Content Warning: Mention of Self-Harm
Saturday night was the night that Chantel and she are going to the rave party. Leticia knew she had to look fashionable for the occasion. Pulling out her fluffy white coat and cute, wool, black patterned design leggings, at least this outfit screams party girl. Her matching black, high heel boots were a must for this outfit. Leticia still had some time before heading out, so she took a quick look at her band’s business emails.
Usually, their band managers would do this, but every once in a while, the other girls would look at the emails. Leticia scrolled through the emails, looking at all of them, but she found one that stood out to her. An email from some random dude that was in charge of another venue that the Apple Queens were planning to perform later in the month. Leticia guessed that the owner of the venue wanted to complete the details on their end. So, she opened the details to see the owner's message:
I’m ready to complete the last details of your band’s gig next week. Just as long you bring one girl over earlier before they perform some ‘services’ for our patrons, as you promised, Ms. Dragonmare.
“Services?” Leticia pushed back her computer chair, only to bump into her boyfriend, Trenton.
Trenton whined. She got up to apologize to her boyfriend, then she turned her attention back to the email. He touched her shoulder while Leticia wrote back in response to that email.
“You okay?” Trenton asked.
“I’m fine, babe. Just let me type this email.” Leticia furiously typed an angry response to this creep.
The message she wrote back:
Hi, this is the Apple Queens leader, Leticia Hernandez. Fuck off, we’re not doing that. You can take your “services” and shove it up your ass, creep. Consider this arrangement off.
Hitting the send button, Leticia did not care how unprofessional she was being. She knew what this guy meant about “services” and it was not the type that had anything to do with music. However, Leticia’s face was hot in anger when she reads that disgusting email. Considering that Rose was their manager, how many more emails like this were there her band did not know about!? Was there more truth to the hideous name calling at their band among the Clare Point View music scene?
Leticia heard Linda calling her, alarming her that Dakota came to visit. She got up to meet with her best friend, who was standing in the living room. Not wanting to spend too much time chatting with Dakota inside, they took their chat outside of the apartment room. The two of them headed downstairs as they went to a small alley near the apartment building. When Leticia looked around to see if anyone was there, she allowed her friend to say anything on her mind.
“Look, Leticia, is there anything wrong? The other girls are concerned about you.” Dakota asked.
Leticia diverted her eyes somewhere else nervously, “There is nothing wrong. Oh, and heads up, I cancelled one of our gigs we had coming up.”
“You what?! Without any of OUR input?! Why?!” Dakota yelled at her, which made Leticia push back a little.
“Because of reasons. The guy who owns the place is a creep, and I had to do it!”
“Okay. So, what are the reasons because other than firing one of our best managers with no reason, why are you on a power trip, Leticia?” Dakota called Leticia out on her excuses..
“I told you guys, Lily is a con artist! Why would we keep a con artist in our band?!” Leticia stated, and suddenly the girl grabbed her arm. “Dakota, what the fuck are you doing?!” She shouted at her best friend.
“You have cuts and bruises on your arms. Are you self-harming yourself?! Are you depressed?!” Dakota pressed on, which Leticia got extremely nervous when Dakota asked all these questions.
“I’m not depressed! I’m FINE!” Leticia pulls her arm away from Dakota and spat, “I’m not an emotional wreck like Raleigh has been recently.” She fixed her fluffy coat, glaring back at Dakota.
Dakota stood back and said, “This is not about Raleigh. It’s about you and your odd behavior lately. You’re being secretive as hell and have these weird cuts on your body. It’s like I don’t even know you anymore. And these rumors of you sleeping around and cheating on your boyfriend…”
“Oh my gosh, Dakota, you're listening to the assholes backstage on these stupid rumors?! I’m not cheating on Trenton!” Leticia fought back, then pointed at Dakota. “You’re supposed to be my friend! Why would you believe random strangers?! And for fuck's sake, all of us had rumors that we slept with people to get ahead! Why now do you believe in that bullshit?!” She put her hand down and waited for the drummer to say anything.
