The birth of the kings' firstborn son spread through the kingdoms throughout the continent, and rumors of the prince being born with the characteristics of a divine being from legend. The Dareon Kingdom was the largest in the eastern continent and also was the most powerful, but it still had its flaws.
"Baah! As if! It's just the royals flaunting their power and creating rumors to make us citizens praise them even more!" A muscular man said, pounding his empty mug of beer onto the table in the empty tavern.
His companion flinched at his sudden outburst.
"Colton settles down; you're going to draw unwanted attention to yourself." The other man said, pulling his cloak higher over his head.
Colton stared at his comrade. "Well, if our mission is successful, I guess we will get to see if these damned rumors are true, right Sylas?" He sneered while motioning at the waitress for another drink.
Sylas sighed and slumped back in his chair.
"Why did I have to be partnered with this no good dufos?"
Colton glared at Sylas but ignored his petty remark. If this mission is successful, there is no doubt we will be set for life! I do not doubt in my mind that our 'benevolent' rulers would trade the entirety of the royal treasury to get their precious son back. After all, we did have an inside contact who will help get us in.
"Alright, Colton, let's go over this once again," Sylas sighed. "Based on the intel we got from my wife, who is the queen's personal handmaiden, next week castle security will be at an all-time low because the majority of the specialized soldiers will be going with the king to the Beastmen Kingdom, Corveise for a political conference. Because of this, the normal soldiers will be stationed around, so this is the perfect opportunity to slip in."
Colton looked at Sylas and tilted his head. "And you need my stealth and invisibility magic to do this, correct?" Colton spread his hands over the table and leaned over. "Precisely. The normal soldiers will most likely not feel the fluctuation of mana on the premises. Next, we will kidnap the prince and hold him for ransom to get money. I will split it with you 50/50. My wife Cathleen, who works at the castle, as I said previously, will help us in this task, and I already have a ship prepared, ready to make a voyage back to Castia Continent after we deliver the prince back to the Royal Family when we get what we want. It will be the perfect place to stay and live the rest of our lives in luxury."
Sylas laughed. He and his family had been experiencing financial difficulties after Cathleen had a difficult labor. She was sick and was bedridden for 3 months. The money we will get will surely allow them and their daughter to live a life of peace.
