop seeing Drake.” He said with his eyes looking intently at me.

Special. That's what he is, or at least that's what his new father calls him. But Allen knew he's not. He's nothing but a below average person trying to live a normal life as he could despite his fuzzy past. To top it all, he's gay which made him the laughing stock of the jocks.

He is trying to live with that until he felt a sudden pull that led him to lay his eyes on Kendrick Immanuel Hayes. And that very moment, his below average world changed swiftly as his blurry past vividly unfolds before him that led him to the realization of who he really is.

However, there seems to be a problem, a voice inside him says "Kendrick, my mate..."