Dakota looked down and said, “I don’t know anymore. Not when I saw you the other night with a guy pretty much older than you. Maybe you’re the one that is keeping the rumors alive to keep us relevant, and it was you that was doing the sleeping around.”
Leticia walked backwards in shock at what her friend said. Dakota’s words went through her like an electric shock. In fury, she just stormed off, away from Dakota, leaving her alone in the alley. She could not believe what her friend said to her. Her being the one sleeping around to get the band on the path to fame!? Unbelievable!
Leticia headed to meet with Chantel at the bus stop, leaving for the trip to Underwood. Maybe there was some truth to what the girl was warning her about Rose.
Finally, the long trip to Underwood went according to plan so far. Darren met up with the two of them when the bus stopped in a nearby town. Leticia saw Amelia with her band as they could hitch a ride with The Hexes to the city. Amelia wrote a long, white dress with a witch’s hat and as for Toby, he donned in a plaid shirt and jeans in military boots. Leticia noticed Darren’s outfit had just had his usual attire with his leather jean jacket and all.
Since it was dark, Amelia, Darren, and Toby opted to follow The Hexes, riding on their broomsticks to make room for Chantel and her in the van. It is one thing that all the Supernaturals all agreed; thank gosh, they did not have to wear their wrist bands on the rest of the way! As Leticia and Chantel were inside the van, they sat in the middle seat together. Leticia took one glance at her outfit. She wore designer navy jeans and slip-on shoes, nothing really flashy or anything.
Leticia bit her lip to not say anything about her fashion choice, but she couldn’t stand it when someone does not dress right for the occasion! At least Amelia dressed for the occasion. Observing the fashion choices for the Hexes, she saw Gabriel and Nicola’s outfits, matching and similar to Chantel’s outfit, only wearing black. However, she could not make out what Nick wore, due to him being in the front seat, driving the car.
“So... Let me get this straight… You need to find a woman named Rose because you think she is impersonating you?” Nick talked to Leticia while he was concentrating on driving.
Leticia wondered how Nick knew why they were going to the rave. She guessed Amelia needed to tell Nick, so he could let them travel to Underwood.
“Yea, that woman was my band’s former manager. I need to find her.” Leticia said.
“Oddly, I think I remember a person named Rose…” Nick said, scratching his head in thought.
“Oh my gosh, Nick, you know a person named Rose. She’s Mariuem’s loose cannon sister! Aleister knew her and you do too from back in your high school days! Al used to chat with Mariuem all the time.” Nicola blurted out, which made Leticia jump.
“Wait, Mariuem is the vampire that kept Jesse and Darren from killing each other!” Chantel exclaimed.
Leticia raised her brows in curiosity and wanted to know more about Rose, “What do you know about Rose?”
“Not much. I came from Roseland and grew up there. The vampires, well... there used to be vampires there that were vicious, except one little vampire girl who was friendly with us. I didn’t have too many encounters with the vampires, but I know from my friends back in high school, who encountered vampires often, and I learned about Mariuem a little. Let just say, she is a friendly vampire, as long you don’t piss her off, from what I heard. Oh yeah, and she hates humans, but won’t harm them. The band only sees her with our vampire manager, Aleister every once a blue moon. It’s just strange that you’re talking about her dead, human sister…” Nick explained.
“Wait?! Rose is supposed to be dead?! How the hell is she alive? Is she literally a zombie?!” Leticia got more freaked out at the idea that a zombie was running her band all along.
“I don’t know what you would gain trying to find Rose over there. Then again, in a society where magic is a thing, it’s possible to bring back the dead, but that type of magic is usually forbidden and dangerous to use. The person you bring back to life usually pays an enormous price when they die again, along with the user, who did the deed.” Nick stops the car in the parking lot near Night Barista Tower.
